Follow the model routes to compare the exact body and powertrain.
Intelligent Vehicle Finance arranges Vauxhall van leasing around the load, people and routes your business needs to cover. Compare compact Combo Cargo, medium Vivaro and larger Movano, with diesel and electric choices. Specify the working body and usable payload first, then confirm the exact derivative, mileage and agreement.
The useful starting point is the equipment that cannot be left behind. A service engineer carrying tools and small replacement parts may be able to work from a Combo. A fitting team needs more room for bulky items and possibly colleagues, pointing towards Vivaro. Movano becomes relevant when a tall or long load, substantial fitted storage or a specialist body determines the vehicle.
This is a range decision before it is a trim decision. Record the largest regular load, its weight, the loading method and the parking restrictions at customer premises. Keeping those four things constant lets you compare quotations without mistaking more standard equipment for more carrying capacity. The catalogue currently groups the three model families; it does not establish that every listed configuration can be supplied immediately.
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways.
| Range and job | Published reference | Decision before quoting |
|---|---|---|
| Combo Cargo | M / XL: 3.3 / 3.9 m³; Electric Prime Plus: 759 / 691 kg indicative payload | Compact tool storage and kerbside access; measure with the intended partition. |
| Vivaro | M / XL panel: 5.3 / 6.1 m³; January 2026 Electric Prime reference: 1,210 / 1,138 kg | Choose cargo or crew body first; different editions and equipment need checking. |
| Movano | Panel bodies: 10-17 m³; July 2026 electric L3H2 Heavy: 730 kg at 3.5T or 1,480 kg at 4.25T | Heavier rating is a separate operating decision, not extra payload on the same licence assumptions. |
Figures describe the named published versions, not the highest capacity of every Vauxhall. They are benchmarks for a conversation about your actual quotation. Driver-weight definitions differ across manufacturers; Vauxhall’s kerb-weight-based indicative payload needs to accommodate the driver as well as other occupants and equipment.
A load-through hatch is useful for a narrow long item, but does not create a full-width extension of the cargo floor. Likewise, removing a crew-seat requirement from the comparison makes a panel van look more capable without answering the original job. Ask for a drawing and weight schedule that reflect the vehicle as it will actually work.
For Combo, make a list of the tool cases and boxes you need to reach without unloading everything. Compare side-door access, shelving depth and the largest item through the rear opening. Moving from M to XL can create useful floor length, but the longer electric example in the guide has a lower indicative payload. Length and carrying weight are separate decisions.
For Vivaro, test the planned shelving with the goods still aboard. A wide object between the wheel arches or a load that needs mechanical handling can dictate the layout more strongly than cubic capacity. For Movano, allow room to secure the load and to operate any handling equipment. A packed demonstration layout is unhelpful if the driver cannot unload safely at the first stop.
Combo Crew Van and Vivaro Doublecab merit a separate calculation with every required passenger seated. The useful cargo area is the part remaining behind the passenger arrangement, not the panel van’s headline volume. Tell IVF how often the full crew travels and whether the same vehicle must carry all its tools. Occasional passenger demand may be better served by a different fleet allocation than permanent extra seats.
Movano also provides a route to chassis-based work. Specify a tipper, dropside or specialist body by completed dimensions, equipment and finished weight. Record who warrants the conversion and who signs off the installation. Funder permission, payload changes, maintenance responsibility and the required condition at return belong in the order specification before any fabrication begins.
Vauxhall offers electric choices across all three van families, but they are not interchangeable solutions. Combo Electric suits a compact working brief; Vivaro Electric brings medium-van space; Movano Electric addresses the larger body requirement. A charging plan must serve the selected van while it carries the real load. Choosing electric at make level without choosing the body leaves the central operational question unanswered.
Diesel remains an option to compare where routes change, charging cannot be secured or the work requires a particular body combination. Avoid assuming the diesel version always carries more: equipment, battery, gross weight and the manufacturer’s payload definition can alter the result. Put the precise diesel and electric schedules side by side, including cab comfort, transmission and usable load, before deciding which trade-offs the business can accept.
