Your Citroën C3 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps businesses and private drivers compare Citroën C3 leasing across petrol, Hybrid 110 and electric ë-C3. Citroën UK lists both electric battery choices alongside the combustion-powered cars. Choose the powertrain for your parking and journey pattern, then check grade, equipment and the tax position of the exact vehicle.

C3 business and personal leasing starts with three different routines

The C3 is a compact-car decision for someone who wants straightforward daily transport with a focus on comfort. A small business might be choosing a car for one employee, a director might need a manageable second household car, or a private driver might be reassessing regular journeys after a move. In each case, decide how the car will be used before comparing trim details.

Petrol, hybrid and electric versions are all present on Citroën’s current UK site. The Turbo 100 is a petrol car with a manual gearbox. Hybrid 110 combines petrol and electric assistance with an automatic gearbox and does not plug in. The ë-C3 is fully electric and relies on external charging. These are alternatives within one model family, not interchangeable descriptions of the same powertrain.

If the car must cover unpredictable long trips and cannot charge where it parks, the electric version needs particular scrutiny. Conversely, a regular local route and a dependable charger make the ë-C3 worth a practical trial. Avoid selecting the car solely around an annual mileage total: two people with the same total can have completely different daily charging needs.

Citroën C3 leasing: key facts

  • Citroën UK currently lists C3 Turbo 100 petrol, Hybrid 110 automatic and fully electric ë-C3.
  • The ë-C3 has an 83 kW motor and UK battery options labelled 30 kWh and 44 kWh.
  • The current UK website quotes up to 130 miles WLTP for 30 kWh and 202 miles for 44 kWh. These are matching-derivative benchmarks; confirm model year, grade and wheels, with real range affected by conditions.
  • Citroën describes five seats and a 310-litre boot under the parcel shelf for C3/ë-C3; test your actual load.
  • Citroën states three years of manufacturer warranty; ë-C3 battery cover is eight years/100,000 miles. Separate We Care cover is service-activated and conditional, not an unconditional eight-year whole-car warranty.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

What IVF’s C3 rows say, and what the quote must confirm

The captured IVF route contains petrol Turbo, Hybrid 110 and electric entries. Grades include Plus, Collection and Max; the smaller electric battery is labelled Urban Range Plus. Some entries carry NI, so confirm the appropriate supply territory. The catalogue contains more combinations than the headline trim selector on the current manufacturer page, making model-year and equipment confirmation important.

The electric rows identify an 83 kW motor with either 30 kWh or 44 kWh. The smaller battery is not simply a different name for the larger one. Citroën’s current website quotes up to 130 miles WLTP and up to 202 miles WLTP respectively, subject to the matching derivative. Earlier documents can contain different rounded figures, so use the technical document belonging to the quoted car.

List the features you need in plain terms: automatic transmission, parking camera, heated mirrors, phone connection or a particular seat arrangement. Then have IVF identify the correct version. A Collection badge in a photograph or an older Plus specification does not establish what is fitted to a newly quoted vehicle. The grid displays rental figures; compare its offers on consistent contract terms.

Choose an ë-C3 battery using your difficult day

Start with the day that is least forgiving, rather than the average commute. Include the trip to work, an unexpected detour, heating in cold weather and any evening travel before the next reliable charging opportunity. A smaller battery can suit a predictable local routine, but only if the available charging pattern supports it and leaves a reserve you find comfortable.

The larger battery deserves attention when trips are longer or charging opportunities less frequent. It still cannot be judged from a WLTP number alone. Speed, weather, load and equipment change consumption, and the distance shown after charging is an estimate. Match any range claim to the supplied battery and specification; do not apply the larger-battery benchmark to an Urban Range listing.

Confirm included charging equipment and the car’s AC and DC capability. Check workplace access and home installation arrangements. For a shared business vehicle, agree who connects it and how the next driver checks its charge level.

