Your Subaru Solterra leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps business and private drivers compare Subaru Solterra electric SUV leasing. The current IVF grid lists 71.4 kWh Limited and Touring cars, while Subaru separately promotes an updated model for 2026. Keep those generations distinct, confirm the offered vehicle and assess all-wheel drive, charging access and passenger needs before committing.

Subaru Solterra leasing: identify the generation before comparing

Solterra is the Subaru choice for a driver who wants an electric SUV and an all-wheel-drive brief. That could suit a business user travelling between towns and rural destinations or a private household seeking electric daily transport. The immediate decision is not simply Limited versus Touring: establish whether the proposal concerns the 71.4 kWh car in IVF’s grid or the updated model Subaru promotes separately.

Subaru Solterra leasing: key facts

  • The IVF capture lists 150 kW Limited and Touring 71.4 kWh automatic AWD derivatives, checked on 28 September 2026.
  • Subaru’s current UK Solterra specification page lists the 71.4 kWh battery and Limited/Touring grades; the newer model is presented separately as coming in 2026.
  • Subaru’s future-model page quotes a 73.1 kWh battery for the updated Solterra; it is not the battery in the captured IVF descriptions.
  • Subaru publishes three-year or 60,000-mile vehicle cover and eight-year or 100,000-mile EV-battery cover for Solterra, whichever relevant limit comes first, subject to terms.
  • GOV.UK: zero-emission company-car BiK is 4% in 2026/27, rising to 9% in 2029/30.

What the current Limited and Touring entries show

The two captured IVF descriptions are 150 kW Limited and Touring, both labelled 71.4 kWh, automatic and AWD. Subaru’s current UK model page also presents Limited and Touring with that battery capacity. This gives a coherent generation to investigate, but the precise model year, equipment and registration position still need to appear in the written proposal.

The updated Solterra is not a specification upgrade for every row

Subaru’s UK future-model page presents an updated Solterra as coming in 2026 and identifies a 73.1 kWh battery alongside other changes. Its range is described as a manufacturer estimate. The page also asks customers to register interest. Those facts should not be turned into a claim that the 71.4 kWh IVF entries already have the new battery or that a particular UK handover date is confirmed.

Build the charging routine around the actual car

Start with where Solterra will spend the night and how much energy a typical day will require. A dependable home or workplace charging arrangement is more useful than a theoretical charger near the route. Confirm access, connection and parking permissions before making charging central to the lease decision. If relying mainly on public charging, test the routine at the times you would actually use it.

For longer trips, plan charging stops with reserve distance and a fallback location. The current car’s charging specification and the updated model’s claims must remain separate. Battery temperature, starting charge, charger capability and repeated use can affect the experience. This page deliberately avoids a universal charging-time promise. Request the technical conditions for the actual car, then decide whether those conditions fit your ordinary travel pattern.

All-wheel drive is one part of year-round suitability

Subaru’s AWD identity is relevant to a driver who regularly encounters wet, uneven or rural access routes. It does not remove the need for appropriate tyres, sensible speed or compliance with the vehicle’s operating limits. Explain the actual conditions rather than asking whether the car is simply good off-road. A steep home driveway and a demanding worksite may need very different assessments.

Limited versus Touring should begin in the cabin

Try both grades if wheel choice, seat functions or cabin finish could change your experience. Adjust the driver’s seat, check the instrument view and test the controls used most often. Bring regular passengers and assess rear access, headroom and luggage space at the same time. An electric platform does not automatically establish comfortable accommodation for every group.

Warranty, servicing and business costs need a joined view

Subaru’s current Solterra page states three years or 60,000 miles of vehicle warranty and eight years or 100,000 miles of EV-battery warranty, whichever relevant limit comes first. It also gives service intervals of 12 months or 9,000 miles. These are manufacturer terms for the page’s current car; confirm the exact schedule and start date for any proposal, especially when comparing an updated generation.

