Your Lexus LM leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance can help assess Lexus LM business or personal leasing for executive passenger travel. The LM 350h is a petrol hybrid MPV with four-seat and seven-seat layouts. Begin with passenger numbers, luggage and chauffeur use, then confirm the exact vehicle, funder permissions and tax position before requesting a quotation.

Lexus LM business leasing: begin in the passenger compartment

An LM makes sense when the person travelling in the rear is central to the decision. That could be a business owner moving between appointments, an executive team or a private household using a chauffeur. The useful question is how those journeys work: who travels, how much luggage accompanies them and whether the vehicle must carry additional colleagues at short notice. Choose the seating layout before the cosmetic specification.

The four-seat cabin concentrates the space around fewer occupants. A seven-seat configuration preserves the ability to move a larger party, but you should test the luggage arrangement with the seats you actually need in position. Counting seatbelts alone does not establish airport-transfer suitability. Ask for a demonstration with representative cases, coats and hand luggage, including the space the driver needs for their own equipment.

Our assessment is that the LM should be shortlisted for its passenger environment, not as a substitute for every large family SUV. A driver who mainly travels alone may get little value from its rear-cabin priorities. A team needing flexible people movement should also compare a conventional passenger MPV. Be clear whether this is an owner-driven company car, a dedicated executive vehicle or a licensed transport operation.

Lexus LM leasing: key facts

  • Lexus UK presents the LM 350h as a petrol hybrid, with no plug-in charging requirement.
  • UK LM layouts include seven seats and the four-seat Takumi cabin; identify the quoted configuration.
  • Lexus UK technical data gives a length of 5,125 mm and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
  • The February 2024 UK specification lists a 2,487 cc petrol engine; use it only for the corresponding LM 350h generation.
  • IVF’s captured catalogue includes LM 350h, an explicitly labelled 2WD version and Takumi 4 Seat. These are enquiry references, not confirmed allocation.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

Four-seat Takumi or seven-seat LM: write the layout into the brief

IVF’s live route was checked on 27 September 2026. It listed 350h 2.5 Takumi 5dr E-CVT 4 Seat, 350h 2.5 5dr E-CVT and 350h 2.5 5dr E-CVT 2WD. The latter two labels do not spell out every seating or equipment detail. Require the supplier specification to confirm seats, driven wheels, model year and fitted packs rather than completing a missing label from memory.

For a regular pair of rear passengers, establish how their seats adjust, how they operate climate and entertainment functions, and whether those controls remain straightforward while moving. For a mixed passenger group, practise getting to the rear row without disrupting someone already seated. An impressive demonstration with an empty cabin can conceal the inconvenience of moving bags or changing seats during a busy working day.

Lexus’s technical dimensions make the LM a substantial vehicle. Measure the actual parking entrance, turning space and drop-off area, including clearance for opening the tailgate. A comfortable passenger compartment is only useful if arrivals and departures are manageable. Where a chauffeur keeps the vehicle overnight, include their parking location and journey to the first collection in the mileage calculation.

Chauffeur and executive-transport checks before a lease quotation

Tell IVF at the outset if the LM will carry paying passengers. A personal or ordinary business-use quotation should not be assumed to permit private-hire work. The funder, insurer and relevant licensing authority need to accept the exact use. Obtain that acceptance before relying on an agreement, and make clear who holds the vehicle, who drives it and how replacement transport would be arranged.

For an internal company chauffeur, record private availability separately from business journeys. A senior employee having a dedicated driver does not by itself settle the benefit-in-kind treatment. Ask the accountant to review the actual arrangement rather than treating every executive trip as exempt. The cost of a passenger service and the employee’s personal tax are different decisions.

Build the operational brief around recurring duties. Include airport waiting time, out-of-hours journeys, cleaning, servicing access and the mileage created by empty positioning trips. These are planning questions, not a claim about an LM’s reliability or operating costs. If the vehicle is critical to booked work, confirm the contract’s assistance and replacement provisions in writing.

