Your Changan Deepal S05 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance arranges Changan Deepal S05 business and personal leasing. The captured grid lists electric RWD Max and AWD Max; Changan also now accepts UK Ultra PHEV orders, absent from this snapshot. Compare the offered drivetrain, charging routine and support terms before choosing a vehicle and agreement.

Judge the S05 through the car and its support

Changan’s electric S05 is available in the UK. Its newer Ultra PHEV page, checked 28 September 2026, also says plug-in hybrid orders are open, with demonstrators expected in October. The general FAQ still says hybrids follow later this year. Use the dedicated product page for that newer status, but do not infer IVF supply: this grid snapshot contains only the two electric versions.

We would assess it for a business or private driver willing to compare the actual cabin and controls carefully. Arrange a demonstration of routine tasks: adjusting the seats, setting navigation, changing ventilation and using parking views. Decide whether the interface feels comfortable before choosing it on equipment alone. What matters is how easily you can operate the car while maintaining attention to driving.

Identify the authorised service location you would use and understand the support process. This is a practical planning step, not speculation about the manufacturer’s future or the car’s residual value. Ask who handles software questions, planned servicing and a warranty claim. If that process would be inconvenient for your working pattern, include it in the comparison with another electric SUV.

Changan Deepal S05 leasing: key facts

  • Changan UK says Deepal S05 can now be ordered; checked 28 September 2026. Individual IVF supply remains unconfirmed.
  • The UK technical table lists five seats and dimensions of 4,598 x 1,900 x 1,600 mm; check mirrors and parking clearance separately.
  • RWD Max and AWD Max share a 68.8 kWh LFP battery; IVF rounds its label to 69kWh.
  • The UK table gives 303 miles WLTP for RWD Max and 278 miles for AWD Max, on the listed 20-inch specification. Weather, load, speed and battery condition affect actual range.
  • Changan publishes seven years or 100,000 miles basic cover and separate battery terms; commercial-use eligibility must be checked.
  • GOV.UK: zero-emission company-car BiK is 4% in 2026/27, rising to 9% in 2029/30.

Deepal S05 business lease: RWD Max or AWD Max?

Changan’s UK specification table, marked correct at 1 March 2026 and checked on 28 September, lists RWD Max and AWD Max. Both have a 68.8kWh LFP battery. RWD uses a 200kW motor, while AWD adds a 120kW front motor to the 200kW rear unit. These are different drivetrain configurations, not two names for the same performance specification.

The IVF grid contains 200kW Max 69kWh and 320kW Max 69kWh AWD descriptions. Both are electric; their rounded battery labels do not state usable capacity. Have the retailer match the UK specification, wheels and roof. The newly orderable Ultra PHEV is a separate propulsion choice absent from this snapshot; ask about it separately, without transferring electric-car range or tax figures.

Choose between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive with a specific reason. The rear-drive car has a different published range benchmark; the all-wheel-drive car changes traction and performance. Ask whether those differences solve a real journey requirement. Insurance, tyres, charging and the driver’s preferences belong in the discussion alongside acceleration, without assuming the more powerful car is automatically the more suitable one.

Try the boot, front storage and rear seats

The UK technical table identifies five seats, a rear luggage compartment and a separate front compartment. Test the spaces independently. A front storage area can be useful for cables, but its shape and access matter more than treating front and rear litres as one continuous load area. Check what can be carried there and how the handbook requires it to be secured.

Sit behind the driving position you will actually use and check entry with the doors partly open. For a family, demonstrate the child-seat installation and luggage arrangement together. For a business driver, bring the cases or equipment used on a normal visit. Confirm that the load can be restrained and does not obstruct visibility or passenger access.

Turn the range and charging data into a routine

Changan’s UK table quotes 303 miles WLTP for RWD Max and 278 miles for AWD Max on its listed 20-inch configuration. Use those as derivative-specific test benchmarks only. They are not a forecast for cold motorway travel or a car carrying additional equipment. Driving style, temperature, load, battery condition and accessories can alter the actual distance.

The same table lists 11kW AC charging capability. Your property or workplace may supply less, so have the installation assessed before calculating an overnight schedule. On longer journeys, the car and charger both influence a DC session, as do battery temperature and charge level. A headline peak is not the power maintained from arrival to departure.

For your test drive, ask how charging schedules and battery preparation are operated. Check cable provision and the process for using the public networks you expect to visit. Identify a backup location for an unavailable charger. If the car is shared, agree who reconnects it and how journeys are recorded for any business reimbursement arrangement rather than leaving those details until handover.

Understand the warranty before comparing headline terms

Changan’s UK warranty page states seven years or 100,000 miles of basic coverage and eight years or 124,000 miles for the high-voltage battery and drive unit, whichever limit comes first. The battery terms include a 70% capacity threshold. However, the page expressly limits its stated policy to non-commercial use and refers commercial vehicles to the warranty booklet. Business enquiries need that use classification resolved in writing.

