Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps business and private drivers choose Dacia Sandero contract hire around five-seat hatchback practicality. Dacia UK now presents the TCe 100 range, while IVF also lists earlier petrol, CVT and Bi-Fuel entries. Identify the exact version first, then compare equipment, journey fit and whole-term obligations.
Sandero suits a shortlist built around straightforward passenger transport: commuting, local business visits and a household needing five seats without choosing an SUV shape. Begin with the people and luggage that travel most often. The main question is whether the hatchback works for those journeys, not whether another vehicle has a more elaborate trim badge.
For a business, describe who drives and how the car is parked overnight. For a household, consider whether this is the only vehicle and how often rear seats are occupied by adults. Both buyers should test the cabin with their normal seating positions. A five-seat specification establishes seating places, but does not prove three particular child seats or several large bags will fit comfortably together.
Talk through the vehicle specification
Which vehicle answers your brief?
| Model | Reason to shortlist | Decision to test |
|---|---|---|
| Dacia Sandero | Five-seat petrol hatchback | Match gearbox and equipment to the offered model year. |
| Sandero Stepway | Alternative body treatment and seating position | Test entry, visibility and luggage separately. |
| Dacia Spring | Four-seat electric daily travel | Check whether both the seat count and charging plan work. |
Dacia’s UK site checked on 28 September 2026 presents the current Sandero TCe 100 in Essential, Expression and Journey form. The IVF grid spans more than that current description. It contains repeated 1.0 TCe names, a Journey CVT entry and Bi-Fuel petrol/LPG derivatives. Those records require individual identification before an equipment or tax comparison is meaningful.
Ask for engine output, gearbox, model year and the complete derivative code on the proposal. Do not relabel an earlier car as the new TCe 100 because its trim name is familiar. We are not presenting the older CVT or Bi-Fuel entries as current factory-order choices. IVF must establish the actual car and sourcing route, including whether the manufacturer's current specification applies.
Essential, Expression and Journey should be compared using a short list of practical needs. If navigation runs through a phone, test the connection and mounting arrangement. If the car moves between drivers, check how quickly the seat, mirrors and driver settings can be adjusted. Reversing aids may matter more on a narrow driveway than a finish visible mainly in a brochure.
Dacia describes different multimedia and display equipment across the current trims. Ask which items are included on the offered model year and whether connected services have time limits. A picture of Journey should not set expectations for Essential. Record the few features that are non-negotiable, then allow the adviser to compare suitable cars without assuming the entire catalogue has identical equipment.
Someone who requires an automatic should say so before comparing advertised rentals. The grid includes a CVT-labelled Sandero, but the current UK TCe 100 presentation does not by itself confirm that older configuration is obtainable. Ask for a definite specification and sourcing answer; do not progress on the assumption that any petrol Sandero can be supplied with either gearbox.
The same discipline applies to Bi-Fuel. The captured petrol/LPG records are evidence of catalogue entries, not confirmation of current Dacia UK factory ordering. If one is proposed, establish its exact documents, fuel-system specification and service requirements. If it cannot be confirmed, assess a current petrol car against your actual journeys instead of treating an unresolved entry as a firm alternative.
Open the rear doors where you would normally park and check how passengers enter. A compact car still needs room beside it for doors, people and bags. If child seats are part of the brief, follow the seat and vehicle instructions and test the actual combination. Do not infer compatibility from a generic five-seat statement.
Load the objects you carry together rather than testing each separately. A folded rear seat can make a large item fit, but may remove a passenger place needed for the same journey. Small-business users should also assess whether work bags can be kept out of sight. Keep passenger and cargo requirements in one test so the chosen layout solves the whole task.
Use Sandero Stepway when you want to investigate a different seating position and body treatment, then judge the actual access and carrying result. Do not assume it has the same powertrain or equipment simply because the Sandero name appears in both. This page remains the regular hatchback decision; Stepway deserves its own specification comparison.
Spring addresses a different problem: four-seat electric travel supported by charging. That makes it a useful alternative when the fifth seat is rarely relevant and the journey pattern is predictable. It is not an electric Sandero. If five occupants are essential, retain that requirement rather than weakening it to make an electric option appear suitable.
For a company driver, Sandero’s petrol powertrain follows its certified CO2 band. A smaller vehicle does not automatically receive the zero-emission percentage, and a business paying the lease does not eliminate the employee’s tax on private availability. Use the P11D value and CO2 from the specific car rather than a model-wide estimate.
An owner comparing company provision with a personal agreement should ask an accountant to assess the alternatives using real annual mileage and individual circumstances. Keep the driver’s tax, business deduction and VAT treatment distinct. They answer different questions and should not be added together into a claimed universal saving.
The Sandero grid contains differing petrol and Bi-Fuel CO2 records. The following petrol benchmarks illustrate nearby bands without assigning one percentage to every Sandero. Confirm fuel type and certified emissions on the offered car, particularly where an earlier entry or alternative-fuel vehicle is involved.
For a Sandero allocated to an employee, apply the appropriate percentage to the taxable list value before considering the employee’s income-tax rate. The hire payment is a separate business expense and is not the number multiplied by the BiK percentage.
A company director and a sole trader need different advice. Establish who takes the contract and how the car is available for private journeys before comparing proposals; the model’s size does not decide that treatment.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol: certified 115-119 g/km | 29% | 29% | 30% | 31% |
| Petrol: certified 120-124 g/km | 30% | 30% | 31% | 32% |
| Petrol: certified 125-129 g/km | 31% | 31% | 32% | 33% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Dacia Sandero. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing. The Dacia Sandero powertrain discussed here is outside those planned electric and plug-in hybrid categories.
Discuss tax and contract details
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

They have separate IVF routes and should be compared as distinct specifications. This page covers the regular five-seat hatchback; use Stepway’s page to assess its own body style, equipment and powertrain.
The current UK range checked on 28 September 2026 uses TCe 100 petrol. Essential, Expression and Journey are the listed trims. Confirm the exact derivative at quotation.
Funder ratebooks can span model years. The captured entries include earlier petrol, CVT and Bi-Fuel descriptions. They must not be treated as proof of current factory ordering.
Yes, state that requirement, but availability needs confirmation. The CVT-labelled grid entry must be checked as a specific vehicle; do not assume the latest TCe 100 range offers the same gearbox.
The current UK Sandero discussed here is petrol. Dacia Spring is the separate electric-car route and has four seats, so it answers a different passenger and charging brief.
Yes. Test your actual passengers, child-seat arrangement and luggage before choosing. Five seating positions do not prove every combination of adults, equipment and child seats will fit.
Specify essential comfort, connectivity and parking equipment first. Compare only cars that meet those requirements, checking model year and service terms alongside the agreement figures.
No. The standard warranty and service-activated Dacia Zen programme have different conditions. Confirm time, mileage and service eligibility for the vehicle offered.
IVF considers the car, term, mileage, initial rental and maintenance requirements through its funder panel. Compare all proposals on matching assumptions and confirm vehicle availability separately.
No. Where a company car is available for private use, its taxable value and certified CO2 band matter. An accountant should calculate the actual liability for the selected Sandero.
