Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps business and private drivers assess Mercedes-Benz EQV leasing as an electric passenger MPV. IVF currently lists one EQV 300 Executive Long reference. Check its seating layout, charging routine and luggage space together; a large cabin is useful only when the journey and the exact supplied specification work for your passengers.
The EQV belongs on a shortlist when carrying people comfortably is the main task and a dependable charging routine can support it. For an SME, that might mean staff travelling together between offices or regular group journeys with a known return base. For a private driver, it may mean several family members and their luggage. In either case, count the passengers and bags at the same time: an empty rear compartment says little about space with all required seats occupied.
This is the passenger MPV route. The current UK brochure identifies an Executive Long specification, while IVF’s checked page has one matching broad description. That narrow catalogue makes the precise vehicle more important, not less. Do not assume an alternative body length, a different seat package or another battery can be selected merely because it has existed elsewhere in the Mercedes-Benz range.
| Route | Reason to compare | Check on the proposed vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| EQV | Electric passenger MPV; one Executive Long reference here | Seven-seat brochure scope, luggage with passengers and charging schedule |
| V-Class | Passenger-MPV alternative when charging is the unresolved issue | Actual seating, body length and powertrain; do not transfer EQV electric tax |
| Volkswagen ID. Buzz | Alternative electric passenger layout | Seat configuration, bags and charging on its own model-year evidence |
These are passenger comparisons. Commercial conversions and their tax treatment are outside this page. No range figure is transferred between the three routes.
IVF’s captured description is EQV 300 150 kW Executive Long 90 kWh five-door automatic. The UK brochure is effective from May 2026 production, with information dated 11 June 2026. It provides a seven-seat package, a 150 kW motor and stated 90 kWh battery capacity for its reference. Ask the quotation to identify the production version and original equipment; the name alone does not establish that every catalogue vehicle is this latest specification.
The brochure’s WLTP range reference is 222 miles for Executive Long. That is a laboratory comparison figure for the named version, not the distance you should plan to cover with every passenger and bag aboard in winter. Match model year, wheels and equipment to the supplied vehicle, then build an operating margin around the actual route. Motorway speed, cabin heating, temperature, terrain and load can all change the result.
The current UK dimension drawing gives 5,140 mm overall length and 2,244 mm width including mirrors. Those measurements make home parking, workplace access and narrow entrances worth checking before the test drive. They do not establish the luggage space left behind your chosen seat positions. Ask to see the seats arranged for your regular passengers, and check the bags with the tailgate closed rather than relying on a maximum-volume illustration.
Mercedes-Benz’s May 2026 technical table gives a 10-80% DC charging benchmark of 45 minutes using 110 kW equipment. It also gives 10 hours from 10-100% on an 11 kW AC wallbox. These apply to the brochure’s EQV 300 reference and stated test conditions; verify the quoted vehicle’s charging specification. Neither figure means every public stop or home installation will reproduce the result, and the two intervals are not directly interchangeable.
For an overnight routine, establish the actual electrical supply, charger output and parking permissions at the place the EQV will stand. The brochure’s 11 kW AC example must not be assumed on a lower-powered installation. Ask a qualified installer to assess the premises and equipment. For shared workplace charging, check who controls the bay and whether the vehicle will reliably be plugged in long enough before its next passenger journey.
The current Executive Long brochure specifies a three-seat comfort bench and two individual rear seats as part of its seven-seat package, in addition to the front pair. Broader Mercedes-Benz pages describe up to eight seats in the wider EQV and V-Class ranges, but that does not establish eight seats in this particular UK listing. If the passenger count is essential, have the approved total and actual seat arrangement recorded before progressing.
Load the items that make your journeys distinctive: suitcases for group travel, pushchairs, sports bags or work equipment carried with the passengers. Keep luggage secure and respect the actual loading limits. The brochure lists a 3,500 kg permitted gross vehicle weight, but the usable allowance depends on the exact car, equipment and occupants. Do not turn a headline capacity or a simple subtraction into a promised payload for the proposed agreement.
Ask which driver-assistance and parking equipment is included on the specific vehicle. The current Executive Long brochure describes a parking package with a 360-degree camera, but that remains a production-specification claim to match, not an automatic promise for any listing. Test the view from the driving position and the camera’s usefulness in your real parking environment. Cameras assist a manoeuvre; they do not alter the vehicle’s physical dimensions.
The EQV brochure describes battery warranty cover to eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to its terms and registration basis. Confirm the actual warranty document and start date, and separate it from routine servicing, tyre cover and any maintenance package. For a business, also establish how charging payments and mileage records will be handled. Clear responsibilities make a shared passenger vehicle easier to operate throughout the agreement.
The EQV here is a battery-electric passenger MPV. For a qualifying passenger company car with private use, its zero tailpipe emissions lead to the electric-car percentage path; do not substitute a commercial-vehicle benefit because it has a large body.
For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.
The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission electric car | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

The checked route has one EQV 300 150 kW Executive Long 90 kWh automatic reference. Confirm production version and supply before relying on it. A single catalogue entry does not establish stock or alternative seating packages.
Assess it around the staff passenger load, luggage and a reliable charging routine. The passenger-car tax rules need the actual vehicle documents. Confirm responsibilities for charging and mileage records before a business agreement is selected.
Yes, use a brief covering your regular passengers, bags, parking access, annual mileage and charging locations. The adviser can then check the listed specification and applicable personal agreement terms, subject to status and availability.
Mercedes-Benz’s May 2026 UK Executive Long brochure specifies a seven-seat package. Wider range material mentions other configurations, but that does not establish eight seats in the IVF entry. Confirm the actual approved seating layout.
The May 2026 UK Executive Long reference is 222 miles WLTP. Match the offered model year, wheels and equipment first. Weather, speed, heating and passenger load affect actual range, so use an appropriate journey margin.
No. The UK brochure’s EQV 300 benchmark is 10-80% in 45 minutes on 110 kW DC equipment. It is not empty-to-full, and the actual vehicle, charger output and battery conditions must support the comparison.
Only consider that May 2026 EQV benchmark in its stated context: 10-100% at 11 kW AC. A lower-powered home supply can take longer. Verify the vehicle, installation and available charging window with suitable professional advice.
They are related passenger-MPV choices, but the EQV requires a workable electric charging routine. Compare the separate V-Class if that is unresolved, and verify seating and luggage on each rather than transferring specifications.
For a qualifying zero-emission company car the published percentages are 4%, 5%, 7% and 9% from 2026/27 to 2029/30. Apply them to its actual P11D and your tax circumstances, not to the lease payment.
No. The checked UK brochure states eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, with conditions. Match the supplied vehicle’s warranty and first-registration date to your term and mileage; maintenance cover is separate.
