Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps with Audi RS 5 business and personal contract hire. The September 2026 table lists petrol plug-in hybrid Saloon and Estate derivatives, consistent with Audi UK’s current RS 5 generation. For an Avant enquiry, confirm the exact estate specification, equipment, charging needs and company-car tax documents.
A search for an RS 5 Avant is now a different enquiry from an older RS 5 Coupe or Sportback. Audi UK currently publishes the new Avant alongside the current RS 5 family, and IVF’s September table shows TFSI e plug-in hybrid entries in Saloon and Estate forms. That is evidence of the current generation being represented in the catalogue. It is not proof that every listed derivative can be supplied immediately.
For an Avant enquiry, ask IVF to identify the Estate entry against the manufacturer’s Avant designation, including production specification and fitted equipment. Keep this written identification with the quote. It prevents a familiar model name from carrying assumptions about a different generation’s body, engine or boot layout. If you are comparing a previous brochure with a current offer, set it aside until the vehicle identity has been reconciled.
Our view is that the RS 5 suits a buyer who actively wants a performance car while retaining an everyday passenger and luggage role. It is less compelling when the real requirement is simply a premium executive car. In that case an A5 comparison can make the decision clearer. The RS choice should survive a practical assessment of charging, insurance, tyres and the full contract commitment.
| Model | Reason to consider it | Important separation |
|---|---|---|
| Audi RS 5 | A performance-focused plug-in hybrid, with Saloon and Avant choices. | The exact body, charging routine and certified tax figures need resolving together. |
| Audi A5 | An executive-car alternative when the RS performance brief is not essential. | A5 equipment and powertrains must be quoted separately; an RS badge is not an option pack. |
| BMW M3 | Another performance-car route for a Saloon or Touring comparison. | Compare actual passenger space, operating requirements and tax documentation rather than badges alone. |
This table compares customer tasks, not lap times, road-test results or equal equipment. Each quotation needs its own body and powertrain record.
The table captured on 24 September contains standard RS 5 TFSI e quattro descriptions plus Carbon Black, Launch Edition and Performance Vorsprung entries. Some carry Tech Pack wording. Establish whether a listed pack is included in the quoted car and which features are relevant to your use rather than simply ordering the longest description.
Audi’s current RS 5 combines combustion and electric propulsion. The specification therefore needs to cover both the performance system and the charging side. A power figure gives only part of the picture: the actual equipment, tyres, seating and assistance systems are what you will encounter every day. Do not substitute a published maximum for confirmation of the vehicle offered through the funder.
If sharing the car, have both drivers test the seating and controls. Confirm assistance settings, connected-service conditions and fitted equipment on the quoted vehicle. The ordinary commute matters alongside the appeal of the RS identity.
An estate-style opening can be useful for luggage and leisure equipment, but the fit still has to be checked. Take the largest items you regularly carry and assess them with the necessary rear seats in use. For child seats, check the installation and access rather than inferring comfort from the exterior size. A performance estate can serve family journeys, but only the real combination of people and possessions establishes suitability.
Try parking and low-speed access in conditions resembling home and work. Wide wheels, turning space and the room needed to open doors all affect how convenient the car feels. If a particular garage or entrance is tight, use the precise derivative’s dimensions and a practical demonstration. Do not transfer measurements from the standard A5 or a previous RS 5 merely because the names are related.
Keep consumables in the comparison. Ask for an insurance quotation on the exact car and clarify tyre cover if considering maintenance. A maintenance agreement may distinguish between routine servicing, wear-related replacement and damage. The funder’s written scope matters more than the broad word “maintained”. If towing or roof equipment is required, obtain vehicle-specific approval and limits before making it part of the plan.
For the RS 5, charging is a part of the ownership routine to plan in advance. Identify when the car will be stationary near a suitable supply and whether that time is dependable. A regular connection can support local electric journeys, while longer drives still use petrol. Your weekly pattern is more informative than selecting the car solely on a quoted electric-distance maximum.
The current Avant’s published electric-range benchmark must be checked against the car’s actual model year, wheels and equipment. Manufacturer testing does not reproduce every temperature, speed or load. Allow for the journeys where heating, motorway driving or limited charging changes the result. If your schedule leaves no convenient charging opportunity, compare the whole running-cost proposition without assuming frequent electric operation.
