Your Citroen C4 X leasing decision

Citroen C4 X leasing is for drivers who want a four-door fastback with a separate boot rather than the C4 hatchback. Intelligent Vehicle Finance lists Hybrid 145 and electric ë-C4 X versions. Confirm the exact UK specification and supply, then compare luggage access, charging needs and company-car tax before choosing a contract.

Citroen C4 X business leasing: the boot matters as much as the badge

A separate luggage compartment is a useful starting point for the C4 X. Someone carrying overnight bags or work material may prefer keeping them apart from the passenger cabin. Someone transporting tall or awkward objects might instead need a hatchback opening. That distinction is more important than deciding which car looks most like an SUV in a photograph.

The C4 X is a passenger-car choice for an individual, family or business driver. Picture a normal working week: commuting, client visits, a supermarket stop and a longer trip with passengers. Try the luggage you actually carry and check access from the rear seats. If a colleague or family member frequently travels behind a tall driver, assess that seating arrangement rather than judging legroom with the front seat pushed forward.

Citroen C4 X leasing: key facts

  • Citroen describes the ë-C4 X as a four-door fastback, distinct from the C4 hatchback.
  • The UK electric page identifies 50kWh/100kW and 54kWh/115kW versions; battery labels must be matched to the supplied car.
  • IVF’s captured electric entries are Plus Standard Range and Max Extended Range.
  • The same IVF route lists 1.2 Hybrid 145 Plus and Max; confirm current UK ordering specification separately.
  • Citroen’s electric model page remains active, but its Hybrid link redirected to the C4 hatchback at this check. This does not prove C4 X Hybrid supply.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

The C4 X should earn its place through the way it carries people and luggage. Styling similarity is not evidence of identical boot access, ride comfort or powertrain availability.

What the C4 X catalogue shows, and what still needs checking

Four derivative entries were captured on 28 September 2026. Two are 1.2 Hybrid 145 cars in Plus and Max specification. The electric pair comprises a 100kW Plus Standard Range 50kWh and a 115kW Max Extended Range 54kWh. The route brings these choices together; it does not establish that every engine, trim and battery can be freely combined.

Citroen's UK ë-C4 X page identifies both electric battery and motor combinations. At this check, following its Hybrid link led to the C4 hatchback page rather than a dedicated C4 X Hybrid page. We therefore need supplier confirmation of the current UK Hybrid 145 specification before treating the IVF entry as an orderable car. This is not evidence that the whole C4 X has been discontinued, and it is not a reason to substitute C4 hatchback details.

Hybrid or electric: choose the routine you can sustain

If you are considering Hybrid 145, ask for a clear explanation of its non-plug-in powertrain and the certified figures for that exact C4 X. The presence of an electric motor is not the same as an externally charged battery or zero tailpipe emissions. A driver without dependable charging may prefer that refuelling routine, but still needs to consider fuel use and personal tax on the correct basis.

The ë-C4 X makes charging part of the weekly routine. Establish where the car would charge overnight or during the working day, and whether access depends on booking a shared space. Compare public alternatives for the journeys you make repeatedly. Do not assume the larger battery automatically removes every inconvenient stop; your starting charge, speed, weather and passenger load remain part of the journey plan.

Standard Range and Extended Range need matched specifications

The captured grid's Standard Range and Extended Range labels are useful ways to distinguish its two electric entries. They are not a guarantee of distance on your route. Obtain the official WLTP figure for the supplied battery, motor and equipment, then make a practical allowance for winter driving and motorway use. Do not choose a figure from a different Citroen model just because the battery description looks familiar.

Charging comparisons also need a common basis. Ask which AC charging equipment the car has, which cables are included and what DC charging conditions underpin a quoted time. A home connection and a public rapid charger do different jobs. For a company car, agree how drivers record charging expenditure and who provides support if workplace access changes during the lease.

Comfort, rear access and choosing between Plus and Max

Citroen's comfort positioning makes a proper seat and ride assessment worthwhile. Sit in the exact trim rather than assuming a photograph represents every car. Check whether you can adjust the seat to keep your shoulders relaxed, read the main display without leaning forward and operate demisting easily. A long-distance driver should evaluate those everyday controls before giving priority to decorative equipment.

Compare Plus and Max using written equipment schedules. If a reversing camera, heated seat or a particular assistance function is essential, specify it rather than assuming the higher trim has everything. Take passengers along when possible and check entry beneath the rear roofline. A car can have a comfortable seat once occupied yet still be awkward for someone who needs a wider or taller doorway.