Do not assume that the name of the finance agreement alone decides warranty eligibility. Explain the intended activity and mileage to the supplying retailer and obtain the applicable terms. A company employee’s private use, a shared business car and a vehicle used in a specialist commercial activity may require different clarification. If the retailer cannot identify the correct policy, leave that part of the comparison open rather than treating the headline cover as settled.

Warranty repairs, routine servicing, software support, motor insurance and roadside assistance are separate subjects. Ask where each is handled and what the proposed maintenance package includes. Check whether the expected annual mileage reaches a limit before the lease ends. Written terms are especially helpful when several attractive cover durations appear together in sales material.

When requesting a proposal, tell IVF why you prefer S05 to the larger S07 or a Kia EV3 alternative. Give your annual mileage, charging situation, essential equipment and RWD or AWD preference. Include the intended use so warranty questions can be addressed alongside funder criteria. The result should be an identifiable car and understandable contract, with the remaining support questions answered before commitment.

Changan Deepal S05 company-car tax across the lease

This table covers the two zero-emission S05 entries in IVF’s captured grid, not the newly orderable Ultra PHEV. A PHEV enquiry needs certified CO2, electric range and any HMRC easement checked separately. RWD and AWD taxable benefits also depend on their actual P11D. Warranty-use eligibility is a separate question.

For private availability to an employee or director, P11D multiplied by the annual BiK percentage gives the starting taxable benefit; personal tax then depends on income tax rate and adjustments. Sole traders follow different rules.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). In 2026/27, annual VED after year one is £200 before any supplement. First-year tax follows certified CO2; zero-emission cars pay £10. These are current cash rates, not confirmed future-year amounts. Ask how the funder handles later increases.

Expensive Car Supplement. The 2026/27 supplement is £440 annually for five years from the second licence. It applies above a pre-discount list price of £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrids, or £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Include relevant options and check registration. Check GOV.UK vehicle-tax rules.

Planned eVED. Government plans eVED alongside VED from April 2028: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids. It is not currently in force and remains subject to legislation and implementation. CPI uprating is planned from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Ask the funder how introduction and increases would affect your agreement. Read the consultation response.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Changan Deepal S05 leasing questions

Is the Changan Deepal S05 on sale in the UK?

Changan’s UK FAQ checked on 28 September 2026 says the S05 can now be ordered. That does not establish a particular IVF vehicle or delivery date. Request confirmation of the actual specification, supply position and funder terms.

Which Deepal S05 versions does IVF list?

The captured page lists 200kW Max 69kWh and 320kW Max 69kWh AWD. Changan’s UK names are RWD Max and AWD Max, with a 68.8kWh battery in its technical table. Confirm the exact UK vehicle and options behind the catalogue wording.

Is the UK Deepal S05 available as a plug-in hybrid?

Yes. Changan’s dedicated Ultra PHEV UK page checked on 28 September 2026 says orders are open, with demonstrators expected in October. IVF’s captured grid lists only electric versions. Ask separately about PHEV supply; electric specifications and BiK percentages do not apply to it.

Can the Deepal S05 be leased by a business?

IVF can discuss business contract hire subject to status, supply and funder criteria. Explain the intended use as well as mileage and charging access. Changan’s published warranty page has a commercial-use qualification that must be resolved against the applicable terms.

What is the Deepal S05 electric range?

The checked UK table gives 303 miles WLTP for RWD Max and 278 miles for AWD Max on its listed 20-inch specification. Confirm the offered car matches it. Temperature, driving, speed, load, accessories and battery condition affect real-world range.

Does AWD Max have a larger battery?

Changan’s UK table lists the same 68.8kWh LFP battery for RWD Max and AWD Max. The drivetrain and published range benchmarks differ. The larger power figure in the AWD catalogue description should not be read as a larger battery.

How many seats does the S05 have?

The UK technical specification lists five seats. Test the rear space behind your normal driving position and check luggage with the necessary seats occupied. Front and rear storage are separate compartments, so their volumes do not create one continuous loading space.

What warranty does Changan publish for S05?

The UK page states seven years or 100,000 miles basic cover, with separate battery and drive-unit terms of eight years or 124,000 miles. Conditions apply, including a commercial-use qualification. Obtain the correct policy for your vehicle and activity before relying on it.

Should I compare Deepal S05 with S07?

Yes, if you are deciding how much cabin and load space you need within Changan’s range. Assess the physical vehicles and their separate specifications. A Kia EV3 comparison can also help test controls, charging arrangements and local support against your requirements.

What should I ask before accepting an S05 quotation?

Confirm RWD or AWD, model year, wheels, options, warranty eligibility and the service location. Match the contract to annual mileage and charging arrangements. Ask IVF for written vehicle and funder details so remaining questions are resolved before you commit.
