Your Renault Captur leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Renault Captur petrol and full-hybrid leasing for business or personal use. The current UK range offers TCe 115 manual and E-Tech full hybrid 160 automatic versions. Choose the driving routine first, then test the sliding rear bench, luggage space and exact equipment before discussing terms.

Captur leasing: a compact SUV with a flexible cabin

Captur is worth considering when you want a raised small-car format but need to vary how the rear cabin and boot are used. A private driver might alternate between passengers and weekend bags; a business driver may need room for colleagues on some days and work equipment on others. The sliding rear bench makes that trade-off tangible rather than merely theoretical.

Moving the bench forward increases luggage space by reducing rear room. Test behind the normal driver position before using the largest boot figure. Seven seats or bulky regular loads require another brief.

Renault Captur leasing: key facts

  • Renault’s UK range and July 2026 brochure list TCe 115 petrol and E-Tech full hybrid 160; the hybrid does not plug in.
  • The current petrol is manual and the full hybrid automatic; specify the gearbox as well as the grade.
  • Renault UK lists five seats and a rear bench that slides by 16cm, trading passenger space against luggage capacity.
  • Current grade names are Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine; the exact engine and equipment combination needs confirmation.
  • Renault’s current passenger-car warranty is three years: unlimited mileage in the first 24 months, then a 60,000-mile total limit for petrol and hybrid cars.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

Current UK engines versus retained catalogue entries

Renault’s UK material checked on 28 September 2026 and its brochure dated 1 July 2026 list TCe 115 petrol and E-Tech full hybrid 160. The live IVF route contains eight rows, including these current descriptions and two older TCe 90 entries. The older entries must be identified by actual model year and availability rather than described as today’s new manufacturer range.

Current grade names are Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine. Ask for the exact engine-grade combination, transmission and equipment schedule in the quotation. If a proposed car differs from the version demonstrated, compare the differences explicitly. A change from an older TCe description to a current one can alter more than the badge on the order form.

TCe petrol or E-Tech full hybrid: what changes?

TCe 115 is the current manual petrol option in Renault’s UK material. It deserves consideration when that familiar driving routine fits the user. E-Tech full hybrid 160 uses an automatic system and manages petrol and electric power without an external charging connection. A requirement for an automatic is therefore an early selection criterion, rather than a detail to leave until quoting.

The full hybrid is not a battery-electric Captur and does not promise a complete commute without fuel. Try its response when pulling away, braking, joining a main road and travelling uphill. If several drivers share the car, each should understand the controls. Compare fuel use through representative journeys, without treating test-cycle figures as a guaranteed personal outcome.

Understand the sliding bench and boot measurements

Renault describes 16cm of rear-bench travel. Its headline luggage figure is conditional on moving that bench forward, and petrol and full-hybrid capacities differ. The exact measurement method also matters: liquid-litre and block-based measurements should not be mixed in a comparison. Ask to see the seating position associated with a quoted figure.

Set up the cabin with the actual driver and rear passengers first, then load your bags. For a child-seat installation, check whether moving the bench remains practical and permitted with that seat fitted. If your normal load only fits by compromising passenger comfort, the larger headline capacity is not solving the everyday task you need the car to perform.

Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine need a feature brief

Choose a grade by the controls, visibility and comfort equipment that matter to the driver. Renault’s current material distinguishes the connected-system offering across versions, so do not assume every Captur has every Google-based feature shown in advertising. Ask which functions are included, what requires an account and whether any service has a time-limited subscription.

Pair your phone and try navigation and temperature controls while parked. Confirm wheels and tyres, then assess ride comfort on a familiar type of road.

Check parking, visibility and family access together

Captur’s compact SUV format may be useful for a mixed urban routine, but test the actual parking sequence. Check the mirror clearance at your entrance, the space to open doors and the rear view with passengers aboard. A camera and sensor demonstration should use the equipment fitted to the intended grade, not a different car’s optional pack.

Try child-seat loading without disturbing the driver’s position, then check the tailgate with your usual luggage. Fit in a parking bay and convenient family access are different tests.

Compare Captur with Clio and Symbioz

Clio is a useful comparison when the raised body and sliding-seat flexibility are not necessary for your journeys. It can answer a different small-car task, so test the seating position and access rather than expecting a shorter version of the same interior. Compare the actual model year and engine, particularly if catalogue names differ between pages.

Investigate Symbioz when Captur’s seating and luggage arrangement is insufficient. Test the same load rather than assuming related designs offer equivalent space.

Warranty and handover: confirm the model year

Renault’s current warranty page states three years for passenger cars, with unlimited mileage during the first 24 months and a 60,000-mile total limit thereafter for petrol and hybrid models. Earlier registration periods can have different terms. Obtain the relevant documents for the specific TCe or E-Tech car, especially when an older catalogue description forms the basis of the quotation.