Make the C4 X agreement fit the actual car

Prepare a brief naming the four-door C4 X explicitly, since the C4 hatchback is a separate choice. Add Hybrid 145 or the electric battery and motor description, required equipment and expected mileage. If you would accept either powertrain, compare the complete operating arrangement rather than requesting whichever grid entry happens to appear first.

Rental figures are displayed in the live catalogue. Align initial rental, agreement length, mileage allowance, maintenance and fees when comparing them, then consider charging or petrol costs and any employee benefit separately. Ask how road-tax changes are treated and check insurance for your intended use. Neither Citroen's manufacturer finance offers nor its sales-page incentives should be assumed to form part of an IVF contract-hire quotation.

Citroen C4 X company-car tax across the lease

The ë-C4 X is a zero-emission electric car for company-car benefit purposes. A non-plug-in C4 X Hybrid is assessed by its certified CO2 and does not inherit that electric percentage.

An employee’s benefit normally uses P11D multiplied by the applicable percentage before personal income tax is calculated. Confirm the exact C4 X on the quotation, particularly while Hybrid specification evidence is being reconciled. The maximum row below is a general ceiling, not a claimed Hybrid 145 rate. For a private lease, the presence of business journeys alone does not create the same company-car treatment.

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Citroen C4 X. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, annual VED after year one is £200 before supplements. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later cash rates are not confirmed here. Check the funder’s treatment of increases.

Expensive Car Supplement. The £440 annual supplement lasts five years from year two. List-price thresholds, including relevant options before discounts, are over £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, and over £50,000 for zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Registration date matters. Plug-in hybrids use the £40,000 threshold. Check GOV.UK’s VED rules.

Planned eVED. eVED is planned from April 2028 alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids. It is not currently charged. CPI uprating is proposed from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Check the funder’s treatment and the government’s consultation response.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Citroen C4 X leasing questions

Is the Citroen C4 X the same as the C4?

No. The C4 X is the four-door fastback with a separate boot; the C4 is the hatchback alternative. Compare access and luggage shape, not just styling. IVF has separate routes, and a C4 hatchback specification should not be used to confirm a C4 X quotation.

Which C4 X versions does IVF list?

The capture contains Hybrid 145 Plus and Max, plus electric 100kW Plus 50kWh and 115kW Max 54kWh entries. Availability needs confirmation. Citroen's current electric page supports the electric combinations, while the Hybrid ordering specification requires a further supplier check.

Is the ë-C4 X fully electric?

Yes. The ë-C4 X is the battery-electric version and needs external charging. It differs from the Hybrid 145 listings. Identify the battery, motor and trim in the quotation so that charging, range and tax information apply to the same vehicle.

Can I order the C4 X Hybrid 145 now?

IVF lists it, but the manufacturer's Hybrid link redirected to the C4 hatchback when checked on 28 September 2026. Ask IVF to confirm a particular UK C4 X Hybrid specification and supply before progressing. The catalogue entry alone cannot settle current orderability.

Which ë-C4 X battery should I choose?

Compare the 50kWh and 54kWh catalogue versions against your actual charging access and longest regular journey. Obtain matched manufacturer data before calculating practical range. Do not assume every battery is available with both trims or that an Extended Range label predicts every trip.

Does the C4 X have a hatchback boot?

It has a separate boot rather than the C4's hatchback opening. Try bulky work bags, a pushchair or sports equipment physically. The volume and shape of the opening both matter, particularly when an item is tall or difficult to rotate into position.

Is the C4 X useful as a company car?

It can be considered for business use subject to funder criteria and the passenger task. Electric and Hybrid versions have different benefit calculations. Model the actual P11D and tax-year path with an accountant rather than selecting by a generic hybrid or electric label.

How quickly can an ë-C4 X charge?

The answer depends on the supplied car's charging hardware, connection and conditions. Ask for the relevant AC and DC specifications and the state-of-charge window behind any quoted duration. A peak charger rating is not the average power delivered throughout a charging session.

How do I compare C4 X lease quotations?

Match body, powertrain and trim first, then align mileage, term, initial rental, maintenance and applicable fees. Add energy costs using tariffs you can access. Confirm that the quoted car is a C4 X rather than the separate C4 hatchback.

What happens at the end of C4 X contract hire?

The car is returned rather than purchased under the contract. Check condition, mileage, service history and equipment obligations, including charging cables for an electric car. Early termination can also carry costs, so read that section before committing to the term.
