Your Kia EV5 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Kia EV5 business and personal leasing. Choose between the listed Air, GT-Line, Storm and GT-Line S specifications, with front-wheel or all-wheel drive where shown. Confirm equipment and charging needs first; your lease quotation depends on the exact car, mileage, term and contract choices.

Kia EV5 business lease: choose the family SUV you need

EV5 is the Kia electric SUV to assess when EV3 feels too compact for the regular passenger and luggage task, while EV9’s different size and seating proposition may be more than you need. That position is a starting question, not a reason to choose it automatically. We would test the cabin with normal occupants and the luggage that travels with them before choosing a grade.

For a business driver with family use, put both halves of the week into the brief. A car that works for a solo commute may feel different with passengers and holiday bags aboard. For a personal agreement, the same practical exercise helps avoid selecting equipment around a problem that is really about space. If dependable charging or the required passenger layout cannot be arranged, reconsider the vehicle choice before requesting a detailed proposal.

Kia EV5 leasing: key facts

  • Kia UK’s EV5 specification gives an 81.4 kWh battery for its current front-wheel and all-wheel drive references. IVF uses that battery description throughout the captured range.
  • The UK reference distinguishes 160 kW front-wheel drive from 195 kW all-wheel drive. IVF lists AWD in GT-Line and GT-Line S descriptions.
  • Kia’s Air front-wheel-drive reference on 18-inch wheels has a 329-mile combined WLTP benchmark. Match the offered model year and equipment; weather, load and speed change real range.
  • The UK capacity table gives 566 litres of rear luggage space with seats upright and a separate 44-litre front compartment. Test actual luggage rather than adding the two as one load space.
  • IVF lists Air, GT-Line, Storm and GT-Line S, including separately named Heat Pump versions of GT-Line S. Do not infer that equipment solely from the model name.
  • GOV.UK: zero-emission company-car BiK is 4% in 2026/27, rising to 9% in 2029/30.

Air, GT-Line, Storm and GT-Line S in the live table

Every captured EV5 entry uses an 81.4kWh battery description. Air and Storm are labelled 160kW, as are the front-wheel-drive GT-Line and GT-Line S entries. The table also contains 195kW GT-Line and GT-Line S descriptions explicitly marked AWD. A separately named Heat Pump entry appears for GT-Line S in both drivetrain forms. The full line therefore matters more than the grade alone.

Use those distinctions to build a shortlist around equipment and drivetrain needs. If a heat pump is essential, state it in the request and have it confirmed in the offered car. If all-wheel drive is the reason for moving between versions, confirm AWD explicitly. Neither the shared battery label nor the GT-Line name means two proposals will have the same range, output or equipment.

Do not give every EV5 the Air range headline

Kia’s current UK table distinguishes range by wheels, grade and drivetrain. The Air front-wheel-drive reference uses 18-inch wheels, whereas other configurations have different published results. The 329-mile combined WLTP benchmark quoted above belongs to that Air reference only, with the matching model year and equipment still to be checked. It is not assigned to Storm, GT-Line, GT-Line S or an AWD car.

Once you have the correct figure, plan journeys around real conditions rather than the largest test number. Higher-speed travel, temperature, cabin heating and the load carried can alter the distance between stops. Write down the demanding regular journey and the charging options along it. Average weekly mileage can conceal a single day that determines which car and charging routine will work.

Front-wheel drive or AWD, with a clear reason

The UK specification differentiates the front-wheel and all-wheel-drive powertrains, and the live descriptions make that choice visible. Consider where and how you use the vehicle before deciding. A preference for AWD should be discussed alongside tyre choice and the actual conditions encountered. It should not be treated as a promise that a car can overcome every difficult surface or that all versions will use energy in the same way.

Towing or carrying unusual equipment needs a more specific discussion. Have the supplier confirm the exact derivative’s permitted loads, towbar compatibility and contractual permission before relying on it. Do not transfer a capacity from an AWD reference to a front-wheel-drive car or assume that fitting an accessory establishes permission under the agreement. Keep those specialist requirements in writing at the quotation stage.