For an RS 5 lease-price or business-lease enquiry, ask IVF to align the body, equipment, term, mileage and initial rental. Specify maintenance separately and read the fees and tax-change provisions. For a company car, confirm the certified electric range, CO2 and registration details before estimating BiK. The lower band sometimes associated with plug-in hybrids is conditional and does not remain unchanged across every year of a longer agreement.
The current RS 5 is a plug-in hybrid, but that does not justify assigning one BiK rate to all Saloon and Avant entries. The relevant car’s certification determines the starting position.
Request the P11D value and registration documentation alongside the quote. An Avant manufacturer range headline does not prove the HMRC electric-range band for a differently equipped car, and an emissions easement requires its own eligibility checks.
Private availability to an employee or director normally creates a taxable benefit calculated from P11D and the applicable percentage. Personal tax depends on income-tax position and adjustments. A private agreement or a sole trader’s own use follows a different analysis.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conditional PHEV reference: 1-50 g/km, certified 40-69 mile band | 10% | 11% | 18% | 19% |
| Maximum company-car band if the supplied car falls there | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Audi RS 5. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
The electric-mile figures above are HMRC band thresholds, not promises of this car’s driving range. Newer plug-in hybrid certification can show more than 50 g/km. A temporary company-car easement may treat an eligible car as 1 g/km where the registration date, electric range and Euro-status conditions are met; it is not automatic and must not be transferred to lease-rental deductions. Check the vehicle documents and HMRC’s plug-in hybrid conditions with your accountant.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). Use the current RS 5’s certification to establish first-year VED rather than an earlier generation’s emissions. For 2026/27, the standard annual payment after the first year is £200 before supplements. Later cash rates are unconfirmed; obtain the funder’s tax-change provisions.
Expensive Car Supplement. The RS 5 PHEV uses the above-£40,000 list-price threshold, including relevant options before discounts. The supplement is £440 annually in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. Being plug-in hybrid does not confer the £50,000 threshold reserved for qualifying zero-emission cars. Check GOV.UK’s VED rules.
Planned eVED. The proposed April 2028 eVED charge would start at 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids and 3p for electric cars, additional to VED. It is not currently payable and is subject to legislation and implementation. CPI uprating is proposed from 2029/30, with later rates unconfirmed. Check the RS 5 agreement’s treatment before selecting a term crossing introduction. Read the eVED consultation response.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Audi leasing, Audi A5, BMW M3, BiK tax guide, contact IVF to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
The 24 September 2026 table contains TFSI e quattro Saloon and Estate derivatives labelled Petrol Parallel PHEV. That is consistent with Audi UK’s current RS 5 generation. Confirm the exact production specification and supply position before proceeding.
Yes. Ask IVF to match the catalogue’s Estate entry to the current Avant specification and include the full derivative in the quotation. A body label alone does not confirm the fitted equipment, availability or timing.
Audi UK’s current RS 5 Avant uses combustion and electric propulsion, and the IVF table identifies the current entries as petrol plug-in hybrids. This information should not be applied to earlier RS 5 Coupe or Sportback generations.
Audi UK gives up to 639 PS for the current RS 5 Avant reference. Treat that as a scoped manufacturer figure and confirm the quoted car’s specification; it does not describe every historical vehicle carrying the RS 5 name.
Audi publishes up to 51 miles for the current RS 5 Avant. Verify the exact derivative, wheels and equipment before using that benchmark; real distance varies with conditions. A marketing range is not a confirmed tax certificate.
They are distinct catalogue descriptions and require separate equipment checks. Ask which seats, assistance systems, wheels and other features are included in each offered car before comparing the agreement costs.
Yes, if the central requirement is an executive car rather than RS performance. Compare the body and powertrain that meet your normal use. The A5 has its own route and should not inherit the RS 5’s specifications.
Provide the exact Saloon or Avant brief, annual mileage, term and required equipment. IVF can discuss business contract hire subject to status and funder criteria. Have the separate driver-tax calculation checked across the proposed agreement.
Your charging routine and driving pattern determine how much electric use is practical. Weighted test figures are not a prediction for an uncharged long journey. Compare likely electricity and petrol use for your actual week.
Confirm vehicle identity, fitted options, registration status, insurance, maintenance scope, initial rental, term, mileage and fees. Read tax-change and early-termination provisions and the return-condition requirements before treating the quotation as a complete commitment.
Bring your passenger, journey and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
