Abarth leasing: make the shortlist work for your week

An Abarth enquiry should begin with the experience you want from the car and the responsibilities it still has to fulfil. A driver choosing a compact open-top petrol car can accept different compromises from someone replacing the household’s only vehicle. The listed 600 and 695 therefore belong on separate practical briefs before their performance figures are compared.

The electric 600 is the starting point when everyday rear-door access matters. The 695 convertible is a more particular request for petrol character and an opening roof, with supply established for an actual remaining car. Neither decision is made by selecting the most powerful description in the catalogue.

Abarth and Fiat are related but separate brands. If the requirement is primarily a small everyday hatchback, the Fiat range provides its own comparison. Abarth’s suspension, seating, tyres and performance equipment should earn their place in your driving routine rather than being treated as cosmetic additions to a Fiat quotation.

Abarth leasing: key facts

  1. The current Abarth 600e is 4,187 mm long.
  2. Current 600e Turismo produces 240 hp; Competizione produces 280 hp.
  3. The current 600e uses a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential at the front axle.
  4. The 54 kWh-labelled 600e has an up-to-207-mile WLTP combined benchmark with the specified EcoTyres.
  5. The archived UK 695 specification produces 180 hp; that is a different petrol generation.
  6. Abarth vehicle cover is three years, with a total 60,000-mile limit in the third year after two unlimited-mileage years.

Choose the Abarth powertrain for your driving

Current UK 600e Turismo produces 240 hp and Competizione produces 280 hp. Earlier Scorpionissima descriptions can also appear in the catalogue, so record the actual grade and model year before assigning equipment. The current front-wheel-drive performance package includes a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential; a trim name alone is not a substitute for the supplied specification.

The electric choice changes where the energy comes from and how the car is used through the week. If it will park somewhere it cannot reliably charge, resolve that problem before selecting a performance derivative. An attractive test drive does not establish a repeatable weekday charging arrangement.

The 695 entries identify the earlier 1.4 T-Jet 180 convertible with manual and automatic transmission choices. Its archived UK 180 hp specification is 60 hp below current 600e Turismo, but that comparison also changes body, fuel and passenger access. Treat it as a distinction between vehicle concepts rather than a reason to assume one is more suitable.

Abarth also has a 500e electric model. Ask IVF to investigate the precise car and current supply if its smaller body suits your needs. The manufacturer’s model range does not establish an allocation through IVF, and the 500e must use its own battery and charging specifications rather than the 600e’s figures.

Abarth business leasing

For a business owner, the Abarth has to justify its place in the working pattern as well as appeal personally. Consider whether clients or colleagues travel in it, what equipment is carried and how many daily stops involve tight parking. The electric 600’s five-door format addresses a different task from the 695 convertible.

An electric company-car assessment does not make the full lease commitment disappear. Put insurance, tyres, charging and the employer’s obligations alongside the driver’s benefit calculation. If a car will be shared, confirm that all intended drivers and uses are permitted by the insurance and funder before selecting the exact derivative.

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Abarth personal leasing

A private Abarth driver should test the seat and ride on roads representative of normal use. Short demonstrations can favour the features that feel exciting immediately while revealing little about a longer commute. Include the rear passengers, if any, whose comfort will determine whether the car continues to work after the novelty of changing cars has passed.

For 695, try the luggage opening with the roof arrangement you intend to use. Pack the items needed for an ordinary weekend rather than assuming a small bag will always be enough. Specify the gearbox preference early; changing transmission can be more important to the experience than choosing another appearance package.

Abarth company-car tax across the lease

An Abarth company-car calculation follows the supplied vehicle and its private availability. Use the complete four-year schedule below with the actual P11D and certified emissions, rather than treating a model badge as a tax category.

The following retained illustration uses the 10 September 2026 catalogue snapshot. It assumes a full year, 40% personal income tax and no contributions or adjustments. It is not a vehicle quotation, employer cost or like-for-like saving.

Dated 2026/27 personal-tax illustration: 10 September catalogue inputs
Listed derivativeP11DTax basisBiKTax at 40%

695 1.4 T-Jet 180 Turismo 2dr£28,675156 g/km37%£4,243.90

The annual benefit is the P11D value multiplied by the applicable percentage; the driver pays their income tax rate on that benefit. Sole traders need their own business-use assessment. Confirm the offered car and the tax year before relying on these historical inputs.

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Abarth. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

Plan fuel and charging around your Abarth

The current 54 kWh 600e specification is quoted at up to 207 miles WLTP combined with EcoTyres. Abarth’s 20–80% charging benchmark is 27 minutes at a suitable 100 kW DC charger. Apply these figures only to the matching current UK model, battery and tyres, with the supplied wheels and equipment confirmed. Speed, temperature, starting charge and charger output change real results.

