Lotus presents two very different electric-car briefs in the live IVF catalogue. Eletre supplies the SUV body and its access position; Emeya provides a lower GT format. Both offer substantial performance, but the useful first decision is which cabin your passengers can live with and which body fits the places you regularly visit.
For a business owner, the car may carry colleagues or clients as often as it provides a private driving experience. For a considered private buyer, it may be the main household car or one with a narrower touring role. State that role before choosing between four-seat and other configurations, and before deciding how much emphasis to place on acceleration.
The Lotus name also includes the petrol Emira sports car in the UK range. Ask IVF about the specific car and current supply if that is the experience you want. The electric SUV and GT specifications below must not be carried across to this separate sports-car choice.
These model routes are starting points for a specific enquiry. A live listing does not establish a current factory order, allocated car or delivery date.
| Model page | Body and powertrain | Decision to make |
|---|---|---|
| Eletre | Electric SUV | Seat layout, access and current versus earlier grade. |
| Emeya | Lower electric GT | Rear accommodation and load opening. |
| Emira | Petrol sports car in Lotus’s UK range | Discuss current UK specification, supply and separate warranty. |
Eletre’s listed entries include 450 kW and 675 kW descriptions with a 112 kWh battery label. Emeya’s include those output descriptions with a 102 kWh label. These catalogue identifiers need to be reconciled with the precise UK generation and grade offered; they do not establish usable battery energy or a universal range figure.
Current Eletre 900 is quoted at 2.95 seconds from 0–62 mph, while current Emeya 900 is quoted at 2.78 seconds. The difference is 0.17 seconds between these named current specifications. Earlier S and R entries and lower-output versions require their own figures. That narrow headline comparison is a reason to give serious attention to body, seats and practical use instead of choosing solely by the stopwatch.
Both linked models are electric, but motor layout, equipment and tyre specification still matter. Ask whether a feature seen on a demonstration vehicle belongs to the actual quoted car. A later naming convention does not automatically update an older catalogue description’s hardware.
Emira belongs to a separate petrol-car discussion. Establish the current UK derivative, gearbox and available vehicle before attempting a company-car or maintenance comparison. Neither the EV battery policy nor Eletre’s charging equipment is relevant evidence for that sports car.
A Lotus company-car brief needs a clear distinction between the director’s preference and the business requirements the vehicle must fulfil. If rear passengers travel regularly, check their access and seating with the driver in position. An individual rear-chair layout can suit one role while an occasional fifth passenger makes another configuration necessary.
Assess the complete commitment with the accountant. The zero-emission percentage for Eletre or Emeya is applied to the actual taxable value, and it changes across the tax years in a longer agreement. The business also needs to consider the hire, insurance, charging arrangements and any employer liabilities independently of the personal benefit calculation.
Where the car visits customer sites, check parking and charging access at those destinations before treating a workplace charger as the whole solution. A large electric car should fit the working itinerary without requiring repeated disruption to meetings or passenger arrangements.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
For personal hire, decide how often the Lotus will carry more than two people and what sort of journeys they make. An occasional short rear-seat trip tests something different from an adult spending several hours there. Compare Eletre and Emeya with those passengers, rather than treating the cabin photographs as proof of comfort.
Measure the parking space and the room needed to get in and load luggage. A lower GT body and an SUV create different access movements even if both offer the equipment you want. Consider the regular household driver as well as the person selecting the car, especially when seat adjustment and visibility preferences differ.
A Lotus company-car calculation follows the supplied vehicle and its private availability. Use the complete four-year schedule below with the actual P11D and certified emissions, rather than treating a model badge as a tax category.
The following retained illustration uses the 10 September 2026 catalogue snapshot. It assumes a full year, 40% personal income tax and no contributions or adjustments. It is not a vehicle quotation, employer cost or like-for-like saving.
| Listed derivative | P11D | Tax basis | BiK | Tax at 40% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eletre 450kW 600 GT 112kWh 5dr Auto | £91,240 | Zero-emission electric | 4% | £1,459.84 |
| Emeya 450kW 600 GT 102kWh 4dr Auto | £91,240 | Zero-emission electric | 4% | £1,459.84 |
The annual benefit is the P11D value multiplied by the applicable percentage; the driver pays their income tax rate on that benefit. Sole traders need their own business-use assessment. Confirm the offered car and the tax year before relying on these historical inputs.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission Eletre or Emeya | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| High-CO2 petrol at the maximum band; exact Emira requires assessment | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Lotus. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
Eletre’s up-to-22 kW AC capability is useful only when the car and the electrical installation both support it. A compatible three-phase workplace supply can make different use of that capability from a lower-powered domestic connection. The onboard charger does not increase the power available from the building.
