Ford Transit Custom leasing: key decisions

  • Panel van, Double Cab-in-Van and Multicab address different cargo and crew needs.
  • The UK range includes diesel, plug-in hybrid and E-Transit Custom electric options.
  • Confirm required seats and remaining load space together.
  • Specify charging, racking, roof equipment and towing needs before the quotation.

Use the vehicle listings to identify a possible specification, then ask us to confirm the exact derivative, availability and lease basis. If you cannot see the body or powertrain you need, tell us your requirement.

An administration fee of £295 + VAT applies. Any other applicable fees and the lease cost components will be confirmed in your quotation and agreement.

Choose a layout for the crew and the kit

A Double Cab-in-Van puts a passenger row behind the cab. Multicab retains a full-length loading section alongside its crew layout. Long materials and wide bulky items can therefore lead to different body choices even when the same people need to travel.

Choose the body around people and equipment

A panel van gives you a cargo area separated from the cab. A Double Cab-in-Van adds a passenger row, while Ford’s Multicab combines a second row with a full-length load area and a solid, full-height bulkhead. The useful comparison is the space left for your actual equipment with every required passenger aboard.

Diesel, PHEV or E-Transit Custom?

Ford lists EcoBlue diesel, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric versions in the UK Transit Custom range. Availability and equipment differ by derivative; we will confirm the exact vehicle offered rather than transferring features between versions.

For an electric quote, give us the longest loaded day and where the van can charge. For a PHEV, explain how often it can be plugged in as well as the longer trips. If routes change at short notice and charging is difficult, include diesel in the comparison. Published range figures do not guarantee loaded winter range.

Avoid a mismatch on the details that matter

Start with the load weight, longest item and number of occupants. Add the tools carried every day and equipment such as racking or roof bars. The quoted van’s payload and height need checking after those choices, not before.

Ask for confirmation of gearbox, driven wheels and any required towing equipment. A trim label is not proof that a particular feature is included. For specialist fittings, establish the permission, cost and return conditions with the funder before work starts.

Compare another medium van, or step up a size

The Volkswagen Transporter is a useful medium-van alternative to compare against the same job specification. If the limiting factor is cargo space rather than passenger seats, consider the larger Ford Transit.

IVF can use the same term, mileage and equipment requirement across quotations. Tell us your required date, but keep availability and delivery subject to confirmation for the exact vehicle; an online model listing does not reserve a van.

How your van lease is arranged

Call us or request a callback with the body you need, the people and equipment it will carry, your annual mileage and preferred term. Include any deadline and charging or conversion requirement.

  1. Agree the requirement. Check the vehicle and its practical constraints before deciding on a derivative.
  2. Review a complete quotation. Compare the initial rental, monthly rentals, term, mileage, fees and any selected services on the same basis.
  3. Confirm the vehicle and agreement. Funding is subject to status and individual funder criteria. Availability and delivery timing must be confirmed for the exact vehicle.
  4. Plan for operation and return. Understand servicing, insurance and maintenance responsibilities, excess mileage, early termination and the agreed vehicle-return standard.

Transit Custom versions on published figures

The figures below are the manufacturers’ own published UK specifications, checked on 6 September 2026 and listed with their sources at the end of this section. Figures vary by version, equipment and model year, and some manufacturers publish different numbers on different pages, which is noted where it applies. Confirm the exact vehicle on the written quotation before relying on any of them.

Figures and sources

Manufacturer and government sources checked on 6 September 2026. These sources establish published specifications, not the availability of any particular vehicle.

Ford Transit Custom leasing questions

Is Transit Custom available as a plug-in hybrid?

Ford’s UK Transit Custom range includes a plug-in hybrid alongside diesel and electric choices. Ask IVF to confirm the exact body, derivative and current supply. A PHEV needs regular charging to make use of its electric capability.

What is the difference between a Double Cab-in-Van and a panel van?

A panel van prioritises cargo space behind the cab bulkhead. A Double Cab-in-Van adds a passenger row, changing the space left for tools or freight. Compare the load area with the required seats in use.

Will a Transit Custom fit under a height barrier?

Check the exact quoted derivative’s overall height and any roof-mounted equipment against the barrier. Do not assume every Transit Custom has the same height or that a standard van measurement includes your accessories.

Can I add maintenance to the quotation?

Ask for the maintenance option and its written scope alongside the vehicle quotation. Confirm what it covers, including any servicing, tyres or breakdown arrangements, and what remains your responsibility. Do not assume it is included unless the quote says so.
