Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Audi Q8 business and personal leasing across the combustion and plug-in hybrid range. Q8 e-tron is a different electric model, now described by Audi UK as an earlier range. For a current electric enquiry, compare Q6 e-tron or e-tron GT rather than assuming a Q8 badge means electric.
If you searched for a Q8 electric lease, the first useful answer is that Q8 and Q8 e-tron are different vehicle families. The Q8 catalogue on this page contains combustion and plug-in hybrid descriptions. Its TFSI e and e-Hybrid labels do not mean battery-electric propulsion. A customer wanting to stop using petrol or diesel needs a different shortlist, even if the exterior style of an older Q8 e-tron was the original attraction.
On 23 September 2026, Audi UK’s electric-range guidance identifies the Q8 SUV e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron as earlier models rather than members of its current new electric line-up. Its former Q8 e-tron route redirects to the wider electric range. We do not turn that into a claim about remaining supply. For a current electric SUV enquiry, follow the Audi Q6 e-tron; for an electric grand-touring alternative, consider the Audi e-tron GT.
| Model | Reason to shortlist | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|
| Audi Q8 | Combustion or plug-in SUV with a body-style-led brief | It is not the electric Q8 e-tron |
| Audi Q7 | Alternative where third-row flexibility matters | Check seating by powertrain and generation |
| Audi Q6 e-tron | Current electric SUV direction for Q8 electric searches | Charging routine and electric tax treatment need their own comparison |
These are practical comparisons of model roles, not equivalent specifications or a ranking. Confirm the exact UK derivative before comparing costs or equipment.
The Q8 suits a driver who wants an Audi SUV with a strong emphasis on its shape and everyday passenger cabin, without making a third-row requirement the centre of the decision. It can serve as a director’s car, a professional’s long-distance vehicle or a private family car where its layout matches the load. Its appeal should survive a practical test with the people and luggage that normally travel together.
It is less suitable when you genuinely need the Q7’s extra-row flexibility, or when your main objective is a fully electric company car. Those are different requirements, not matters an equipment package can solve. Start with that distinction and the remaining Q8 decision becomes more useful: engine, charging where relevant, equipment, dimensions and the contract that fits your expected mileage.
IVF’s Q8 table contains 3.0 TDI quattro 286 and 3.0 TFSI quattro 340 descriptions across S line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. Technology package variants appear alongside them. Plug-in hybrid rows use both TFSI e and e-Hybrid wording with 394 in the description. SQ8 TFSI quattro 507 entries use Black Edition or Vorsprung, including a Tech Pro variation. Match the complete wording when you ask for a quotation.
These labels describe the captured catalogue, not confirmed orderability. The presence of two hybrid naming styles is a reason to clarify model year, equipment and homologation before comparing them. A TFSI petrol and a TFSI e plug-in hybrid can look similar in an abbreviated search result while creating different charging and tax decisions. Ask for the powertrain in plain English as well as the badge.
Audi UK lists RS Q8 and RS Q8 performance within its Q8 family, but neither appeared in the captured IVF Q8 derivative table. Treat an RS Q8 request as a separate supply enquiry, not an extension of an SQ8 quotation. SQ8, RS Q8 and ordinary Q8 petrol performance figures are not interchangeable. We have used a named ordinary petrol benchmark only, avoiding a headline assembled from different versions.
Get the exact battery, certified electric range and emissions documents for the proposed hybrid. We have not applied one range figure across TFSI e and e-Hybrid catalogue rows. Updated testing and different specifications can change the tax calculation, while the real journey still depends on weather, speed and load. The appropriate percentage should come from the supplied vehicle’s data, not from the most attractive number associated with the model name.
The Q8’s size and body style make a parking trial worthwhile. Measure the entrance to the space, then assess how the doors and tailgate work once the car is inside it. Check the exact camera and parking-assistance equipment rather than relying on a photograph. A package that is optional on one trim may be included on another, but that needs to be established for the quoted model year.
For an SQ8 enquiry, think beyond the attraction of the engine. Ask about the supplied wheel and tyre specification, replacement responsibilities and insurance before choosing the agreement. If performance-oriented seats or suspension settings matter, try a representative car on the roads you use. No road-test impression is claimed here; your own comfort and access requirements are the relevant test.
A Q7 comparison is useful when you are unsure whether style or additional passenger flexibility matters more. A Q6 e-tron comparison is useful when propulsion is the real question. Avoid ranking these choices solely by the first monthly illustration: one may solve a passenger problem, another a charging and company-car problem. Settle that requirement, then align the contract assumptions.
Q8 company-car tax follows the actual engine and certified vehicle data. Do not apply the battery-electric band to a TFSI e, e-Hybrid, SQ8 or RS Q8 simply because an electric Q8 once shared the name.
A director or employee normally calculates the taxable benefit from P11D and the appropriate percentage, then applies their income-tax rate. Compare that liability separately from the business’s contract payments and deductions.
The hybrid rows below are conditional examples, not assigned Q8 rates. Ask for the certified range and CO2 of the actual TFSI e or e-Hybrid. Higher-emission Q8 derivatives can reach the annual maximum, which rises later in the lease.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Qualifying Q8 PHEV only: 1-50 g/km and 30-39 miles | 14% | 15% | 18% | 19% |
| Qualifying Q8 PHEV only: 1-50 g/km and 40-69 miles | 10% | 11% | 18% | 19% |
| Q8 derivative only where at the annual maximum | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Audi Q8. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
The electric-mile figures above are HMRC band thresholds, not promises of this car’s driving range. Newer plug-in hybrid certification can show more than 50 g/km. A temporary company-car easement may treat an eligible car as 1 g/km where the registration date, electric range and Euro-status conditions are met; it is not automatic and must not be transferred to lease-rental deductions. Check the vehicle documents and HMRC’s plug-in hybrid conditions with your accountant.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 23 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

No. The captured Q8 table contains diesel, petrol and plug-in hybrid descriptions. TFSI e and e-Hybrid retain an engine. The separately named Q8 e-tron was a battery-electric model.
Checked 23 September 2026, Audi UK describes Q8 SUV e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron as earlier electric models. Its current range directs new electric enquiries towards other models. No remaining-supply claim is made here.
The Q6 e-tron is a relevant electric SUV comparison. The e-tron GT offers a different grand-touring body and passenger brief. Choose by the job the car must do and verify the exact derivative.
IVF can discuss a Q8 Business Contract Hire brief through its panel of funders, subject to status and individual criteria. Confirm the engine, specification and supply before comparing contractual costs and company-car tax.
Yes. The captured table contains SQ8 TFSI quattro 507 Black Edition and Vorsprung descriptions. They require their own specification and running-cost comparison rather than using ordinary Q8 performance data.
No RS Q8 row appeared in that capture, although Audi UK lists RS Q8 and RS Q8 performance in its model family. Ask separately about supply; do not assume an SQ8 proposal covers them.
It is Audi UK’s 0-62 mph benchmark for the Q8 SUV TFSI quattro 340 PS tiptronic. It is not a figure for every Q8, a diesel, SQ8, RS Q8 or Q8 e-tron.
Both are plug-in hybrid naming used in the catalogue, but the exact generation and specification still need checking. Do not transfer battery, range or emissions figures between entries without the vehicle documents.
Consider Q7 if a third row is a real requirement, then check its seating by powertrain. Test the intended people and luggage together. The Q8 body style cannot resolve a missing-seat requirement.
The vehicle, options, contract length, annual mileage, initial rental, maintenance and funder terms influence the proposal. Ask IVF to compare the same specification and contract basis so changes in the figure are understandable.
