Peugeot’s range can answer very different household and business tasks. A 208 is a compact hatchback; 308 SW offers an estate load area; 5008 adds a third row; Traveller can accommodate a larger group in the right configuration. Decide which task is yours before comparing a familiar Allure or GT badge across unrelated bodies.
For a staff-car or private-family enquiry, give IVF the required passenger count, typical luggage, parking dimensions and charging access. An equipment upgrade can change the practical result rather than simply improve it: some Traveller layouts prioritise individual comfort over the maximum number of seats. The quotation should retain the exact body, generation and seating description alongside mileage, term and maintenance, with the supplied vehicle and funder confirmed separately.

| Model line | Body and powertrain | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| 208 / E-208 | Compact hatchback; petrol, Hybrid or electric | Check the actual motor and battery, not just Allure or GT. |
| 2008 / E-2008 | Compact SUV; several energy choices | Compare higher access and luggage with 208. |
| 308 / SW / E-308 | Hatchback or estate; mixed powertrains | Specify SW and the generation before comparing battery or boot. |
| 3008 / E-3008 | Five-seat SUV | A shorter body than 5008 when a third row is unnecessary. |
| 5008 / E-5008 | Seven-seat family SUV | Choose required seats before battery and driven wheels. |
| 408 / E-408 | Fastback-style body; Hybrid, plug-in and electric | Use the matching energy specification and load opening. |
| 508 | Retained saloon or SW plug-in catalogue route | UK factory-order status needs confirmation for the identified car. |
| Rifter / E-Rifter | Passenger carrier; Long and WAV entries | Check final usable seats and any conversion. |
| Traveller / E-Traveller | Larger passenger carrier | Filter by six, seven, eight or nine seats and body length. |
A live catalogue route is not an allocation or delivery promise. Rows marked as legacy or announced keep their stated status; confirm the exact UK car and agreement before commitment.
The current 3008 is 4,542 mm long with five seats. The 4,791 mm 5008 adds 249 mm and a third row, including the relevant electric versions. Judge the load remaining behind the occupied seats. Folding the third row produces a different passenger configuration, so the resulting cargo volume cannot answer a seven-person holiday brief.
Traveller needs an even more explicit seat count. Saved catalogue descriptions include nine-seat Combi, eight-seat Active and Allure with six, seven or eight seats, in Standard or Long bodies. Specify that layout before comparing equipment. Rifter Long provides a separate seven-seat passenger-carrier enquiry, while WAV entries require the converter’s final wheelchair position, restraints, remaining seats and luggage. For lower-bodied alternatives, compare 308 SW with 408 and any specifically identified remaining 508. The retained 508 route includes Hybrid 225 GT descriptions. Current UK factory-order status is unconfirmed here; the route does not establish a continuing production programme or available car.
Hybrid and plug-in hybrid are different descriptions within the Peugeot range. A non-plug-in Hybrid uses petrol without requiring an external charger. A plug-in needs regular charging if its rechargeable electrical capability is to contribute usefully to daily journeys. Pure-electric E-models depend on charging and use the zero-emission company-car schedule rather than a petrol-emissions band.
The 308 route combines hatchback and estate descriptions and several generations of petrol, diesel, plug-in and electric entries. Grand electric-range headlines should not be assigned to every older battery label. Likewise, E-5008’s 73 kWh and 97 kWh descriptions and different motor layouts require separate comparisons. Choose body and passenger needs first, then identify the precise UK battery or engine, transmission and driven wheels that will be supplied.
An SME choosing Peugeot staff cars can start with practical categories: compact commuter, estate load carrier, seven-seat family company car or larger passenger transport. E-308 SW may answer a different job from E-5008 despite both being electric. Rifter and Traveller also need exact passenger classification and any conversion details before ordinary company-car rules are applied.
Where the car is available privately to a director or employee, use its own P11D and certification across every tax year in the agreement. Petrol Hybrid and plug-in versions do not inherit the E-model percentage. The company’s VAT recovery, rental deductions and servicing arrangement are separate from the driver’s tax. Give IVF a consistent passenger and mileage brief so the funder proposals can be compared on a meaningful basis.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit makes the driving-position check particularly worthwhile. Adjust the seat and steering wheel for yourself, check your view of the displays, and then assess rear space behind that position. Comparing 208 with 2008 should involve access and the real load, not simply assuming that a taller body is the more useful household car.
For 308 SW, try the estate opening with the equipment or pushchair you regularly carry. For 5008, decide how often all seven seats will be occupied and what must travel behind them. Larger groups should examine Traveller’s actual layout rather than a trim photograph. Personal Contract Hire is assessed against household mileage and costs, so include insurance, energy, maintenance choices and likely holiday use alongside the written hire terms.
Peugeot's range allows a useful household trial before choosing a body. Ask each regular driver to adjust the seat and steering wheel, then check that the instruments remain clearly visible in their normal posture. Repeat the exercise with the child seats and luggage that usually travel together. Compare a 308 SW with a 3008 using those tasks rather than assuming the taller vehicle will be easier. Where grandparents or colleagues regularly occupy the third row, include them in a 5008 access check. A seven-seat label answers capacity; it does not decide whether that particular seating arrangement suits your passengers.