A driver covering substantial business mileage may reach an interval or warranty mileage limit well before the time limit. Include servicing access, tyres, insurance and charging in the assessment. Company-car tax follows the zero-emission path for a battery-electric Solterra, but P11D and future annual percentages still matter. Ask the funder how VED, any supplement and planned eVED would be handled during the agreement.

Outback and Forester clarify what you want from Subaru

Outback is a relevant comparison if the requirement is Subaru all-wheel drive with petrol travel and a long luggage area, particularly where charging cannot be made dependable. Its engine, dimensions, towing documents and company-car tax are different. Do not treat its suitability as proof that Solterra will perform every task in the same way.

Forester provides another Subaru SUV passenger and access comparison with its own current powertrain. Try it if you want to decide whether electricity is essential or whether the underlying priority is the cabin and rural-use brief. For the Solterra enquiry, send IVF the intended generation, grade, charging arrangement and any capability requirement. That lets the team investigate an identified car and appropriate terms without confusing current catalogue evidence with a future-model announcement.

Subaru Solterra company-car tax across the lease

A battery-electric Solterra uses the zero-emission company-car path. The quoted car’s P11D and registration details remain essential. A forthcoming model announcement does not establish the benefit value or availability of a particular vehicle.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Subaru Solterra leasing questions

Which Solterra generation does IVF currently list?

The captured grid contains 150 kW Limited and Touring AWD cars labelled 71.4 kWh. Subaru’s UK model page describes that battery and those grades. Confirm the precise model year and equipment before relying on the catalogue description for an actual proposal.

Is the updated 2026 Solterra already represented by those rows?

The capture does not establish that. Subaru promotes the updated 73.1 kWh model separately as coming in 2026, with a register-interest route. Do not transfer its battery, range, charging or towing claims to the 71.4 kWh Limited and Touring entries.

Can I ask IVF about the updated Solterra?

Yes, but identify that as a separate enquiry. Ask when a UK specification and funder proposal can be confirmed. A manufacturer announcement does not establish an available vehicle or delivery date, and the current grid should not be presented as proof of the updated car.

Do both listed Solterra grades have all-wheel drive?

The captured Limited and Touring descriptions both state AWD, consistent with the current UK model page. Confirm the actual vehicle and its operating limits. All-wheel drive does not remove the need for suitable tyres, loading and judgement in difficult conditions.

Can I use the updated model’s towing figure?

Not for an older car without verification. Subaru’s future-model page describes changed capability. Use the actual offered generation’s documents and confirm the full trailer combination, insurance and funder permission. A future headline cannot establish the limit of a current catalogue derivative.

What should I check about Solterra charging?

Establish reliable overnight or workplace access and plan a representative longer journey with a fallback stop. Use technical data for the exact generation. Charger capability, battery temperature and starting charge influence the session, so a single headline time is not a universal promise.

How do I choose Limited or Touring?

Compare the actual wheel, seat, camera and cabin equipment against your daily needs. Try the seating position and rear access with regular passengers. Confirm model year and options, because a photograph or a higher grade name does not establish every feature of the proposed car.

What warranty and service intervals does Subaru publish?

For the current Solterra page, Subaru states three years or 60,000 miles for the vehicle, eight years or 100,000 miles for the battery, and servicing every 12 months or 9,000 miles. Confirm the applicable terms and start date for the identified car.

Is Solterra suitable for a company-car enquiry?

It can be assessed as a battery-electric company car when charging and practical needs fit. The zero-emission percentage is applied to the actual P11D, with changes across tax years. Include road-tax provisions, insurance, servicing and charging costs when comparing the whole agreement.

When should I compare Outback or Forester instead?

Compare them when the main requirement is Subaru passenger access or rural travel and dependable charging is uncertain. They have different powertrains, dimensions and tax positions. Use the same occupants and loads to test the practical brief, rather than assuming all Subaru models are interchangeable.