Business Contract Hire puts the agreement in the business’s name. Start with realistic annual mileage and a term that fits the expected workload. Keep maintenance selection and initial rental consistent across proposals. An initial rental is a hire payment, not money held as refundable security, and contract hire does not build ownership of the van.
VAT recovery follows the vehicle’s VAT status and the business’s taxable use. A VAT-registered business should not assume that every amount is recoverable simply because the vehicle is a Vauxhall van. Private use, partial exemption and special VAT schemes can change the answer. Equally, the car-rental 50% block is not a default rule for a genuine commercial van. Use the IVF VAT guide and HMRC’s motoring guidance with your accountant. Capital allowances and the accounts require a separate review of the actual agreement; no universal deduction or accounting result is promised.
If the agreement is to be in your own name, say so when enquiring. Personal Contract Hire availability depends on the vehicle and funder, and the quotation needs to show the VAT-inclusive cost basis clearly. A sole trader using a van for work is not automatically in the same position as an employee given a company vehicle. The identity of the hirer and the actual use both matter.
A privately arranged Vivaro or Combo can still need commercial-use insurance and appropriate cover for tools or goods. Explain who will drive and whether the vehicle carries customers’ property. Manufacturer warranty, a maintenance package and motor insurance solve different problems; having one does not remove the need to arrange the others. Keep the business-use discussion separate from whether a particular contract can be offered.
For 2026/27, a qualifying company van made available for unrestricted private use has a standard taxable benefit of £4,170. Employer-provided private fuel can create a further £798 benefit. These are values used to calculate tax, not the tax bill or the cost of the lease. The employee’s tax rate and any permitted adjustments determine the personal result.
A qualifying zero-emission van currently has a £0 van benefit value. The conditions for business use, ordinary commuting and insignificant other private use can also remove the charge for a qualifying van. Keep a clear use policy and let payroll or the accountant assess the facts. Do not apply the exemption to a passenger conversion solely because the underlying vehicle began as a van.
For 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30, refresh the published van benefit and fuel cash figures rather than repeating 2026/27 values in a forecast. Passenger vehicles have a separate company-car percentage path; the electric-car bands are not the van schedule. Sources checked 28 September 2026: HMRC van benefit values and exempt use. Tax depends on circumstances and can change; obtain advice before ordering.
A Movano above 3,500 kg is outside the scope of the light-goods rate below. Check driver entitlement, operator licensing, tachograph obligations and the appropriate VED class for the intended operation. Goods-vehicle operator guidance and licence categories are starting points, not a personal ruling.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). In 2026/27, TC39 light goods vehicles registered from 1 March 2001 and not over 3,500 kg revenue weight pay £360 as a single annual payment, including zero-emission vans. Other classes and payment arrangements differ. Check the DVLA tax class and the funder’s treatment of future increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. This is a car-tax provision, not an addition automatically charged to a qualifying light goods van because its list price is high. Passenger versions need their own car VED and supplement check.
Planned eVED. The government’s July 2026 consultation response excludes vans, buses, coaches and HGVs from eVED at introduction. Do not add the planned April 2028 electric-car mileage charge to a van forecast. Recheck final legislation and vehicle classification.
Record departure time, return time and the longest loaded day before discussing an electric Vauxhall. A home charger needs permission and a practical parking position; a depot needs enough capacity for the vehicles charging together. A public charger shown near a job may be occupied, inaccessible to the body or unsuitable for the time available. Build a reserve into the operating plan.
Range figures in Vauxhall’s documents vary by guide edition, battery and derivative. The current Combo guide’s technical and derivative tables are not identical, so this range comparison makes no single mileage promise for every catalogue entry. Ask IVF to map the quoted model year and battery to its own technical schedule. Cold weather, motorway use, load and auxiliary equipment then need to be considered against that benchmark.
