Your DS N°7 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare DS N°7 business and personal leasing across the new hybrid and electric range. DS UK identifies N°7 as the replacement for DS 7, with a different powertrain choice. Decide whether you can charge regularly, then confirm the exact version, equipment and contract for your journeys.

DS N°7 business lease: hybrid or electric comes before trim

N°7 is a new-generation DS SUV for a driver considering passenger comfort, a distinctive cabin and an electrified powertrain. Its most useful first question is straightforward: do you want to plug the car in? The current HYBRID 145 and battery-electric E-TENSE versions answer that question differently. They should not be treated as minor trim variations with the same running-cost assumptions.

For a business driver, electric company-car tax may make E-TENSE worth investigating, but the car must still work on your routes. For a private driver without dependable charging, the non-plug-in hybrid is a separate proposition. In either case, test rear seating, entry and exit and the loading arrangement with your normal passengers. Design and equipment matter most when they improve the journeys you actually make.

The outgoing DS 7 has its own IVF route. A buyer comparing the names needs to know that older DS 7 plug-in hybrid descriptions do not define the new N°7 range. The DS N°8 is another distinct model to consider if you are exploring the brand’s electric passenger cars. Give each its own cabin and luggage assessment rather than assuming the model number establishes suitability.

DS N°7 leasing: key facts

  • DS UK announced N°7 on 17 March 2026 as the replacement for DS 7; it is a new generation, not just a badge change.
  • Current UK pages list HYBRID 145 and battery-electric E-TENSE; the new N°7 hybrid is not a plug-in hybrid.
  • DS gives N°7 dimensions of 4,660 mm long and 1,900 mm wide excluding mirrors; check your parking space including mirror clearance.
  • DS lists five seats and up to 560 litres of luggage space; verify the powertrain, equipment and loading convention of the offered car.
  • IVF’s 11 captured entries span HYBRID 145 and electric versions, with Pallas, Étoile and La Première labels.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

N°7 replaces DS 7, but the powertrain meanings have changed

DS UK’s 17 March 2026 announcement explicitly identifies N°7 as the replacement for DS 7. Current UK product pages show both hybrid and electric versions, and include an order offer running during July to September 2026. That supports a current UK product position; it does not establish the availability or delivery date of any IVF quotation.

The new HYBRID 145 is not a plug-in hybrid. E-TENSE on the current N°7 electric page identifies the battery-electric range, whereas readers may remember that wording from earlier DS plug-in hybrid models. Read the full model and powertrain together. A search for a DS 7 E-TENSE should not quietly land you in a quotation for a different-generation electric N°7 without the change being explained.

IVF’s grid contains HYBRID 145 entries and electric entries labelled 74 kWh and 97 kWh, including Long Range and AWD descriptions. DS’s UK pages identify electric FWD, FWD Long Range and AWD Long Range choices. Catalogue power labels and manufacturer headline power can use different references, including boost. Obtain the technical specification for the precise derivative rather than interpreting the largest number as a continuous output.

Pallas, Étoile and La Première: choose useful equipment

The captured IVF range includes Pallas, Étoile and La Première. These names do not establish that every comfort or assistance feature pictured by DS is standard. Build a short list of functions you care about, such as seat adjustment, lighting, parking visibility and the rear passenger environment. Then have those functions matched to the supplied car and any fitted packs.

DS promotes features including camera-linked suspension and driver-assistance technology, subject to version. If those features are central to your decision, test them and request written confirmation of fitment. A demonstration in one version is not evidence for another. Driver assistance also has operating limits and does not remove the driver’s responsibility to supervise the road.

The published body width is 1,900 mm before mirrors. Allow for mirror clearance, opening doors and the way your parking space is approached. The five-seat cabin and up-to-560-litre luggage reference give useful context, but neither tells you whether the particular child seats or rigid bags you use fit comfortably. Check the exact powertrain and equipment when comparing load space, especially if alternative cars quote a different measuring convention.