Plan an electric Abarth around the journey that repeats, including the return leg and a useful reserve. Public rapid charging can support longer trips, but a headline peak is not sustained for the entire session. Check alternative chargers and whether the stop suits any passengers travelling with you.

For the petrol 695, estimate fuel consumption from the roads and driving pattern you will actually use. Do not transfer the electric car’s charging economics or company-car band to it. Keeping fuel, tyres and insurance visible makes the difference between the two Abarth ideas easier to understand before the full agreement is compared.

Abarth warranty and servicing

Abarth’s UK warranty guidance describes three years from registration, with unlimited mileage for the first two years and a total 60,000-mile limit in the third. Confirm how much cover remains on the actual car, especially if an earlier registration is involved. The start of a new hire agreement does not restart the manufacturer’s warranty.

There is a separate eight-year traction-battery headline in the manufacturer’s guidance. The electric car’s policy must establish mileage, capacity and eligibility limits; it is not eight-year cover for every component. Obtain that document rather than borrowing a battery statement from another group brand.

Performance tyres, routine servicing and wear are distinct from covered defects. Ask for the maintenance package’s treatment of the exact wheel and tyre specification. If any intended activity falls outside ordinary road use, obtain the funder’s and insurer’s written position before committing; a performance badge supplies no permission by itself.

The Abarth checks to make before choosing equipment

At 4,187 mm long, 600e offers a different parking and rear-access proposition from the smaller 695 convertible. Sit behind the driver’s normal position and inspect the boot with the rear seats still usable. A car can meet the performance brief while failing the everyday loading requirement.

Check how the selected equipment affects visibility, seat adjustment and the ease of getting in and out. A more supportive seat can suit one driver and make shared use awkward for another. The useful question is whether the supplied car works for the people who will drive it, not whether a specification list is longer.

For 695, older-model status makes the written vehicle description especially valuable. Ask for the registration status, transmission, equipment and warranty start date before discussing handover. For 600e, distinguish current Turismo and Competizione from earlier names so that the quotation does not mix one version’s output with another’s fittings.

The return standard is also part of choosing a performance car. Understand the funder’s approach to wheel damage, tyre condition and missing equipment, and keep maintenance records throughout the term. These practical costs belong in the comparison even when no lease price is published on this page.

How IVF quotes your Abarth lease

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Abarth leasing questions

How do I compare Abarth lease deals?

Decide whether you need an everyday electric five-door or the particular petrol convertible experience. Then compare the actual grade, year and gearbox with consistent mileage and maintenance assumptions. Current supply must be confirmed for the named car.

Can an Abarth work as a company car?

Assess the business journeys, passengers and private availability first. Electric 600 and petrol 695 require different tax inputs. A driver’s benefit percentage is separate from the company’s hire, insurance, energy and maintenance commitment.

What separates 600e Turismo and Competizione?

Current UK descriptions give 240 hp and 280 hp respectively. Check the complete grade specification, including tyres and equipment, against the offered car. Earlier Scorpionissima entries should not be silently renamed as a current version.

Does the 600e range apply to every tyre specification?

No. The published up-to-207-mile WLTP benchmark is associated with the stated EcoTyres and matching current specification. Confirm wheels, tyres, model year and battery; weather and driving conditions also affect the journey achievable.

Is the 695 the same sort of car as 600e?

No. The retained 695 enquiry concerns an earlier petrol convertible with its own gearbox and supply choices. The 600e is electric with five-door access. Compare the actual passenger and energy requirements before performance figures.

Can I ask about Abarth 500e?

Yes, as a specific supply enquiry. Abarth lists the electric model, but IVF must establish the actual vehicle and availability. Its battery, equipment and agreement need separate checking; the 600e’s specification does not describe it.

Which Abarth should I try with passengers?

Start with 600e if regular rear-door access is essential. Test the actual cabin with the driver’s seat in its normal position. For a 695 convertible, confirm the rear-seat and luggage compromises before treating it as the household’s main car.

What does the warranty cover during a lease?

The applicable vehicle policy follows registration, age and mileage, while battery cover has separate conditions. Ask for both documents where relevant. Routine servicing and performance-tyre wear are not automatically paid for by a manufacturer warranty.

Does a performance badge allow track use?

No. Intended use must comply with the finance agreement and insurance. Ask for written confirmation of any unusual use before signing. Do not infer permission or cover from the vehicle’s performance equipment.

What should I specify in an Abarth enquiry?

Give the body, gearbox, required passenger use, annual mileage and charging arrangements where relevant. Add the equipment that matters and your timing. IVF can then discuss the precise vehicle, support arrangements and complete hire terms.
