Your Genesis G70 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps drivers assess Genesis G70 leasing enquiries with its UK status made clear. The G70 is no longer in Genesis UK’s configurable new-car range. IVF retains saloon and estate catalogue entries, but these do not confirm new supply. Compare the BMW 3 Series and Genesis G80 routes while availability is checked.

Genesis G70 business and personal leasing starts with UK model status

A G70 search now needs an availability check before a specification comparison. On 24 September 2026, Genesis UK’s model selector provided new-car configuration for its electric models, while the G70 and G70 Shooting Brake were directed away from new-car configuration. Its G70 information page and price document remain accessible. Those older product materials explain the car, but do not reopen factory ordering.

IVF’s route still contains four G70 derivative rows. They must not be read as evidence that four cars are available. Ask whether a genuinely new, correctly described vehicle can be sourced, on what registration basis and with which funder. If that cannot be established, use an alternative route promptly instead of arranging your replacement around a catalogue entry.

Genesis G70 leasing: key facts

  • Genesis UK’s model selector currently gives the G70 and G70 Shooting Brake no new-car configuration option. A surviving brochure or IVF listing is not proof of a factory order.
  • IVF’s captured G70 entries are 2.0T 245 Sport automatics in four-door saloon and five-door estate forms, with separate Innovation Pack entries.
  • Genesis’s UK saloon reference specifies a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
  • The UK G70 2.0T saloon reference gives 245 PS and 353 Nm. These are manufacturer reference figures, not a verified specification for an allocated vehicle.
  • The linked UK saloon price/specification PDF records five seats, a 4,685 mm length and a 2,835 mm wheelbase. Its 330-litre VDA luggage figure is for the saloon, not the Shooting Brake.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

These are alternative enquiry routes, not confirmation that any particular derivative can be supplied. A substitute should meet the original passenger, driving and business requirements.

Saloon and Shooting Brake are separate practical choices

The four-door G70 is the saloon. The five-door estate entries on IVF’s shared G70 route refer to the Shooting Brake body. Both appear as 2.0T 245 Sport automatics, with and without Innovation Pack wording. There is no separate G70 estate route in the model sitemap captured for this review, so the distinction needs to be made within the enquiry itself.

Genesis’s linked UK saloon PDF gives a 330-litre VDA luggage reference. That number must not be presented as the estate’s capacity. More fundamentally, the saloon boot opening and an estate tailgate serve different loads. If presentation equipment, a folded pushchair or other bulky belongings determine the choice, try the correct body rather than treating the shared model name as proof of practicality.

Assess the driving and ownership requirements without assuming supply

For someone drawn to the G70’s low saloon format, a test should focus on the features that matter during an ordinary working day. Check getting in and out in a confined bay, the steering-wheel and seat adjustment range, and visibility when joining busy roads. Then try the rear seats with the front seats in their real positions. A sports-oriented appearance alone does not answer the comfort question.

The Sport name and Innovation Pack suffix should prompt an equipment reconciliation. Ask which camera, lighting, display and driver-assistance functions are present on the particular UK car. Genesis’s general product page includes equipment caveats; it should not be treated as a promise that every feature described is fitted. Do not substitute a brochure checklist for the supplied vehicle’s actual option record.

Choose an alternative around the reason you wanted a G70

If a saloon for regular client travel is the essential requirement, compare the BMW 3 Series route on seating, luggage access and the powertrain you would actually select. If you wanted the Shooting Brake’s loading arrangement, include the relevant Touring body in that comparison. Keep the mileage and contract assumptions consistent so a change in agreement structure does not obscure the vehicle decision.

The Genesis G80 route is useful when remaining with the marque matters, but it should not be described as a like-for-like successor. Confirm which generation and powertrain are being discussed there. Moving to an electric saloon introduces charging access, journey planning and different tax treatment; it is a new decision even when the badge is familiar. Consider the routine you are prepared to change as well as the equipment you want to retain.

