Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you choose Peugeot 208 business or personal leasing across petrol, hybrid and electric versions. The right starting point is your charging access and driving pattern, followed by cabin fit and equipment. Match the quotation to the exact powertrain, model year and trim before comparing agreements.
The 208 suits a driver looking for a compact hatchback rather than a taller SUV. Its unusually broad powertrain choice is the main reason to pause before choosing a trim. A private driver without convenient charging might compare petrol and hybrid. A business driver with regular charging may start with E-208 and its different company-car tax treatment. Neither route is automatically right because of the badge on the bonnet; the weekly journey pattern decides what deserves a closer look.
The compact format also needs a proper cabin test. Adjust the seat and steering wheel until you can see the instruments comfortably, then check the view at junctions and when reversing. Ask another regular driver to do the same. If passenger access or the height of the boot opening is the reason for changing cars, compare the 2008 before committing to the 208's hatchback format. A smaller footprint is useful only when the car still fits the people using it.
Peugeot 208 and two alternative starting points
| Model | Start here when | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Peugeot 208 | Compact hatchback with several powertrain paths | Driving position and exact petrol, hybrid or electric derivative |
| Peugeot 2008 | A taller Peugeot body is part of the requirement | Access, boot shape and the matched powertrain |
| Vauxhall Corsa | Another compact hatchback to try directly | Your seating comfort and equipment on the quoted version |
These are different vehicle choices, not a specification or availability ranking. Compare the exact quoted versions with your normal passengers and luggage.
As checked on 28 September 2026, Peugeot UK lists Turbo 100 with a six-speed manual and Hybrid 110 or Hybrid 145 with a six-speed automatic. Its range also includes the all-electric E-208. IVF's grid carries petrol PureTech labels beside Turbo labels, several hybrid entries and electric entries with different power and battery descriptions. Do not treat those abbreviated catalogue names as interchangeable model years or use a current specification sheet to fill gaps in an older entry.
Peugeot's current trim list includes Style, Allure, Envy, GT and GT Premium. The live page also has an Active label, so request an exact model-year and equipment confirmation if that entry interests you. An NI suffix should be clarified for the intended location and offer; it is not a feature package. The practical instruction is simple: identify the precise car behind a row before making assumptions about equipment, emissions or eligibility for a particular quotation.
The 208 Hybrid is not a plug-in hybrid. Its small battery works within the petrol-electric system and you do not connect it to a charger. It still uses petrol and does not take the zero-emission company-car band. Compare it with the manual petrol car on your normal route, especially if slow traffic is common, and look at the quoted emissions rather than the word hybrid alone.
E-208 requires a different plan. Work out where the car will charge overnight, how often that space is available and what happens when a workday runs longer than expected. If you depend on public charging, include the travel, waiting time and tariff in your decision. IVF lists different electric battery and motor labels; confirm the battery, charger capability and supplied cables for the actual car. A headline range from another E-208 version is not a useful planning figure.
Peugeot UK has announced that orders are open for the electric E-208 GTi, and IVF lists a GTi electric entry. That makes it relevant to this model page, but it should not be blended into the ordinary E-208 comparison. A performance-focused choice needs its own insurance quotation and a closer look at seats, wheels, tyres and the way you intend to use the car. Its presence in a grid does not establish a delivery date.
If the GTi is the version you want, name it at the start of the enquiry. Ask for its exact UK specification and the maintenance treatment of its fitted tyres, rather than assuming a standard E-208 quotation applies. If you simply want an electric hatchback for work and local journeys, decide that brief first. A different power output or a more dramatic appearance should not replace the checks on charging access, rear seating and the agreement you actually need.
Peugeot's current UK guidance distinguishes the boot capacities of petrol/hybrid and electric versions. That is a useful reminder that sharing a body name does not make every practical detail identical. Bring a normal work bag and any larger item that travels regularly, then check it with the rear seats in use. A seat-folded capacity tells you little about the school run, a colleague travelling to a meeting or a weekend when passengers and luggage must share the car.
Try the infotainment and climate controls while parked. Confirm phone compatibility with your handset and learn the assistance settings on the quoted trim. If you use unfamiliar car parks regularly, check the actual camera and sensor equipment rather than assuming GT-style exterior features imply a specific parking system.
