Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Skoda Kamiq business and personal leasing around a compact petrol SUV brief. Choose the engine and gearbox for your journeys, then the equipment you will use. Check passenger access, luggage and company-car tax before asking for a quotation on a specific derivative.
The Kamiq is worth considering when you want the shape and seating approach of an SUV without starting with a large family model. It makes a different shortlist from a seven-seat vehicle or a battery-electric company car. Begin with everyday access: getting in outside your home, helping a passenger into the back and opening the tailgate in your regular parking space. Those are better reasons to choose this format than an assumption that every SUV offers the same room.
Skoda Kamiq and two alternative starting points
| Model | Start here when | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Skoda Kamiq | A compact petrol SUV for mixed everyday journeys | Engine output, gearbox and the exact Edition equipment |
| Skoda Scala | A hatchback comparison for similar everyday tasks | Seating position and how your luggage fits |
| Skoda Karoq | More substantial passenger and luggage requirements | Parking space and the precise engine choice |
These are different vehicle choices, not a specification or availability ranking. Compare the exact quoted versions with your normal passengers and luggage.
Skoda UK's range checked on 28 September 2026 lists SE Edition, Design Edition, SE L Edition and Monte Carlo Edition. The engine choice is petrol: 1.0 TSI in two outputs and 1.5 TSI. IVF's page has entries across those four trims, including manual and DSG derivatives. Some catalogue titles simply say 1.0 TSI without printing the output. Ask for the power figure and gearbox together so that a shortened label does not become your specification.
The live grid is useful for opening a discussion and shows the rental context. It is not confirmation that every combination can be supplied on the same terms or timetable. Put the model year, engine, transmission, paint and essential options into the enquiry. Do not apply equipment from a Monte Carlo Edition photograph to an SE Edition quotation, or assume a trim name fixes every feature across production changes.
The 95 PS 1.0 TSI is a manual choice in Skoda's UK table. Selected 116 PS and 150 PS versions have DSG options. If traffic dominates your commute, try the automatic at crawling speed, in reverse and on the incline where you normally park. If you prefer a manual, test the clutch and gearshift on the same kind of route. These are personal fit checks, not a claim that either transmission is better for everyone.
The larger petrol engine is a separate decision from styling. Regularly carrying adults, joining fast roads and driving on hills may change what you want from the car, but those needs do not establish that a particular output is essential. Try the relevant versions with a representative load. Ask the adviser to keep term and mileage consistent between quotations, then compare the changed engine's rental, insurance and certified emissions rather than looking at power alone.
SE Edition, Design Edition, SE L Edition and Monte Carlo Edition are not four different sizes of car. Decide whether your priorities are easier parking, seat comfort, lighting, cabin appearance or a particular assistance feature. Skoda's current range page describes heated front seats and front and rear parking sensors for SE L Edition, while the design-focused versions have their own styling treatment. Verify those items against the supplied model year's equipment list before relying on them.
A practical demonstration is more useful than a long options wish list. Pair your own phone, set a destination, find the heating controls and check the view behind you from your normal seating position. Try the seat adjustment with the clothes and footwear you normally drive in. For a shared company vehicle, have more than one intended driver do this; a setting that suits the main user may not work for a colleague.
Use the front seat in its normal position before assessing rear legroom. Bring the child seat, work case, mobility equipment or pushchair that determines whether the car works. Check the door opening and the effort needed to lift luggage over the loading edge. A boot-volume headline cannot show whether your particular case fits below the load cover, whether a folded seat leaves the shape you need, or whether you can reach the remaining luggage easily.
If the same journey often needs passengers and bulky equipment together, compare the larger Karoq rather than assuming the Kamiq's SUV shape solves it. If your load is modest and passenger access is comfortable, the Scala hatchback is a useful control comparison. Keep the comparison based on your real week. Choosing a bigger body for a rare event can create parking compromises every day, while choosing too little space creates a daily workaround.
Start the drive on an ordinary road, including the junctions, speed changes and parking manoeuvres you repeat. Then add a faster section if that is part of your work. Listen and assess comfort yourself; this guide does not claim first-hand road-test experience or promise a particular ride quality. Check the assistance menus while stationary and understand how the systems alert you. Driver aids support attention and do not take responsibility away from the driver.