Genesis G70 company-car tax across the lease

The petrol G70 is not an electric or plug-in hybrid company car. Genesis’s retained UK petrol saloon references sit above the CO2 level that reaches the maximum ordinary company-car band. Confirm the offered vehicle’s certificate and P11D value before applying that benchmark.

The relevant director or employee benefit is based on the supplied car’s taxable value and appropriate percentage, with personal income tax applied afterwards. A different lease rental does not turn this petrol car into a lower-emission tax category. For private leasing, this employer-provided company-car calculation is not the basis of the personal rental.

Use the full four-year sequence when judging the G70 against another saloon. At the maximum band, the percentage rises after 2027/28. Options can also change the taxable value, and an earlier registration may change other costs. Have your accountant check the actual documents before comparing the petrol G70 with an electric Genesis alternative.

Petrol G70 reference: certified CO2 at the maximum band37%37%38%39%

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Genesis G70. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing. The Genesis G70 powertrain discussed here is outside those planned electric and plug-in hybrid categories.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Genesis G70 leasing questions

Can I still order a new Genesis G70 in the UK?

The G70 is no longer in Genesis UK’s configurable new-car range, as checked on 24 September 2026. IVF’s retained catalogue does not prove remaining new supply. Ask IVF to establish the actual vehicle and registration position first; no factory order or delivery commitment is implied.

Does IVF’s G70 page cover the estate as well as the saloon?

Yes. The captured route includes four-door Sport saloon and five-door Sport estate entries, plus Innovation Pack versions of each. The estate is the G70 Shooting Brake body. Tell IVF which shape you mean so saloon dimensions and luggage figures are not applied to the estate.

Is the Genesis G70 an electric company car?

The G70 entries captured here are 2.0-litre turbo petrol automatics. They are not battery-electric or plug-in hybrid cars and do not receive the zero-emission company-car percentage. Genesis’s electric models are separate products with their own vehicle specifications and charging requirements.

Can a business lease the G70 shown in the catalogue?

A business enquiry can be assessed, but a listing does not establish that a suitable new vehicle and funding arrangement exist. Confirm supply first, then consider Business Contract Hire subject to status and funder criteria. The petrol-car tax position also needs checking against the actual vehicle documents.

What should a private driver check before requesting a G70 quote?

Start with new-vehicle availability and body style, followed by seat comfort, rear access, boot opening and the precise equipment. Ask about registration date, warranty and servicing arrangements. If supply cannot be confirmed, use those requirements to compare an alternative rather than relying on a retained model listing.

What does the G70 Innovation Pack include?

The captured IVF names show an Innovation Pack option, but the name alone does not verify its equipment for a particular car. Obtain the relevant UK model-year specification and written option list. Confirm individual display, camera and assistance functions instead of applying a general global product description.

Is the G70 Shooting Brake’s luggage capacity the same as the saloon?

No common capacity should be assumed. The linked UK saloon reference gives 330 litres VDA, which is a saloon figure only. The estate has a different body and loading opening. Ask for its own specification and test your actual luggage with the seats occupied as they normally would be.

Which alternatives should I compare with the Genesis G70?

The BMW 3 Series route is relevant for saloon or Touring requirements. The Genesis G80 route is useful if staying with Genesis matters, but it is a different model and not a direct replacement claim. Compare the supplied generation, powertrain and everyday requirements rather than the badges alone.

How does G70 company-car tax change through 2029/30?

For a petrol G70 whose certified CO2 reaches the maximum band, the appropriate percentages are 37%, 37%, 38% and 39% from 2026/27 through 2029/30. Those percentages determine the benefit before personal income tax. Confirm the actual CO2, P11D value and circumstances with your accountant.

Does an old Genesis care-plan description apply to a new lease enquiry?

Do not assume it does. The supplied vehicle’s first registration, warranty terms and any remaining plan determine support. Funder maintenance is separate. Ask for the applicable inclusions, time and mileage limits in writing, together with the servicing arrangements for the area where the car will be used.
