Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you navigate Porsche 718 leasing across Cayman, Boxster and Spyder searches. Porsche ended production of the petrol 718 in October 2025; any new-car supply needs individual confirmation. IVF’s 718 route currently lists one convertible RS description. Use the separate Cayman and Boxster pages for those body-specific decisions.
The 718 name is a family decision before it is a derivative choice. Use this page to decide whether you want a fixed-roof sports car, an open car or a more specialised variant, then follow the Cayman or Boxster route for the body that fits. It serves a different purpose from repeating two complete model guides. The key question is which experience you want often enough to accept the corresponding practical compromises.
A driver looking for a focused second car may value the open-air experience or the compact sports-car layout more than passenger flexibility. Someone expecting one vehicle to manage business visits, family duties and bulky equipment needs to test that premise carefully. The 718 is most convincing when its role is clear before a specification or contract is selected.
Petrol production ended in October 2025 according to Porsche’s July 2026 deliveries statement. In September 2026, a retained manufacturer or broker page is therefore not evidence of a fresh factory build slot. Any proposal must identify the actual new vehicle and funder terms. A future electric 718 programme is a separate product question and does not turn the petrol catalogue into an electric-car order route.
| Route | Use it when | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| 718 family | Choosing a branch or resolving Spyder/RS identity | One captured convertible RS entry, no family-wide supply claim |
| Cayman | A fixed roof is the chosen starting point | Check the exact petrol car and supply |
| Boxster | An open car is the chosen starting point | Confirm body, roof and derivative separately |
The Cayman is the fixed-roof branch and the Boxster is the open branch. Begin by comparing roof preference, luggage access and everyday entry rather than treating one as a trim of the other. The practical test should include the bags you regularly carry and the places you park. If the roof is central to the appeal, try the relevant operation and storage arrangements rather than relying on photographs.
GTS, Spyder and GT4 searches then narrow the character of the car further. They are not a single ascending list of cosmetic packages. Identify the exact body, engine, gearbox and chassis specification behind the name. A GT4 or Spyder reference from a different model year cannot establish what a current proposal includes. The intention here is to help you ask a precise question, not imply that all historical variants can be ordered.
IVF’s current 718 row is labelled 4.0 RS 2dr PDK and Convertible. That makes a Spyder enquiry relevant, but the row itself does not spell out Spyder. Confirm the full vehicle identity before calling it a Spyder RS in a quotation. Equally, do not describe that single entry as a choice of Cayman GTS, GT4 and Boxster versions. Their separate routes and any proposed vehicle need their own checks.
Check the driving position in the exact seat type being proposed. A seat that looks desirable can be inconvenient for repeated entry, business clothing or a second driver. Test the view at junctions and the clearance on your usual access ramps. If luggage must be divided between compartments, establish whether the items you actually use fit safely, rather than relying on a combined volume figure.
For an open car, consider roof use across the full year, secure parking and the equipment that must remain inside. For a fixed-roof car, ask whether the cabin and loading arrangement solve your everyday needs better. These are legitimate reasons to choose one branch even if another has a more dramatic badge. The decision should remain credible on an ordinary wet commute as well as a leisure drive.
Performance-oriented variants also make maintenance, tyre specification and permitted use important questions. A manufacturer’s circuit imagery is not permission to use a leased car on track. Any such plan requires explicit written funder and insurance agreement. For normal road use, understand what the maintenance product covers and what damage or wear remains your responsibility at return.
Porsche’s product-strategy statement identifies a future electric sports car in the 718 segment, but this pack does not establish a UK order date, price, battery or delivery schedule. Do not put a current petrol enquiry on hold against an invented launch timetable. If electric power is essential now, the live Taycan route is a different, established comparison to discuss rather than a claim that the future 718 is available.
The 911 is another live Porsche route if your priority is a current sports-car alternative, but it should not be presented as the same car with a different number. Revisit passenger needs, size, specification and the financial commitment. A replacement shortlist is useful only when you are clear which parts of the original 718 brief may change.
A 718 lease-price enquiry should identify the actual vehicle before comparing terms. Clarify registration, warranty start, specification and accessories, then align mileage, term, initial rental and maintenance. For a director’s car, calculate the personal tax using its P11D and certified emissions. A petrol RS does not share the future electric model’s possible tax treatment, and no residual-value or ownership-return promise belongs in a contract-hire decision.
This tax discussion concerns the petrol 718 enquiry. A future electric sports car is not the same taxable vehicle. An employee or director needs the precise P11D, emissions and registration details of the proposed RS, Cayman or Boxster before the personal and business costs can be compared.
For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.
The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| High-CO2 petrol or qualifying diesel at the maximum band | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Porsche 718. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). An identified petrol 718 needs registration-specific road-tax checking, particularly when considering a car after production has ended. First-year VED depends on its CO2; the 2026/27 standard annual payment thereafter is £200 under the applicable post-April 2017 rules, excluding the supplement. Establish what the funder includes and who pays subsequent tax increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. Use the original published list price, including relevant options, rather than a negotiated figure. Above £40,000, the petrol car can incur the Expensive Car Supplement, £440 annually in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. Registration timing determines where it sits in that period. Review the official table; later-year cash amounts are not assumed.
Planned eVED. The petrol 718 is outside planned eVED’s EV and PHEV categories. An electric successor would require a fresh assessment if and when a UK vehicle is confirmed. The proposal starts in April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation, with 3p per mile for EVs and 1.5p for PHEVs alongside VED and CPI uprating from 2029/30. Read the dated government response.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Porsche range, Cayman leasing, Boxster leasing, Porsche 911, Porsche Taycan to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Porsche reports that petrol 718 production ended in October 2025. This guide therefore does not offer a new factory-build promise. Any potential new-car lease needs an individually identified vehicle, confirmed supply and appropriate funder terms.
It helps you choose between the family’s body and variant branches, including Cayman, Boxster and Spyder intent. IVF has separate Cayman and Boxster pages for those detailed decisions. The family page should not imply a broad current inventory from a single RS row.
No. It is labelled 4.0 RS 2dr PDK and classified as Convertible, without the word Spyder in the captured description. Ask IVF to confirm the full identity and actual supply. A catalogue label is not an allocation or stock confirmation.
Decide whether a fixed roof or open-air use is central to your brief. Then try entry, seating, luggage and roof arrangements in the relevant car. Follow the separate body-specific route once that decision is made, rather than comparing unrelated trim names first.
They can represent materially different sports-car specifications and purposes. Confirm the exact body, model year, engine, gearbox and chassis. Historic family names do not show that every version is currently offered through IVF or can be newly built.
No electric 718 supply is established here. Porsche has described a future electric sports car in this segment, but this guide confirms no UK order date, specification or delivery timetable. The captured IVF entry is a petrol convertible RS description.
The identified car, registration status, agreement type, term, mileage, initial rental and maintenance basis all matter. Confirm the full specification before comparing proposals. A family-level monthly estimate would conceal too many differences to support this decision.
Do not assume so. Manufacturer performance claims, track photographs and an RS or GT badge do not override the funder’s contract or insurance. Obtain explicit written permission for any intended circuit use before proceeding.
For the petrol car, use the actual P11D and emissions certification across every tax year. Include VED, the Expensive Car Supplement and contractual treatment of changes. Do not apply electric-car tax to a petrol 718 because a future successor is planned.
Cayman and Boxster are the immediate family routes. A 911 is a different sports-car comparison, while a Taycan serves an electric Porsche brief. Explain which requirements can change so an alternative does not silently replace the body or driving experience you wanted.
