Your Chery Tiggo 9 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance offers guidance on Chery Tiggo 9 leasing for business and private drivers needing a seven-seat SUV. Chery UK lists the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid plug-in model, and our catalogue shows Summit AWD. Check luggage with every seat occupied, your charging routine and the exact contract specification.

Tiggo 9 leasing starts with the seventh passenger

The Tiggo 9 suits enquiries where the occasional extra passenger has become a regular requirement. Its seven seats and plug-in powertrain combine two decisions that should be tested together: carrying the household or colleagues, and making external charging part of the routine. A large SUV that works well with its rear seats folded may be a different proposition with everyone aboard and luggage still to load.

For a director using one vehicle for family and business journeys, start with the busiest day rather than the solo commute. For an employer, check whether passenger capacity is regularly needed or whether a smaller car would serve most duties. The Tiggo 9 is less compelling if its size makes parking difficult or if the third row forces luggage arrangements you do not want. A physical loading demonstration should precede an equipment-led choice.

  • Chery UK markets Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid as a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV.
  • The captured IVF derivative is 1.5T PHEV Summit 5dr DHT AWD; allocation must be confirmed.
  • Chery specifies a 34.4kWh battery for the UK Super Hybrid; equipment and certification must match the quoted car.
  • Published luggage figures are 143 litres with all seats up and 819 litres with the third row folded, using Chery’s measurement basis.
  • Vehicle warranty: seven years/100,000 miles; high-voltage battery: eight years/100,000 miles, subject to Chery’s terms.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

The current UK Tiggo 9 and the IVF listing

Chery UK’s model page and current UK offer pages list the Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid, including Summit. It is a plug-in hybrid, despite the shorter Super Hybrid branding. Our dated IVF capture showed one derivative: 1.5T PHEV Summit 5dr DHT AWD. The narrow catalogue does not establish a stock position, build slot or delivery date. Ask for confirmation of the particular car and funder terms before making arrangements around it.

A single visible derivative can make the online choice look finished, but the vehicle brief still matters. Record required seating, paint, interior, towing equipment if needed and any accessibility constraints. Ask whether the quotation covers the same model year and UK specification as the demonstration car. Do not infer that overseas images, international reviews or a similarly named Tiggo 9 in another market describe the UK vehicle.

Seven seats and luggage are separate requirements

Chery’s published luggage figures make the key trade-off clear: the space behind the third row is much smaller than the space available with that row folded. Treat the figures as measurements for the stated seating configurations, not promises that a particular suitcase will fit. Put the actual bags into a demonstration car with the seats in the positions you will use. Check tailgate clearance and the height over which heavy items must be lifted.

Assess the third row with the intended occupants rather than using it only as a seat count. Try access with child seats fitted in the second row, check where feet go, and see whether passengers can reach their belts comfortably. If adults will travel there regularly, include a meaningful journey in the test. If the seats are mainly occasional, decide where loose equipment and the charging cable will go when they are raised.

Make the plug-in element work on ordinary days

The Tiggo 9’s battery makes charging a material part of the decision. Check your driveway arrangement before the order: where the charge port will sit, cable reach, whether another car blocks the space and whether installation is permitted. At a shared workplace, ask what happens when the bays are full. A dependable overnight routine is more useful to a busy driver than a theoretical charger they rarely have time to visit.

Chery publishes electric-range and rapid-charging benchmarks, but those need matching to the supplied UK derivative and conditions. This page avoids turning the headline into a prediction for a loaded motorway trip. Ask for the current specification sheet and compare laboratory figures only on the same basis. Temperature, speed, heating, load and charging equipment all affect the practical result.

Tiggo 9 versus Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 4

Tiggo 8 is the closest Chery comparison for a household that needs seven seats. Use its own page to separate the powertrains and assess whether it meets the passenger brief without assuming equipment carries across. Tiggo 4 is a different decision for drivers who can use five seats and want a more compact car. The Tiggo 9 should win a place on the shortlist because its particular cabin and plug-in arrangement help, not simply because its model number is higher.