A Kamiq company-car decision starts with the actual petrol derivative, not an SUV-wide percentage. The examples below show how adjacent emissions bands change the benefit calculation. They are conditional benchmarks, not an allocation to all 14 catalogue entries; confirm the P11D and certified CO2 on the car being offered.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol car certified at 120-124 g/km | 30% | 30% | 31% | 32% |
| Petrol car certified at 125-129 g/km | 31% | 31% | 32% | 33% |
| Petrol car certified at 130-134 g/km | 32% | 32% | 33% | 34% |
For private use by an employee or director, P11D value multiplied by the appropriate percentage normally gives the taxable benefit. Personal tax depends on the individual’s income-tax rate and adjustments. Sole traders follow different rules. Confirm the exact car’s documents; these are conditional bands, not rates assigned to every listing.
Sources checked 28 September 2026: HMRC 2026/27 and 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes and our company-car BiK guide. Tax depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). The 2026/27 standard annual VED payment after year one is £200, before any supplement. First-year tax depends on CO2; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later annual cash rates are not confirmed here. Check how the funder handles increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. In 2026/27 the supplement is £440 annually for five years from the second licence. It applies above £40,000 list price for petrol/hybrid cars, or £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Include relevant options and ignore discounts. Check GOV.UK and the exact car’s registration.
Planned eVED. The planned April 2028 mileage charge covers electric and plug-in hybrid cars, not this current petrol/non-plug-in hybrid range. It remains subject to legislation and implementation. Read the government’s eVED response.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Skoda leasing, Skoda Scala, Skoda Karoq, company-car tax guide, business car leasing to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Ask IVF to quote a specific Kamiq for the business with the annual mileage, term and equipment required. Where an employee or director can use it privately, the petrol car's certified emissions and P11D value matter for company-car tax. The rental and personal benefit are different calculations, and the agreement remains subject to status and funder criteria.
Personal Contract Hire can suit a private driver who wants to use a Kamiq for an agreed period and return it afterwards. Choose the engine and gearbox for your journeys, then compare the full agreement. Include realistic mileage, maintenance needs and any likely change in passenger requirements rather than choosing purely from a trim badge.
The Skoda UK Kamiq range checked on 28 September 2026 lists petrol TSI engines. Do not interpret DSG as an electric or hybrid powertrain: it identifies the automatic transmission. If charging and electric company-car taxation are central to your decision, ask for a separate electric-model comparison instead of applying those assumptions to the Kamiq.
The UK engine list offers DSG on selected 1.0 TSI 116 PS and 1.5 TSI 150 PS versions. The 95 PS manual is a different choice. IVF's abbreviated titles should be matched to the exact engine output and gearbox in your quotation; an automatic option on one engine does not mean every trim combination is available.
Monte Carlo Edition is a trim choice with its own equipment and styling. It does not automatically mean the largest engine, and IVF lists both 1.0 and 1.5 TSI entries. Separate the appearance you prefer from the engine and features you need, then check the current UK equipment schedule for the precise car offered.
Yes, particularly if you are undecided between an SUV layout and a hatchback. Compare getting in and out, rear seating with the front seats set correctly, and the shape of the boot with your own luggage. The Scala is a different body choice; its suitability cannot be decided by transferring Kamiq dimensions or equipment.
Include it if passenger and luggage needs are driving you towards a larger SUV. Try both rather than assuming the larger model is necessary. Measure your parking space and consider the days when you travel alone as well as the days when every seat and the boot are occupied.
No. A catalogue row is a starting point for checking a particular derivative and quotation, not a stock or delivery promise. Ask IVF to confirm the exact vehicle, registration status, specification and expected timing in writing before arranging the return of an existing vehicle around it.
No. The certified CO2 figure and relevant tax year determine the percentage, with the car's P11D value used in calculating the taxable benefit. Engine, gearbox and equipment can affect the specification. Use the conditional table here with the actual car's documents and ask your accountant to confirm your individual position.
Send the preferred engine, gearbox and trim, your annual mileage and the equipment you cannot do without. Explain whether the agreement is for you or your business and describe any access or luggage requirement. This helps IVF compare the right vehicle and contract rather than a superficially similar listing.