For either electric Lotus, identify the battery, motors, wheels and model year before using a manufacturer range or rapid-charging benchmark. The 112 and 102 kWh catalogue labels alone are not enough to calculate a journey or a full charging session. Emeya needs its own specification rather than inheriting Eletre’s AC or DC figures.
Plan the longest recurring trip with a reserve and an alternative charging stop. Passenger comfort during a stop, access to facilities and the time the car spends parked can matter as much as the charger’s advertised rating. Starting charge, battery temperature and the actual charge-point output all affect the session.
Estimate the energy commitment from the tariffs you expect to use. Home, workplace and public charging are different cost situations. A performance-oriented driving style or sustained motorway travel also changes the result compared with a laboratory test, so avoid assuming the longest advertised distance will describe every journey.
Lotus’s UK Eletre and Emeya pages state five years or 100,000 miles of standard vehicle warranty, with the applicable non-wear-component scope and exclusions. The actual registration and policy documents should accompany the offered car. Warranty limits from another market should not be substituted for these UK terms.
Battery and electric-drive-system protection is separately stated as eight years or 125,000 miles. The policy includes maintaining at least 70% battery state of health under its conditions. This is not a promise that the battery retains its original capacity, nor that every component receives eight-year cover.
Emira’s UK warranty page states a separate three-year standard warranty. Its detailed conditions and mileage treatment need to be checked for the car offered; the longer electric-model headline does not apply automatically. Keep servicing, tyres, assistance and warranty extension provisions distinct in the quotation.
For a higher-mileage agreement, identify where maintenance will be carried out and what happens if the vehicle reaches a warranty limit before return. Optional maintenance should explicitly address the supplied wheel and tyre specification as well as the scheduled services. Performance equipment still needs ordinary servicing and documented care.
Four-seat Eletre and Emeya entries are explicit in the catalogue. That is a meaningful configuration choice: an individual rear-chair arrangement is not a five-seat cabin with a more elaborate centre armrest. If a fifth passenger ever forms part of the essential use, settle the fitted layout before selecting another option.
Try luggage with the required seats occupied and check the opening, loading height and any storage under the floor. Eletre’s SUV shape and Emeya’s lower body should be assessed as different physical spaces. Do not assume that a large overall car automatically accepts the particular cases or equipment you carry.
Check insurance for the actual derivative and drivers, then read the tyre and wheel provisions in any maintenance package. Clarify the treatment of accidental damage and the return condition before signing. These costs are part of living with a performance car even when the page carries no rental figures.
Finally, distinguish an allocated car from a general order enquiry. Exact colour, seating and performance combinations can matter strongly to a Lotus buyer, so confirm which details are fixed and which remain subject to supply. Arrange the replacement of an existing car only against a specific agreed handover position.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
For a large electric SUV, compare Eletre with Polestar 3 using the same passenger configuration and luggage requirement. Within Lotus, Emeya tests whether a lower touring body is more suitable. If the intended role is a petrol sports car, discuss Emira separately with its own UK specification and supply evidence.

Begin with Eletre’s SUV body or Emeya’s lower GT layout, then fix the seats and actual grade. Compare term, mileage and maintenance consistently. A performance headline is less useful than a specification that works for your passengers and daily route.
It can be assessed against the actual work and private-use requirements. Check rear passengers, parking and charging, then obtain the precise taxable value and agreement. The personal BiK percentage is separate from the business’s complete operating commitment.
No. The current catalogue explicitly includes four-seat versions. Require the fitted layout in the quotation, and do not assume another passenger place can be created by adjusting the rear seats.
No. The published current benchmarks belong to named specifications. Earlier S/R descriptions and other motor combinations need their own UK technical data. Keep generation and grade together throughout the comparison.
No. Eletre’s supported capability depends on the supplied equipment and a compatible electrical source. A lower-powered domestic connection remains limited by that source. Check the installation and car before relying on a charging schedule.
No. Confirm usable capacity, model year, motors, wheels and the applicable UK test figure. Weather, speed and load affect the actual journey. Eletre and Emeya need separate charging and range evidence.
The Eletre and Emeya pages state five years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle, with separate eight-year/125,000-mile battery and electric-drive-system terms. Obtain the full exclusions and capacity conditions for the car offered.
No. Emira is a separate petrol sports-car enquiry with its own three-year standard warranty statement and detailed conditions. IVF must establish the specific UK car and current supply; the electric models’ warranty terms do not describe it.
Check the actual seat configuration, access, driving position and luggage with the passengers who will use it. Compare Eletre and Emeya on those tasks before deciding whether a particular performance grade is necessary.
IVF needs the identified vehicle, exact equipment and supply position, together with completed funder requirements. A model listing or manufacturer launch does not reserve a car. State the required date and wait for the specific handover arrangements.