Two N°7 energy plans, with different practical obligations

For E-TENSE, identify a dependable place to charge and a workable longer-trip plan. Compare the certified range of the specific FWD or AWD car, including its wheels, with the journeys you need to make. Manufacturer maxima are not universal figures for every N°7. This page does not attach one advertised range or charging time to all of IVF’s battery labels.

The HYBRID 145 avoids an external charging routine, but it still uses petrol and does not receive the zero-emission company-car treatment. Short periods of electric propulsion do not make it an electric-only car. Ask for its certified CO2 and fuel-consumption data, then judge how it fits your own traffic pattern. Do not use a plug-in hybrid fuel result from an outgoing DS 7 as its benchmark.

For either route, discuss what happens over the whole lease. Confirm the first-registration date, vehicle warranty, any separate battery cover and connected-service terms. A launch edition is an equipment choice, not a promise that services remain included indefinitely. If the agreement extends beyond the original cover or service period, understand the next steps before signing. A clear written specification is especially valuable during a model-generation change.

DS N°7 company-car tax across the lease

N°7 has two different company-car tax routes. Zero-emission E-TENSE uses the electric percentages below. HYBRID 145 uses the appropriate CO2 band. The 115-119 g/km row is conditional on the supplied hybrid being certified in that band, not a promise about every configuration.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every DS N°7. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. N°7 HYBRID is outside the proposed eVED categories. For electric N°7, government plans an additional 3p-per-mile charge from April 2028, alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation. The planned PHEV charge is 1.5p per mile, but N°7 HYBRID is not a plug-in. These are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Ask how the funder would administer changes and check the government consultation response.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

DS N°7 leasing questions

Is DS N°7 simply another spelling of DS 7?

No. DS UK’s March 2026 announcement describes N°7 as the new-generation replacement for DS 7. The outgoing model has a separate IVF route. Compare the actual generation and powertrain before transferring specifications or tax assumptions between the two names.

Is the new N°7 HYBRID a plug-in hybrid?

No. DS UK explicitly distinguishes the HYBRID 145 from its battery-electric E-TENSE alternatives. The non-plug-in hybrid uses petrol and electric assistance without an external charging routine; it is not the outgoing DS 7 plug-in hybrid.

What does E-TENSE mean on N°7?

On the current N°7 electric range it identifies battery-electric versions. Older DS models also used E-TENSE terminology, so read the full model name and generation. A familiar badge does not prove the same charging or engine arrangement.

Which N°7 versions appear on IVF?

The September capture contains HYBRID 145 and electric entries, including Long Range and AWD descriptions, across Pallas, Étoile and La Première labels. Ask IVF to reconcile the exact battery, motor and equipment specification before quoting.

How wide is N°7?

DS’s current UK page gives 1,900 mm excluding mirrors. A parking assessment needs mirror width, door-opening room and access angles as well. Check those measurements against your actual space rather than using the body-width figure alone.

Can I assume every N°7 has the advertised comfort technology?

No. DS states that equipment depends on version. Specify the seating, lighting, suspension and assistance features you need, and have them confirmed on the actual derivative. A feature demonstrated in a launch car may not be included in another quotation.

Does the hybrid use the same BiK rate as electric N°7?

No. The zero-emission E-TENSE versions follow the electric path. HYBRID 145 needs an emissions-based calculation using certified CO2 and P11D. Do not apply plug-in hybrid thresholds to a hybrid that is not externally rechargeable.

Is the maximum advertised electric range valid for every N°7?

No. FWD, Long Range and AWD specifications differ, as can wheels and equipment. Obtain the correct WLTP value for the proposed car and allow for weather, speed and load. Catalogue battery labels alone do not establish real-world distance.

Why compare N°7 with N°8?

It helps a driver exploring electric DS models decide which cabin, body shape and luggage arrangement suit the journey. They are separate cars. Try the seating and loading areas rather than treating a higher model number as the automatic choice.

What should accompany a DS N°7 lease quote?

The generation, powertrain, battery where relevant, trim, fitted options, model year and registration details should be clear. Compare term, mileage, initial rental, maintenance and fees consistently, with tax and warranty details checked for the specific car.