Comfort, access and warranty: check the C3 you will receive

Try the seats and suspension on familiar types of road. Set your driving position before assessing the instrument display, visibility, climate controls and phone navigation. Comfort and ease of operation need a personal test.

Load ordinary luggage with the seats in their normal positions. The boot’s shape and opening can matter more than its volume for a pushchair or work bag. Check rear-passenger room before selecting cosmetic equipment.

Citroën distinguishes its standard three-year warranty from ë-C3 battery protection and the We Care programme. We Care provides eligible service-activated cover for specified components, potentially up to eight years or 100,000 miles, subject to terms. Confirm qualifying registration, repairer requirements and exclusions. It is not a substitute for understanding the funder’s servicing obligations or arranging appropriate maintenance and insurance.

Citroën C3 company-car tax across the lease

C3 offers three different company-car tax outcomes. The electric ë-C3 uses the zero-emission path. The captured Hybrid 110 and Turbo rows show 114 g/km and 127 g/km respectively; the conditional bands below apply only if the supplied vehicle’s certified figures fall within those ranges.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

Turbo petrol if certified at 125-129 g/km31%31%32%33%

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Citroën C3. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Citroën C3 leasing questions

Does IVF’s C3 route include the electric ë-C3?

Yes. The captured catalogue includes petrol Turbo, Hybrid 110 and fully electric ë-C3 entries. Citroën UK also lists all three powertrain types. State the version you mean when enquiring, because the charging requirements and company-car tax calculations differ.

Is C3 Hybrid 110 a plug-in hybrid?

No. The current UK Hybrid 110 is an automatic petrol-electric hybrid without external charging. The ë-C3 is the fully electric alternative. A hybrid badge does not qualify the car for the zero-emission company-car percentage.

What are the ë-C3 battery options?

Citroën UK lists 30 kWh and 44 kWh versions with an 83 kW motor. IVF’s smaller-battery rows are labelled Urban Range Plus. Ask for the supplied model-year technical sheet and charging specification before deciding which battery suits your journeys.

How do the two ë-C3 ranges compare?

The current UK website quotes up to 130 miles WLTP for 30 kWh and 202 miles for 44 kWh. These are comparison benchmarks for the matching derivatives, not everyday promises. Confirm grade, wheels and model year, then allow for speed, weather, heating and load.

Can a business lease a C3 or ë-C3?

IVF can discuss business contract hire subject to vehicle supply, status and funder criteria. Specify the powertrain and whether the car will be available for private use. Compare the employer’s costs and the driver’s tax separately across the planned agreement.

Which C3 trims are shown in the catalogue?

The captured rows include Plus, Collection and Max, alongside the Urban Range Plus electric description. Not every trim appears with every powertrain. The current manufacturer selector and the catalogue can reflect different versions, so obtain the precise equipment list with the quotation.

Is C3 the same type of vehicle as Citroën Ami?

No. C3 and ë-C3 are conventional passenger cars. Ami is a separate light-quadricycle product for a different task. Use the dedicated Ami page for its restrictions and suitability; do not transfer Ami assumptions to a C3 lease.

Does Citroën provide an unconditional eight-year C3 warranty?

No. Separate the three-year standard warranty, applicable electric-battery cover and conditional We Care protection. We Care is activated through qualifying scheduled servicing and covers specified components subject to terms. Obtain the documents for the offered car and registration date.

Can I use the same charging figure for both ë-C3 batteries?

Only if the manufacturer document explicitly covers both supplied versions under the same conditions. Battery size and charging equipment can differ. Ask for AC and DC capability for the exact quoted car, rather than transferring a figure from another ë-C3 review.

What should I compare with a C3 quotation?

Compare the same mileage, term, maintenance basis and required equipment across petrol, Hybrid 110 and ë-C3. Add realistic charging arrangements for electric use. Discuss insurance, warranty mileage limits, road-tax treatment and return obligations before deciding.
