Intelligent Vehicle Finance can help you assess Genesis GV60 Magma business and personal leasing. This is the performance GV60, with an 84kWh battery and all-wheel drive, rather than another ordinary GV60 trim. Compare its road manners, running commitments and equipment with the standard model before choosing a quotation.
The GV60 Magma suits a driver who specifically wants a performance electric SUV and is prepared to assess the consequences of that choice. It is not simply a way to obtain the ordinary GV60 cabin with a different badge. The extra performance equipment deserves a test drive, an insurance quotation and a realistic look at tyres and day-to-day comfort. A director can value the driving experience while still making a disciplined business decision.
If your priority is quiet, comfortable electric travel with passengers, start by comparing the standard GV60. It may answer the brief without the Magma's particular performance focus. If the Magma remains the preferred choice, be able to explain which features you will value on ordinary roads. A high peak-output figure is less informative than how the car behaves on your commute, at parking speeds and during a long day behind the wheel.
Genesis GV60 Magma and two alternatives: match the vehicle to your journeys
| Model | Reason to consider it | What to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Genesis GV60 Magma | Performance electric SUV | Test its specific modes, ride and running commitments |
| Genesis GV60 | Everyday premium electric SUV | Check whether the standard range meets the brief |
| Hyundai Ioniq 5 | Alternative electric SUV family | Identify the actual derivative before a performance comparison |
Genesis's UK page markets the GV60 Magma as a current product and describes its 84kWh battery, dual-motor layout and all-wheel drive. IVF's captured catalogue has one matching broad description: 478kW 84kWh 5dr AWD Auto. Ask the supplying retailer to identify the model year, equipment, colours and registration status of the vehicle being quoted.
The 478kW figure is the manufacturer's peak Boost-mode output. It must not be described as permanently available under every operating condition. Ask for a clear explanation of how the performance functions are activated and any battery or temperature requirements. The quotation should identify the actual car rather than only repeating the headline power number. If another GV60 appears as an alternative, check whether it is genuinely a Magma or belongs on the separate standard-model route.
Drive the Magma over the surfaces you encounter most often. Assess the ride, seat support, steering effort and ease of placing the vehicle in a parking space. Performance-focused suspension and tyres need to suit the driver even when there is no opportunity or desire to use strong acceleration. A car that feels exciting for a brief demonstration may present a different proposition over a week's commuting.
Genesis describes dedicated Magma modes and simulated gearshift functions. Have the retailer demonstrate how to select a comfortable everyday setup and how to recognise the active mode. Decide whether those features add to your enjoyment or whether you would prefer the simpler experience of another version. For a shared company car, ensure that other authorised drivers receive the same handover rather than assuming they will understand the controls from the ordinary GV60.
Ask regular passengers to assess access and comfort with the front seats correctly positioned. Follow fitting instructions for child seats. Performance equipment cannot establish whether the cabin suits the people travelling behind the driver.
Try your normal luggage with the required seats occupied, including a place for charging equipment. Measure your usual parking bays and door-opening space. The Magma still needs to perform ordinary passenger tasks alongside its performance role.
Do not apply an ordinary GV60 range figure to the Magma. Performance specification, tyres, wheels and calibration can change the relevant benchmark, even where two vehicles share a family name. Request the current UK WLTP and charging data for the exact supplied Magma. This page gives no numerical driving-range or rapid-charge duration promise against the single IVF entry until that precise specification and test scope are confirmed.
Plan the charging routine around where the car spends time. Overnight home charging, a dependable workplace point and public stops each create different demands on the week. For longer journeys, use a route with a practical fallback and allow for temperature, weather and speed. A high-performance drive can use energy differently from a steady commute; the appropriate reserve should reflect how the vehicle will actually be driven, not the most favourable demonstration.
Get an insurance quotation for GV60 Magma, not merely GV60, and disclose the intended use. Check the replacement tyre specification and whether an optional maintenance agreement includes the tyres you expect it to cover. Wheel damage, tyre wear and consumables can be material running commitments even when a manufacturer warranty covers eligible defects. A package name is not a substitute for reading its inclusions and exclusions.
Genesis publishes five years of unlimited-mileage UK vehicle warranty, subject to terms. Confirm its application to the particular vehicle and its use, including the first-registration date and traction-battery conditions. If any track activity is contemplated, obtain written agreement from the funder and insurer and check the warranty position first. Manufacturer publicity about performance capability does not grant permission under a lease or an insurance policy. This page concerns ordinary business and personal contract hire, not an assumed motorsport entitlement.
The standard GV60 is the first comparison because it tests whether the Magma-specific package is necessary for your priorities. Compare seating, everyday controls, charging arrangements and the actual equipment on equivalent written quotations. Do not let a shared cabin appearance hide the different running commitments. Equally, do not assume the more performance-focused car is unsuitable without driving it; the decision should come from the use case and the demonstration.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 route gives another electric SUV family to investigate. Where a performance derivative is the real comparison, make that explicit rather than comparing Magma against an unspecified standard vehicle. The relevant equipment and UK availability must be established separately. An electric SUV comparison becomes useful when it is precise about the versions and about what the driver wants from them, rather than just lining up peak power figures.
The GV60 Magma is electric, so the zero-emission company-car percentages apply when it is provided with private use under the ordinary car rules. Its performance equipment and options can still change the P11D value. Compare the full term, including road-tax supplement exposure, rather than treating a low starting BiK percentage as the entire cost.
For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.
The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission electric car | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Genesis leasing, Genesis GV60 leasing, Hyundai Ioniq 5 leasing, business car leasing, electric car leasing to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Yes. Genesis positions Magma as the performance GV60 with dedicated equipment and drive modes. Compare it with the separate standard GV60 range rather than assuming it is only a cosmetic package.
Genesis currently markets it on its UK site and IVF lists one derivative. That does not establish stock or a delivery date for your enquiry. Ask for written confirmation of the supplied vehicle and timing.
Genesis identifies an 84kWh battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive. IVF's captured entry is described as 478kW 84kWh 5dr AWD Auto. Confirm the precise model year and equipment on the quotation.
Genesis describes 478kW as peak output in Boost mode. It is not a continuous-output promise for every driving condition. Ask the retailer to explain activation, duration and operating requirements during the handover.
IVF can assess a business contract-hire enquiry, subject to status and availability. Check employer policy and P11D value as well as the electric BiK path. Performance specification can affect running commitments even with the same tax percentage.
No. Obtain the official figures for the exact Magma specification. Wheels, tyres and performance calibration matter, and a standard-model benchmark should not be transferred to the performance version.
Do not assume so. Obtain written permission from the funder and insurer and check the warranty terms before any proposed track activity. Manufacturer performance publicity does not amend those agreements.
Confirm servicing requirements, approved tyres and the inclusions of any maintenance package. Warranty, consumables, accidental damage and roadside support are separate matters. Request the applicable UK warranty booklet for the supplied car.
Compare written terms for the same Magma specification, duration, mileage and maintenance basis. The vehicle grid shows starting quotation information; confirm fees, tax provisions and return obligations before accepting a proposal.
Send your preferred specification, annual mileage, charging arrangements and parking or passenger requirements. State whether the quotation is business or personal, and flag any equipment that must be included on the offered Magma.
Bring your passenger, journey and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
