Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps businesses specify Vauxhall Movano leasing for large loads, specialist bodies and demanding fleet duties. Choose the body and operating weight together, then compare diesel or electric power. Confirm driver entitlement, finished payload, conversion support and the servicing plan before treating a catalogue entry as a complete solution.
Movano is Vauxhall's large commercial van, suited to work that needs substantial load space or a specialist body. For a fleet manager, the first decision is not simply long versus extra-long. It is whether the required finished vehicle can operate within the business's driver entitlements, loading practices, servicing facilities and route constraints. Put those requirements into the brief before comparing powertrains.
Choose Vivaro where a medium body can complete the duty with less space to manage. Choose Movano when the load shape, working height or installed equipment justifies it. A large van can be under-used as well as overloaded: understand the normal job and the peak requirement so that occasional demand does not dictate an unsuitable everyday specification.
Tell us the load, body equipment, drivers and operating area for your Movano so the quotation starts with the correct vehicle category.
| Van | Useful alternative | What the fleet must confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Vauxhall Movano | Prime and Pro equipment with multiple body and weight choices. | Driver entitlement, finished limits and local support. |
| Peugeot Boxer | Related platform with Peugeot body and conversion arrangements. | Exact equipment and responsibility for the completed build. |
| Volkswagen Crafter | A different large-van platform and configuration range. | Whether its layout improves the specific duty. |
Compare equivalent completed vehicles and operating categories, not just similar catalogue names.
Vauxhall's UK Movano guide effective 1 July 2026, model year 2026 (14), lists L3H2 Electric Prime references at both 3.5 tonnes and 4.25 tonnes. The maximum indicative payloads are 730kg and 1,480kg respectively, with the driver included in the guide's definition. These figures illustrate a real specification distinction. They are not two alternative payload claims for the same vehicle.
The catalogue includes 3.5T, Heavy and 4.25T wording. Confirm the actual gross weight, unladen definition and axle ratings rather than assuming a Heavy label means permission to carry a particular load. Fixed shelving, security equipment, auxiliary batteries, additional people and cargo belong in the completed calculation. Keep the weight schedule with the vehicle's operating records.
Where different teams use the van, establish the maximum load for each duty and how it will be distributed. Collections can make the return leg heavier than the outbound trip. A tail-lift or equipment positioned near the rear may also affect axle loading before the overall limit is reached. Have the finished installation assessed rather than relying only on an empty panel-van brochure.
The named guide gives panel floors of 3,120mm for L2, 3,705mm for L3 and 4,070mm for L4. Maximum internal width is 1,870mm, with 1,422mm between the wheel arches. H2 and H3 internal heights are 1,932mm and 2,172mm. Request the exact body drawing for the offered derivative and include the thickness of any lining or insulation.
An L3H2 reference has 13m³ capacity; L3H3 and L4H2 each have 15m³, while L4H3 reaches 17m³. The two 15m³ bodies answer different loading problems. Tall equipment may need the higher roof, while long items may need floor length. Check the clear rear and side openings, because an item can fit inside the compartment but be difficult to get through a doorway.
The external envelope matters to the fleet too. Record the completed height with roof equipment, turning and parking needs, and access to customer sites or workshop bays. Use a representative loading trial where the job involves awkward equipment. Do not assume the biggest body is the safest choice if it introduces avoidable access or handling problems.
Vauxhall UK lists Movano Electric at the 28 September 2026 check. The current guide specifies a 110kWh gross, 97.8kWh net battery and 205kW motor. Its L3H2 range references are 235 miles for the 3.5-tonne version and 263 miles for the 4.25-tonne version, calculated using WLTP methodology. The heavy-vehicle data carries that qualification rather than being presented as an ordinary WLTP approval result.
DC capability is up to 150kW, with a stated 5-80% charging benchmark of approximately 55 minutes in the guide's conditions. The 22kW onboard AC capability needs an appropriate electrical supply. Check whether the depot can replenish all vehicles between shifts, including parking access and connection time. A fleet charging plan should account for a van returning late or a charger being unavailable.
Payload, temperature, motorway speed and auxiliary equipment can change the route result. Use the actual proposed body and equipment when assessing the duty. The diesel catalogue includes 2.2-litre 140 and 180 descriptions with different gearboxes; confirm which combination is offered. An electric or diesel badge does not by itself show whether the van will complete the business's longest practical day.
A Movano above 3,500kg can fall outside the usual lighter-van framework. Driving licence entitlement, operator licensing, drivers' hours, tachograph obligations and the VED category depend on the vehicle and its use. Current exemptions have conditions. Treat compliance as a specific operating check, not an assumption attached to the word electric.
Start with GOV.UK driving licence categories and the goods vehicle operator guidance, checked 28 September 2026. Have the driver's actual entitlement and intended operation reviewed before selecting a heavier derivative. A manufacturer's equipment list or a salesperson's general explanation is not a personal ruling on your business.
