Your GWM Poer 300 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps businesses compare GWM Poer 300 leasing across the UK Lux, Ultra and Vanta grades. This diesel automatic double cab needs a specification built around towing, bed equipment and local support. Check accessory compatibility carefully, particularly the Vanta sports bar, before choosing a working vehicle.

Poer 300 business leasing: choose the equipment your job needs

The POER300 is a current UK diesel double-cab pickup, following GWM’s announced UK introduction in September 2025. By the 28 September 2026 check, the manufacturer’s UK pages and IVF catalogue both list Lux, Ultra and Vanta. It should be evaluated as a specific working vehicle with its own support arrangements, rather than as a generic alternative carrying a familiar towing headline.

Start with the job behind the cabin. A business carrying tools under a cover may need a different grade and accessory combination from one transporting open equipment. Decide which items must stay dry, which need side access and whether a trailer is used regularly. The bed installation can determine the correct specification before comfort equipment enters the comparison.

For a driver travelling between sites, useful cabin equipment and easy manoeuvring can matter over a long working week. Separate those requirements from styling preferences. Ask for the complete model-year specification and a written list of additions, so the final quotation describes a vehicle that will do the work rather than a grade name plus assumptions.

GWM Poer 300 leasing: key facts

  • GWM UK currently lists POER300 in Lux, Ultra and Vanta grades. The IVF catalogue capture contains those three diesel automatic double-cab descriptions.
  • The June 2026 UK brochure describes a 2.4-litre turbo diesel, nine-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, with 480Nm stated torque.
  • The UK brochure lists 5,416mm overall length and a 1,520mm by 1,520mm load tray. Confirm usable space after the chosen accessories.
  • GWM’s UK launch material states 1,000kg payload and 3,500kg braked towing. Obtain grade-specific completed weights and train limits for the actual quotation.
  • GWM UK warns that the Vanta factory sports bar is incompatible with most accessories. Have the planned bed installation checked before selecting the grade.
  • The current UK model page advertises five-year or 125,000-mile vehicle warranty cover. Confirm the exact terms, start date and servicing requirements.

Lux, Ultra and Vanta should be compared against the bed plan

The UK brochure provides a trim walk for Lux, Ultra and Vanta. It identifies equipment such as connectivity and driver information in the range, then additional comfort, camera and styling features across the grades. Use the actual offered model year’s specification to confirm what is included; a model-level promotional photograph does not prove an item is standard on every version.

Vanta needs a particular check. GWM’s current UK page explicitly warns that its factory-fitted sports bar is not compatible with most accessories. If the business needs a canopy, tonneau cover or other bed equipment, obtain written confirmation of the exact combination before choosing that grade. Do not assume an accessory which fits another POER300 will also fit Vanta.

Consider the consequences for the lease as well as the installation. Agree who supplies the equipment, whether it remains with the vehicle at return and what the funder permits. An attractive trim package may be the wrong working choice if it complicates secure storage or requires unapproved modifications. Resolve that question before ordering, not at the fitting appointment.

Measure the tray and the places where the pickup will work

The June 2026 UK brochure gives an overall length of 5,416mm and a tray measuring 1,520mm by 1,520mm. These are useful initial reference dimensions, not proof of the clear loading space beneath a cover or around the wheel arches. Measure the largest item, its packaging and the room needed to secure it in the proposed completed vehicle.

A square-looking tray can still be awkward for long tools or equipment that must be reached repeatedly. Plan where the everyday items sit and whether the driver can get to them without climbing into the bed. Check tailgate movement, canopy doors and access to tie-down points with the full load in place, including anything brought back from the job.

The pickup’s exterior dimensions also affect parking at customers and depots. Check turning and reversing space with the trailer attached if towing is regular. Cameras and sensors can help awareness, but they do not create clearance or replace a safe loading plan. A practical inspection of the tightest regular location is more informative than choosing from the cab specification alone.

The diesel automatic specification is only part of a towing assessment

GWM’s UK brochure describes a 2.4-litre turbo diesel with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. It states 480Nm torque. Those specifications identify the current UK reference; they do not establish the loaded combination your particular operation can legally or safely use. Obtain the supplied vehicle’s approved weights and operating instructions.

The UK launch release states a 1,000kg payload and 3,500kg braked towing capacity. Treat them as separately stated manufacturer figures until the exact grade’s kerb definition, completed mass, axle limits and gross train limit are confirmed. Occupants, bed equipment and coupling nose load must be considered before deciding what goods and trailer load can travel together.

For site access, describe the actual surface and gradient rather than simply requesting four-wheel drive. Confirm tyre suitability and any restrictions in the manufacturer and funder terms. Driver entitlement, trailer rules and operator obligations remain separate checks. A mechanical towing rating is one input to the decision, not a personal compliance determination for the business.

Confirm the local support arrangement before the pickup starts work

GWM UK advertises a five-year or 125,000-mile vehicle warranty on the current POER300 page. Establish the terms and starting point for the vehicle offered, including the service schedule and any limits applying to accessories. A warranty does not by itself include servicing, tyres, downtime compensation or a like-for-like replacement pickup.

Check which local retailer or workshop will maintain the diesel pickup and deal with its fitted equipment. An expanding model range does not prove every nearby location supports every job. Ask who takes responsibility for diagnosis, parts and installer issues, particularly if the bed installation is essential to the business’s daily work.