Family loading and charging belong in the same test

The separate front compartment can be useful for smaller items, but it should not be added to the rear luggage figure as if they were one uninterrupted space. Try the items you actually carry and decide where charging cables will live. A cable buried beneath a fully loaded boot is inconvenient when you reach a destination charger. Think through that operation with passengers aboard rather than with an empty demonstration car.

At home or work, confirm the installation and access arrangement for the parking position you use. On longer trips, identify chargers that are practical for the group, with a backup if the preferred unit is unavailable. Obtain charging information for the exact supplied EV5 and the power available at your location. This page does not promise a universal charging duration across every derivative or charging situation.

Compare EV3 and EV9 before requesting an EV5 price

EV3 is the useful comparison if a more compact Kia may already meet the everyday need. Test its cabin and luggage arrangement before assuming the EV5 is necessary. EV9 is relevant when passenger capacity or a different seating layout drives the enquiry. Check the exact EV9 configuration, because a model-family name alone does not resolve how everyone will sit or where the luggage goes.

Once EV5 is the preferred brief, specify grade, drivetrain, wheels, options and any heat-pump requirement. Compare the same annual mileage, term, initial rental and maintenance content across proposals. A business request also needs a clear policy for private availability and charging expenditure. The initial quotation should make these assumptions visible rather than leave them to emerge after a particular payment has caught your attention.

Kia EV5 company-car tax across the lease

For an EV5 company car, the electric percentage applies to the supplied car’s P11D. Air, an AWD derivative and a differently equipped GT-Line S need separate values even though they remain in the same zero-emission category.

Take the P11D from the actual EV5 proposal and use the appropriate annual percentage to establish an employee’s benefit. Apply personal income-tax circumstances separately. An AWD or heat-pump specification may carry a different value without changing the zero-emission category. Review the years the agreement crosses and the employer’s charging policy alongside it. For a personal lessee or a sole trader using their own car, obtain advice for that arrangement rather than copying an employee benefit calculation.

Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Kia EV5 leasing questions

Can I request Kia EV5 business leasing?

Yes. Give IVF the grade, drivetrain, equipment and intended use, subject to status and funder criteria. For private availability, use the supplied P11D and the applicable tax-year percentages rather than calculating tax from the lease rental.

What changes a Kia EV5 lease price?

Grade, drivetrain, wheels, options, mileage, term, initial rental and maintenance affect the proposal. Confirm any heat-pump requirement and compare the full contract schedule on the same basis across funder proposals.

Which EV5 grades does IVF list?

The captured table contains Air, GT-Line, Storm and GT-Line S. GT-Line S includes separately named Heat Pump descriptions. Ask for the current UK equipment schedule for the precise car before relying on a grade name.

Is every EV5 all-wheel drive?

No. The list includes front-wheel-drive descriptions as well as explicitly labelled AWD entries. Kia’s UK reference distinguishes 160kW FWD and 195kW AWD powertrains. Confirm the drivetrain in the written quotation.

Does every EV5 have the Air headline range?

No. Kia publishes different results for different wheels, grades and drivetrains. The Air reference must be matched to the offered specification and should not be transferred to other versions. Real conditions affect driving distance.

Is a heat pump included on every GT-Line S?

Do not infer that from the grade alone. IVF has separately labelled Heat Pump entries. If it matters to the requirement, have the feature written into the offered specification and confirmed for that model year.

Can the front and rear luggage capacities be treated as one boot?

No. They are separate compartments with different access and shapes. Try the actual bags and equipment, and consider where charging cables can remain accessible when the rear compartment is loaded.

When should I compare EV5 with EV3?

When a more compact electric SUV may already meet the regular passenger and luggage need. Try both cabins and loading arrangements so the decision reflects your normal journeys rather than the model numbers alone.

When is EV9 a more relevant alternative?

When passenger capacity or seating layout calls for its different proposition. Confirm the exact EV9 configuration and test access and luggage with the required seats occupied before deciding that a larger vehicle solves the brief.

What should I confirm before choosing an EV5?

Check the full derivative, wheels, equipment, charging access, insurance and any towing requirement. Review maintenance, tax provisions, annual mileage and return conditions as well as the rental schedule before accepting a proposal.