These rows are tax classifications, not a rate assigned to every model. Electric rates apply to a zero-emission company car available privately. A PHEV electric-mile interval is a conditional HMRC threshold, not a certified range claim for a listed car. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, CO2, registration details, certified electric range where relevant and any qualifying transitional treatment with your accountant. The road-cost discussion below concerns ordinary passenger cars; other vehicle classifications need separate advice.
For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.
The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission electric | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| Petrol/hybrid, 120–124 g/km | 30% | 30% | 31% | 32% |
| Qualifying PHEV, 1–50 g/km, certified electric range 40–69 miles | 10% | 11% | 18% | 19% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Peugeot. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
The electric-mile figures above are HMRC band thresholds, not promises of this car’s driving range. Newer plug-in hybrid certification can show more than 50 g/km. A temporary company-car easement may treat an eligible car as 1 g/km where the registration date, electric range and Euro-status conditions are met; it is not automatic and must not be transferred to lease-rental deductions. Check the vehicle documents and HMRC’s plug-in hybrid conditions with your accountant.
Retained tax illustrations from the 10 September 2026 catalogue snapshot: a full year at 40% income tax, without employee contributions or other adjustments. These are dated examples for different cars, not current quotations, employer costs or a claim of overall savings. Obtain current P11D and certification for your supplied vehicle.
| Recorded derivative | P11D | Recorded tax basis | BiK | Annual tax at 40% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 208 100kW Allure 50kWh 5dr Auto | £24,930.00 | Zero-emission electric | 4% | £398.88 |
| 208 1.2 PureTech 100 GT Premium 5dr | £28,300.00 | 121 g/km | 30% | £3,396.00 |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Ask IVF for the exact Peugeot vehicle details to take to your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
For the current E-308 Allure, the UK guide gives up to 279 miles WLTP combined as a hatchback and 275 miles as SW, using 55 kWh usable and 58 kWh gross capacity. The quoted 20–80% charge is 30 minutes at 100 kW DC. These newer specifications do not describe older 54 kWh-labelled entries. Current E-408’s checked 58 kWh version is rated at up to 280 miles WLTP with a 20–80% benchmark of 30 minutes at 100 kW; those figures do not apply to Hybrid or plug-in 408.
Current electric Allure 3008 and 5008 with 73 kWh usable batteries are quoted at up to 326 and 309 miles WLTP combined respectively. Each has a 20–80% benchmark of 30 minutes using 160 kW DC. Keep the model, body, year, motors, grade and wheels attached to those numbers. Weather, speed, load, starting charge and battery or charger conditions affect the real journey; longer-range and dual-motor catalogue variants need their own matching data.
Peugeot Care combines the standard three-year manufacturer warranty with up to five years of additional special cover for eligible vehicles. The UK programme identifies current electric passenger models and is activated through qualifying scheduled servicing at a participating Peugeot retailer. Coverage runs to the next service and is subject to an overall eight-year or 100,000-mile limit, whichever comes first, with eligibility and exclusions.
It must not be described as eight years of unconditional cover across petrol, Hybrid and electric Peugeots. Peugeot Care itself does not include roadside assistance. Confirm the actual car’s standard warranty, battery terms and programme eligibility, then compare optional lease maintenance separately. Scheduled services, tyres and return damage remain distinct costs, and the service arrangement should suit the locations where you will actually use the car.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use business car leasing, personal contract hire, company-car tax guide, VAT on business leasing, request a callback, electric car leasing, Business Contract Hire, Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer, Mazda CX-80, FRC accounting changes, HMRC car-hire deductions, IVF customer feedback on Feefo to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Ready to compare your Peugeot options? Send your mileage, required equipment and timing.
Begin with body, seats and propulsion, then align term, mileage and maintenance. A 308 SW estate, seven-seat 5008 and nine-seat Traveller are different transport propositions. Confirm the actual generation and complete written terms before comparing the commitment.
E-308 SW is the estate route to investigate. Specify SW rather than hatchback and confirm the supplied battery generation. Current 58 kWh gross data does not describe every older 54 kWh-labelled electric listing.
The checked current electric 5008 is a seven-seat family SUV. Confirm the exact fitted layout and assess luggage with all required seats raised. Its battery, motors and wheels still need matching before applying any charging or range figure.
No. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid descriptions identify different systems. Establish whether the car needs external charging and use its actual certified emissions and electric-range information for the appropriate company-car assessment.
Start with a Traveller entry explicitly specifying nine seats, such as the retained Combi configuration. Other Traveller versions have fewer seats. Confirm the final UK layout and Standard or Long body, including room for everyone’s luggage.
Do not assume that. The completed conversion determines wheelchair position, restraints, passenger seats and luggage. Ask for the converter’s exact layout and classification before comparing it with an ordinary seven-seat Rifter Long.
Current UK factory-order status is not confirmed by the retained 508 route. Use it to enquire about an identified new vehicle, with the actual body, registration and supply checked. Compare current 308 SW or 408 where they meet the same requirement.
No. It is conditional service-activated special cover for eligible electric models, following the standard warranty and limited by age, mileage and exclusions. Qualifying servicing at a participating retailer activates cover to the next service.
Peugeot Care itself excludes roadside assistance. Ask separately about any applicable assistance benefit and optional lease maintenance. Manufacturer fault cover does not replace routine servicing, tyres or the funder’s return conditions.
IVF can assess both routes subject to status and funder criteria. State who takes the agreement, passenger requirements, mileage and charging access. The accountant should assess business VAT and any private-use benefit using the precise vehicle.