The handover should demonstrate the controls relevant to towing and site use, and identify the supplied keys, service information and accessory instructions. Record the finished bed and any modifications with photographs. That creates a clear starting record for maintenance and return, and makes it easier to separate vehicle wear from damage to removable work equipment.

POER300 double-cab benefit: assess it under the current rules

HMRC’s guidance from 6 April 2025 assesses a double-cab pickup’s primary suitability as a whole and expects most to be cars for benefit purposes. GWM’s one-tonne payload statement therefore is not proof of van-benefit treatment. EIM23151 sets out the benefit rule.

The benefit transition protects qualifying vehicles bought, leased or ordered before 6 April 2025 only until the earliest of disposal, lease expiry or 5 April 2029. Do not build a new POER300 enquiry around that transition without evidence that the actual arrangement qualifies. The 2029 double-cab article explains why the dates matter.

For a diesel pickup treated as a company car, establish P11D value, certified emissions and the relevant percentage. The maximum bands are 37% in 2026/27 and 2027/28, then 38% in 2028/29 and 39% in 2029/30. They are ceilings rather than a blanket assigned rate or personal tax amount. Read the emissions tables and the future-year changes.

Qualifying van arrangements use a different regime: the 2026/27 standard benefit is £4,170 and fuel benefit £798 where applicable, while a qualifying zero-emission van has nil benefit. The diesel POER300 should not inherit the electric-van result. Later cash van-benefit amounts are not stated here. GOV.UK company-van values.

Sources checked 28 September 2026. Ask the accountant to calculate the actual employee or director position over the agreement, including private fuel and any relevant adjustments. Sole-trader use needs its own assessment. The company-car tax guide helps explain the framework without replacing that advice.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). The benefit change does not automatically move the pickup into passenger-car road-tax treatment. A qualifying TC39 light goods vehicle registered from 1 March 2001 and not over 3,500kg revenue weight has a £360 single annual VED payment in 2026/27. Check the actual POER300 registration class. Read the VED rate tables.

Expensive Car Supplement. Establish the road-tax category before applying any car Expensive Car Supplement. A company-car benefit assessment and a list price are not, on their own, evidence that the supplement applies to the registered pickup.

Planned eVED. The proposed April 2028 eVED introduction concerns electric and plug-in hybrid cars, with vans excluded in the July 2026 response. The diesel POER300 is not an electric-car mileage-charge case merely because it is a car for benefit purposes. Review any later policy changes separately. Government eVED response.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT definitions and recovery rules are separate from employment benefit. Confirm the specific vehicle’s payload and construction, the business’s VAT scheme and its private use before estimating rental VAT recovery. Do not assume that the benefit change imports the car restriction automatically. Use HMRC Notice 700/64.

For capital allowances, the relevant pickup changes took effect on 1 April 2025 for Corporation Tax and 6 April 2025 for Income Tax. Limited earlier-contract protection requires expenditure before 1 October 2025; it is distinct from the 2029 benefit transition. CA23511 explains the capital-allowance treatment. The accountant should assess lease deductions and accounting independently.

Talk through the vehicle and agreement with IVF. Call 01752 429950 or request a callback with your business requirements.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, crew, loads, towing, fitted equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

GWM Poer 300 leasing questions

Is POER300 currently offered in the UK?

Yes. GWM UK’s current pages list it, and IVF’s September 2026 catalogue has Lux, Ultra and Vanta diesel automatic double-cab entries. Confirm the specific vehicle and supply position before relying on a quotation.

What engine and transmission does the UK reference use?

The June 2026 UK brochure describes a 2.4-litre turbo diesel with a nine-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. Confirm the offered model year and its technical documents.

Why does Vanta need an accessory check?

GWM UK warns that its factory sports bar is incompatible with most accessories. Obtain written confirmation that the precise canopy, cover or bed equipment you need can be fitted before selecting the grade.

Can I use the tray dimensions to order a canopy?

Not alone. Confirm the actual body, fixing points, sports bar and accessory compatibility. The brochure tray dimensions do not describe every cover’s clear opening or installation requirements.

Does a 1,000kg payload mean that much cargo after fitting equipment?

No. Establish the manufacturer’s mass definition and the completed vehicle’s allowance for occupants, accessories and goods. Axle and train limits also matter for a working pickup.

Can I combine the maximum payload and towing headlines?

Only if the actual combination satisfies all applicable limits. Obtain the grade-specific train, axle, trailer and coupling figures and calculate with realistic laden weights rather than adding marketing maxima.

Does the warranty include routine servicing?

Do not assume so. Confirm the actual warranty terms, mileage cap and start date, then check servicing, tyres, accessory cover and any replacement-vehicle provision separately in the agreement.

Is a one-tonne POER300 automatically a van for benefit tax?

No. HMRC’s post-April 2025 double-cab guidance looks at the vehicle as a whole and expects most to be cars for benefit purposes. VAT and road-tax classification remain separate questions.

Can a new order use the 2029 benefit transition?

The transition applies only to qualifying earlier purchase, lease or order arrangements. It is not a general concession for new pickups. Have the accountant check the actual transaction and dates.

What should I include in a POER300 enquiry?

Specify grade preferences, essential bed accessories, occupant and load weights, trailer duty, annual mileage and operating base. Mention any site-access or parking constraints so the proposed specification can be checked.