For a business, agree who will drive and whether private use is allowed before comparing the employee tax position. For a private driver, forecast mileage from a normal working month plus the longer trips that are easy to forget. Keep the calculation separate from the manufacturer's range or consumption claims.
The E-208 and 208 Hybrid have fundamentally different benefit calculations. The electric car uses the zero-emission path below. For petrol and non-plug-in hybrid cars, use their certified CO2 band. These examples show the distinction without assigning one percentage to the entire 208 grid or treating a hybrid as a plug-in model.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission E-208 | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| Petrol/hybrid certified at 95-99 g/km | 25% | 25% | 26% | 27% |
| Petrol/hybrid certified at 115-119 g/km | 29% | 29% | 30% | 31% |
For private use by an employee or director, P11D value multiplied by the appropriate percentage normally gives the taxable benefit. Personal tax depends on the individual’s income-tax rate and adjustments. Sole traders follow different rules. Confirm the exact car’s documents; these are conditional bands, not rates assigned to every listing.
Sources checked 28 September 2026: HMRC 2026/27 and 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes and our company-car BiK guide. Tax depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). The 2026/27 standard annual VED payment after year one is £200, before any supplement. First-year tax depends on CO2; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later annual cash rates are not confirmed here. Check how the funder handles increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. In 2026/27 the supplement is £440 annually for five years from the second licence. It applies above £40,000 list price for petrol/hybrid cars, or £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Include relevant options and ignore discounts. Check GOV.UK and the exact car’s registration.
Planned eVED. From April 2028 the government plans 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids, alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation. CPI uprating is planned from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Check the eVED response and the funder’s treatment. This charge is not currently in force.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Peugeot leasing, Peugeot 2008, Vauxhall Corsa, company-car tax guide, business car leasing to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Ask for a business quotation on the exact petrol, hybrid or electric derivative. For a company car available privately, E-208 follows the zero-emission BiK path while petrol and non-plug-in hybrid versions use their certified CO2 bands. Confirm P11D value and the tax years covered; the business rental is a separate part of the decision.
IVF can discuss a personal contract-hire quotation around the version and mileage you need, subject to status and funder criteria. Start with charging access and cabin suitability, then choose equipment. The vehicle is returned at the end of contract hire, so consider return conditions and possible charges alongside the driving experience.
No. The current 208 Hybrid uses a petrol-electric system without external charging. It is different from E-208, which is fully electric. The hybrid still has CO2-based company-car taxation and petrol running costs; a hybrid badge does not give it the tax treatment or charging requirements of the electric version.
IVF lists electric derivatives carrying different battery and motor descriptions. Match the exact row to its UK model-year specification before comparing driving range or charging. Battery labels, power output, wheels and equipment can distinguish versions, so do not apply one manufacturer's headline to every E-208 listed on the route.
Yes. Peugeot UK has announced orders open for its electric GTi and the IVF grid includes a GTi entry. Treat it as a separate performance specification within the 208 family. Confirm UK equipment, insurance, tyres and supply timing in writing; neither the launch announcement nor the listing promises an available car.
Peugeot's current UK page quotes 352 litres for petrol and hybrid versions and 309 litres for E-208 with the rear seats up. These are manufacturer measurements, not a promise that a particular object fits. Check the supplied version and try your normal luggage with the seats needed for passengers left in use.
The current Peugeot UK petrol and hybrid page lists Style, Allure, Envy, GT and GT Premium. IVF also carries older catalogue labels, so confirm the model year and powertrain before comparing equipment. Make a short list of the features you use daily and check them explicitly instead of relying on the trim's name.
Include the 2008 if a taller body and passenger access are important to you. Test the actual seating and luggage arrangements rather than assuming an SUV is automatically more suitable. The 208 remains a compact hatchback choice, and its smaller format may fit your parking and daily journeys better.
A qualifying zero-emission E-208 follows the published 4%, 5%, 7% and 9% BiK path from 2026/27 through 2029/30. Those percentages determine taxable benefit using the relevant P11D value; they are not the employee's income-tax rate or a percentage of the lease rental. Confirm individual treatment with your accountant.
Tell IVF whether you want petrol, hybrid, standard electric or GTi, plus the trim, annual mileage and must-have equipment. For E-208, explain charging access and typical longer journeys. Ask for the exact model year and specification on the written quotation so a change of vehicle is not mistaken for a change of contract terms.