Hybrid operation without a charging schedule

The LM 350h is a petrol hybrid. It does not need the charging routine of a battery-electric car, but its electric assistance does not make it a zero-emission company car. That distinction matters when comparing it with an electric executive saloon or SUV. Compare the passenger task first and then calculate the separate tax and energy consequences for the actual vehicles.

The Lexus RX is a useful alternative when the decision is primarily about an owner-driven SUV with occasional rear passengers. A Genesis G80 deserves consideration for a saloon-based executive brief, with its own powertrain and availability checks. Neither comparison implies equal seating, luggage capacity or a like-for-like passenger service. Ask which compromise your actual journeys can accept.

Lexus LM company-car tax across the lease

The LM is a useful reminder that hybrid and low company-car tax are not synonyms. IVF’s snapshot shows 152 g/km for the explicitly labelled 2WD car and 163 g/km for the other two rows. Those unverified catalogue values must be checked against the supplied vehicle’s certificate; the table below illustrates the corresponding bands, not a confirmed personal tax quotation.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Lexus LM. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The petrol, diesel or non-plug-in hybrid Lexus LM covered here is outside those planned electric and plug-in hybrid categories. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Lexus LM leasing questions

Can I lease a Lexus LM for my business?

Ask IVF to assess Business Contract Hire for the exact LM and intended use. Explain who will travel, who will drive and whether passengers pay for transport. Ordinary company-car use and licensed chauffeur work can require different funder and insurance permissions; a catalogue listing does not establish either approval.

Is the LM a four-seat or seven-seat vehicle?

Lexus UK offers both layouts within the LM range. IVF’s Takumi listing explicitly says 4 Seat. Confirm the complete seating specification for the offered car, including any other derivative whose catalogue label does not state the count, before planning passenger or luggage capacity.

Is the Lexus LM electric or a plug-in hybrid?

The LM 350h is a petrol hybrid, not a battery-electric car or a plug-in hybrid. It does not need mains charging. Its company-car tax follows the relevant certified emissions band rather than the zero-emission percentage used for an electric car.

Does the four-seat layout suit airport transfers?

Assess it with the actual number of travellers and their luggage. The cabin choice can suit a passenger-focused brief, but comfort and seat count do not confirm luggage fit or permission for private-hire use. Demonstrate the loading arrangement and obtain the appropriate contractual and insurance acceptance.

Can I choose the two-wheel-drive LM?

The captured IVF catalogue includes a derivative explicitly labelled 2WD. Ask for its current supply position and full specification. Do not infer the driven wheels of another LM simply because its shortened listing omits that detail.

What should a chauffeur check on a demonstration?

Test access to the rear seats, passenger controls, communication, case loading and the space needed at regular collection points. Include the driver’s parking and working environment. Have the intended passenger take part rather than making the decision solely from the front seat.

How is a Lexus LM lease price worked out?

IVF needs the exact seating layout and derivative, annual mileage, term, initial rental preference and maintenance requirement. Specialist use can affect eligibility. Request a written quotation on an agreed basis before comparing figures, and check the treatment of road-tax changes during the term.

Will a company chauffeur remove the BiK charge?

Do not assume so. Private availability and the actual employment arrangement need an accountant’s review. The car’s taxable benefit is distinct from the business cost of employing a driver, and the LM’s hybrid badge does not confer electric-car tax treatment.

What is the alternative if I mainly drive myself?

Compare the Lexus RX for an SUV-led brief or the Genesis G80 for an executive saloon brief. Test your passenger and luggage needs in each. The LM’s distinctive reason for choosing it is the emphasis on the rear occupants, which may be less important to a solo driver.

Can IVF confirm an LM delivery date from this page?

No. The listed derivatives identify possible enquiries, not a verified vehicle allocation. Ask for the specific car, registration status, equipment and supply timing to be confirmed with the quotation before arranging a replacement vehicle or committing to transport work.