The current guide identifies additional N2 equipment, including a tachograph and speed limiter. Fitted equipment still needs appropriate management where the rules apply. Decide who owns the operating checks, records and driver briefing within the business. That responsibility should be clear before a new weight category is introduced to an otherwise lighter-van fleet.
IVF's Prime and Pro entries span panel vans, chassis and crew-chassis formats, platform bodies, dropsides and tippers. Compare a completed specification, including the body builder and equipment, rather than judging all entries as alternative trims of one panel van. Ask which model year and approval stage the quotation covers.
Vauxhall's current conversion material refers to the Stellantis CustomFit framework and technical guidance for body builders. Confirm the specific installer's role, permissions and warranty for your proposed work. Obtain funder consent where required. The finished vehicle needs documented weights, suitable servicing access and a clear route for faults involving both the base vehicle and the installation.
Movano and Peugeot Boxer share related Stellantis large-van architecture. Their UK equipment, support arrangements and individual quotations still need comparison. Volkswagen Crafter provides a different-platform reference when checking whether another body arrangement better suits the duty. Ask the intended workshop about height, weight and conversion capability before relying on the nearest general service location.
Keep the vehicle specification, completed weight record, conversion instructions and service schedule together. Drivers should know the loading limits and how to report a vehicle or body fault. Where electric versions are chosen, include charging equipment, access arrangements and a practical handover demonstration.
Confirm the supplied vehicle warranty and any traction-battery terms, plus separate converter and maintenance cover. Record who authorises repairs and what business continuity arrangement is realistic. A replacement passenger vehicle may provide transport without replacing the Movano's working capacity, so plan around the job that must still be completed.
For 2026/27, qualifying non-zero-emission vans with chargeable private use have a standard £4,170 benefit value. Employer-provided private fuel can generate a separate £798 fuel benefit. These amounts are inputs to taxation, not identical personal tax bills.
A qualifying zero-emission commercial van has nil van benefit under the current 0% of £4,170 calculation. Other vans may meet the business-use exemption, including its conditions for commuting and insignificant private use. Ask the accountant to confirm the treatment of the particular vehicle and operation.
For 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30, refresh the annual van position rather than using car percentage bands or extending this year’s amounts unchanged. GOV.UK benefit values and van-use exemptions checked 28 September 2026.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). GOV.UK lists £360 as the 2026/27 single annual TC39 payment for qualifying light goods vehicles registered from 1 March 2001, up to 3,500kg revenue weight, including electric versions. A heavier Movano needs a separate tax-class check. Confirm the contract’s handling of changes. Read the VED tables; checked 28 September 2026.
Expensive Car Supplement. The car Expensive Car Supplement is not applied to a TC39 Movano from its value alone. Use the completed vehicle’s registration category and current rules.
Planned eVED. Vans and HGVs are excluded from eVED at the planned April 2028 introduction in the July 2026 response. That is the present scope, subject to future policy. See the government’s eVED response.
Van hire VAT must be considered under the business’s normal recovery conditions and actual use. Do not assume the passenger-car rental restriction applies. HMRC Notice 700/64 and IVF’s VAT on van leasing guide provide the framework.
Give your accountant the complete agreement and body-equipment details. Capital allowances, deductions and accounting treatment require their own assessment; the van benefit rule is not a general answer to those questions.
Discuss the vehicle and agreement together. Call 01752 429950 or request a callback with your business requirements.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, crew, loads, towing, fitted equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Ready to narrow the choice? Tell us the body, load, annual mileage and equipment you need.
Choose Movano when the actual load shape, height or specialist installation requires the larger body. If Vivaro can complete the same duty within its limits, compare the practical access and operating implications before moving up.
No. Confirm gross weight, axle limits and the finished payload on the exact derivative. The Heavy description does not replace the technical sheet or the vehicle’s plated limits.
The named UK guide gives each 15m³, but their shapes differ. One prioritises roof height and the other floor length. Check the cargo dimensions and loading openings rather than volume alone.
Yes. Vauxhall UK lists it at the September 2026 check. Confirm the particular body, weight category, battery specification and supply through the quotation process.
No. The guide lists different allowances for those named versions. Apply only the exact derivative’s figures and account for equipment and people using the correct weight definition.
Use the exact vehicle and completed installation on the intended duty, allowing for load, weather, speed and auxiliary demand. The guide’s calculated WLTP-methodology reference is a comparison starting point.
No blanket conclusion should be drawn. Check the actual licence entitlement, vehicle weight, use and current exemptions through GOV.UK guidance before assigning the vehicle.
No. Equipment and legal obligations are different questions. Have the operation assessed and establish responsibility for the records and procedures that apply to it.
They share related architecture, but the supplied UK equipment, converter, dealer support and warranty terms must be compared separately. Use the same finished-body requirement for both quotations.
Keep the agreed specification, finished weights, body instructions, service schedule and warranty contacts. Brief drivers on the working limits, defect reporting and charging arrangements where applicable.
Bring your load, crew, route and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