Chery Tiggo 9 company-car tax across the lease

For Tiggo 9, the supplied vehicle’s certified electric range and CO2 establish the starting point. Do not use the electric-car percentage or infer a tax band from the Super Hybrid badge. Check any emissions-test easement against the actual registration and certification.

A director taking a Tiggo 9 as a company car needs the supplied vehicle’s P11D value, the appropriate percentage for each year and their personal income tax rate. Those inputs determine the benefit calculation, subject to individual adjustments; the rental alone cannot do so. A sole trader’s own Tiggo 9 is assessed differently. Keep a dated calculation with the vehicle certification, especially if the agreement will span the higher later-year plug-in percentages.

Conditional PHEV: 1-50g/km and 40-69-mile certified electric range10%11%18%19%

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Chery Tiggo 9. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

The electric-mile figures above are HMRC band thresholds, not promises of this car’s driving range. Newer plug-in hybrid certification can show more than 50 g/km. A temporary company-car easement may treat an eligible car as 1 g/km where the registration date, electric range and Euro-status conditions are met; it is not automatic and must not be transferred to lease-rental deductions. Check the vehicle documents and HMRC’s plug-in hybrid conditions with your accountant.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Chery Tiggo 9 leasing questions

Is the Chery Tiggo 9 a plug-in hybrid?

Yes. Chery UK’s Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid combining petrol and electric power. Treat Super Hybrid as the manufacturer’s name for this system, not as evidence that external charging is unnecessary. Your expected charging frequency belongs in the vehicle brief.

Is Tiggo 9 currently listed in the UK?

Chery’s UK model and offer pages list Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid, including Summit, as checked on 28 September 2026. IVF’s capture showed one Summit AWD derivative. These sources establish a marketed model and catalogue listing; the offered vehicle and delivery position still need individual confirmation.

Does the Tiggo 9 have seven seats?

The UK model is described as a seven-seat SUV. Check third-row access, seating comfort and child-seat arrangements with the actual passengers. The ability to raise two extra seats does not establish that everyone’s bags will also fit behind them on a long journey.

How much luggage fits in a Tiggo 9?

Chery publishes 143 litres with all seats raised and 819 litres with the third row folded. These are configuration-specific measurements. Test your own luggage and confirm the quoted UK car matches; shape, loading access and passenger requirements can matter more than the volume alone.

Which Tiggo 9 derivative does IVF show?

The recorded entry is 1.5T PHEV Summit 5dr DHT AWD. Confirm its equipment, model year and order status in writing. Do not assume additional trims or another market’s specification can be supplied just because the Tiggo 9 name appears in wider manufacturer material.

Should I choose Tiggo 9 or Tiggo 8?

Begin with how often you use seven seats and what luggage must travel alongside the passengers. Then compare the exact powertrains and equipment. Tiggo 8 has a separate leasing page; a smaller model may meet the brief, while Tiggo 9 requires its own space and charging assessment.

What is the Tiggo 9 warranty?

Chery states seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle and eight years or 100,000 miles for the high-voltage battery, subject to policy conditions. Check the earliest applicable limit and maintenance obligations. Optional lease maintenance and roadside assistance have separate terms.

What BiK rate applies to Tiggo 9?

There is no zero-emission-car rate simply because it is a plug-in hybrid. The exact car’s certified CO2, electric range and applicable HMRC provisions determine its band. Obtain the vehicle documents and compare the percentage through every tax year of the agreement with your accountant.

What affects a Tiggo 9 lease quote?

The car’s precise specification, term, annual mileage, initial rental and chosen maintenance affect the comparison, alongside funder terms and applicable fees. The grid carries prices; IVF’s written quotation should make the complete agreement clear. Availability and finance remain subject to confirmation and status.

What should I check before a Tiggo 9 order?

Complete a seven-seat loading trial, establish charging access, obtain an insurance quotation and confirm servicing arrangements. Then match the written specification to the car tested. Ask about tax changes, early termination, excess mileage and return condition before accepting the contract.