At handover, demonstrate bench locking and assistance settings. Verify engine, grade, accessories and model year. Keep maintenance responsibilities separate from warranty, and review any proposed specification change.

Renault Captur company-car tax across the lease

Captur’s full-hybrid badge does not confer an electric-car tax band. The captured grid includes 97g/km for hybrid and 130g/km for current petrol, while the July 2026 manufacturer brochure quotes hybrid emissions from 99g/km. Both need supplied-car certification. The examples below are conditional bands, not assigned rates for every grade.

The taxable benefit for an employee or director with private use normally starts with the supplied vehicle’s P11D value and the appropriate annual percentage. Apply the driver’s income tax position separately. A business’s hire payments are a different calculation; sole traders need advice on their own circumstances.

Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For cars first registered on or after 1 April 2017, the standard annual VED payment after year one is £200 in 2026/27, before any supplement. First-year liability follows the actual CO2 and registration rules. Earlier registrations use their applicable regime. These cash rates are not a forecast for later years; confirm how the funder handles changes.

Expensive Car Supplement. For a petrol or hybrid car, a list price above £40,000 can trigger the supplement for five years from the second licence. It is £440 a year in 2026/27, additional to standard VED. Use the relevant list price including options and check registration date; a discounted quotation does not change the threshold. Later cash amounts are unconfirmed. Check GOV.UK’s vehicle-tax tables.

Planned eVED. The planned mileage charge from April 2028 covers electric cars at 3p per mile and plug-in hybrids at 1.5p per mile, alongside VED. The Renault Captur petrol or non-plug-in hybrid specification discussed here is outside those proposed categories. The proposal is subject to legislation and implementation, with CPI uprating planned from 2029/30. Recheck final rules if choosing an alternative powertrain. Read the government’s response.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Renault Captur leasing questions

Is the current Renault Captur a hybrid?

Renault UK currently offers both TCe 115 petrol and E-Tech full hybrid 160. The full hybrid is automatic and does not plug in; the current petrol described in this pack is manual. Specify engine and gearbox at the start of an enquiry rather than assuming every Captur is hybrid.

Does Captur E-Tech need a charger?

No. The current E-Tech full hybrid 160 manages petrol and electric power without an external charging connection. It still needs petrol and follows certified CO2 company-car bands. Do not confuse it with a battery-electric Renault or an older plug-in product using related branding.

Why does IVF still show TCe 90?

The captured grid retains two TCe 90 entries alongside TCe 115 and full hybrid 160 descriptions. Those older catalogue rows need model-year and supply confirmation. They are not presented here as proof that Renault UK currently lists TCe 90 in its new manufacturer range.

How does Captur’s sliding rear bench work for luggage?

Renault describes 16cm of travel, allowing a trade-off between rear legroom and boot space. The largest luggage claim assumes a particular bench position and differs between petrol and hybrid. Test with the required passengers seated; a headline capacity is not automatically available with everyone comfortable.

Are petrol and full-hybrid boot figures the same?

No. Renault’s current material gives different capacities and explains the bench-position and measurement basis. Compare like-for-like figures only, then try your actual load. This page avoids transferring the petrol’s largest quoted capacity to every E-Tech full-hybrid derivative.

Which Captur grades are current in the UK?

Renault lists Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine in the current UK material reviewed here. Confirm the engine-grade combination and model year in the quotation. Connected functions, wheels and other equipment need the correct specification sheet rather than an assumption based on a demonstrator.

Should I compare Captur with Symbioz?

Yes, if the Captur passenger-and-luggage arrangement does not quite meet your regular needs. Test the same occupants and bags in each. Symbioz has its own vehicle task and specifications; its dimensions, equipment and tax data should not be borrowed to describe Captur.

What warranty applies to a new Captur?

Renault’s current petrol and hybrid passenger-car cover is three years, unlimited mileage in the first 24 months and a 60,000-mile total limit thereafter. Conditions apply. Check the registration-specific booklet and servicing obligations, as older cars can fall under earlier warranty terms.

Does full hybrid give Captur the electric BiK percentage?

No. Captur full hybrid follows its certified CO2, not the zero-emission percentage. The live grid and current manufacturer material can differ in exact CO2 figures, so obtain the supplied car’s certificate and P11D before calculating the driver’s tax for each year of the agreement.

What should I include in a Captur lease enquiry?

Tell IVF which gearbox and powertrain you prefer, who travels in the rear, the luggage you carry and your annual mileage. Identify essential grade features and timing. Compare written offers using the same term, initial rental, maintenance and VAT basis, with exact model-year and supply confirmation.