Vauxhall’s January 2026 Vivaro guide describes three-year vehicle cover, with unlimited mileage in year one and a 100,000-mile limit in years two and three. Its general web guidance is not fully consistent across model categories, so obtain the specific Combo or Movano terms separately. Ask for Vauxhall’s warranty booklet for the exact vehicle, including the commencement date, time and mileage limits, servicing obligations and exclusions. Electric traction-battery cover is a separate schedule, and a converted body may have a different provider. A manufacturer warranty is cover against specified defects; it is not a commitment to pay for every wear item or to keep a replacement van available throughout a repair.
The practical question is where this Combo, Vivaro or Movano will be maintained with its fitted equipment. Confirm the repairer can handle the vehicle’s size, gross weight and electric system where relevant. If choosing funder maintenance, obtain an itemised description of servicing, tyres and breakdown arrangements. Budget for any part of the working vehicle that falls outside those terms, especially conversion equipment that has its own inspection schedule.
For a mixed Vauxhall fleet, send one workload sheet per role rather than one blanket specification. A compact engineer’s van, a crew vehicle and a large delivery body need different mileage and equipment assumptions even when ordered together.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Intelligent Vehicle Finance checks the requirement against its panel of funders. A written proposal should identify the initial rental, subsequent rentals, contract length, mileage allowance, selected services and applicable fees. Assess equivalent vehicles and agreement terms together; a different body, weight class or maintenance package changes the comparison.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Bring photographs or measurements of the largest load and a list of permanent fittings. State whether the vehicle returns to a depot, whether colleagues travel with it and whether a heavier gross weight is acceptable to the business. IVF can then compare the relevant model families and request written terms around a defined job. No catalogue entry reserves a vehicle or confirms an acceptance decision.
Explore van leasing, small vans, medium vans, large panel vans, electric vans, van conversions, a callback.
Choose Combo Cargo for a compact working load, Vivaro for a medium body or crew requirement, and Movano when taller or longer loads determine the specification. Measure the equipment and access restrictions before selecting the model. A larger van is useful only if its extra space serves the work.
No. The MY2027 Electric Prime Plus references show 759 kg indicative payload for M and 691 kg for XL. The longer body provides more space but has a different weight allowance. Confirm the exact supplied version and include the driver, equipment and other occupants in the calculation.
Vauxhall UK lists Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric. Availability through IVF remains specific to the body, battery, model year and funder proposal. Assess the load and charging arrangements for each vehicle instead of assuming one electric specification covers the range.
The passenger row takes space that a panel van uses for goods. Check the usable area with the required seats occupied, plus the total weight of people and tools. A panel-van load volume is not the correct figure for assessing a Doublecab.
Discuss the base vehicle and the finished conversion together. A tipper, dropside or other installation needs its own dimensions, completed weight, approvals, warranty and return conditions. The presence of a chassis in a catalogue does not confirm a complete converted vehicle or a delivery date.
No single answer covers the range. Some versions exceed 3,500 kg and the relevant rules depend on the vehicle, driver and operation. Check licence categories, operator licensing, tachograph requirements and any applicable exemptions before ordering a heavier vehicle.
No. A qualifying zero-emission van currently has a nil van benefit value. Electric company cars use a percentage-based benefit system. A passenger conversion or other vehicle must be assessed in its own category; the fact it appears on a van website does not settle the tax treatment.
Recovery depends on VAT classification, taxable business use and the business’s VAT arrangements. Private use and partial exemption can affect the result. Ask the accountant to review the actual agreement; neither automatic full recovery nor the passenger-car rental block should be assumed.
Only if the written package says so. The base vehicle, refrigeration or other working equipment may have different service and warranty arrangements. Ask for the inclusions and exclusions before comparing a maintained quotation with one that covers the vehicle alone.
Provide the required body, number of occupants, load measurements, equipment weight, annual mileage and preferred term. For electric versions, add the longest loaded route and charging access. IVF will confirm the exact vehicle, supply position and funding terms rather than treating a catalogue row as a firm offer.
Tell us what must fit, who travels and where the van can charge. We will help you compare a specific vehicle and a clear written agreement.
