Your GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance arranges GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid business and personal leasing. This petrol full-hybrid SUV suits drivers who want everyday electric assistance without plugging in. Compare Premium, Lux and Ultra equipment, test the family layout and confirm the UK warranty and service arrangements for the car offered.

Haval Jolion Pro hybrid business and personal leasing: the intended use

The Haval Jolion Pro is a full-hybrid SUV for a driver who wants electric assistance without organising external charging. That is its starting point, whether it will be a company car used between appointments or a household vehicle covering varied journeys. It should be assessed against the space, equipment and support arrangements you need, with the UK specification kept clearly in view.

For a small business, a useful brief might combine regular passengers, straightforward handovers between drivers and a clear service plan. For a private driver, the priorities may be family access, parking visibility and the way the hybrid system responds on familiar roads. Neither brief requires assumptions about future resale values or how a newer UK brand will develop. The car and agreement can be assessed on evidence available now.

It is not the right choice if your requirement is routine externally charged driving or a zero-emission company car. The hybrid still uses petrol, and its company-car tax treatment follows certified emissions. If plugging in is central to the plan, compare the Geely Starray EM-i instead; if a smaller premium hybrid better fits parking and passenger needs, the Lexus LBX offers another distinct route.

GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid leasing: key facts

  • GWM UK currently markets the Haval Jolion Pro as a 1.5-litre hybrid that does not require plugging in.
  • The UK brochure specifies 139 kW / 189 PS combined hybrid output; engine and motor outputs must not be added together.
  • GWM lists Premium, Lux and Ultra equipment grades in its UK brochure.
  • Published body dimensions are 4,470 mm long, 1,898 mm wide and 1,625 mm high; allow separately for mirrors and access.
  • GWM UK states a five-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year / 100,000-mile battery and EV drivetrain warranty, subject to the respective terms.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

The UK model and the three grades on IVF’s route

GWM UK’s launch material established the Haval Jolion Pro hybrid for the British market, and its current model and owner pages continue to describe it. The IVF capture on 27 September lists three 1.5 eHEV DHT entries: Lux, Premium and Ultra. Their order on the page does not define their equipment hierarchy or establish which car is available for a particular delivery date.

GWM’s UK brochure shows Premium as the starting equipment specification, Lux adding features, and Ultra adding further cabin and parking equipment. Compare those contents with the actual quotation. The brochure distinguishes infotainment displays, wheel sizes and seat functions across the grades, so a photograph of one version should not be treated as a promise about another.

The combined hybrid output is a system figure. GWM lists petrol-engine and electric-motor outputs separately, but adding them together would not create a valid new performance claim. The DHT catalogue wording identifies the hybrid transmission description; it does not mean the car is a plug-in. Confirm the manufacturer model year, grade and equipment schedule as a single package before comparing agreement terms.

Drive the hybrid on the roads that define your week

A non-plug hybrid removes a charging task, but it does not remove the need to judge how the vehicle behaves on your own routes. Try low-speed traffic, joining a faster road and a hill similar to one you use regularly. Notice the relationship between accelerator input, engine sound and the car’s response. This gives you a better basis for choosing than assuming that every full hybrid feels the same.

GWM’s brochure includes an official combined fuel-consumption figure, but no single test result predicts the cost of every commute. A cold start, a long high-speed run and repeated urban journeys create different conditions. For a business comparison, use your actual route mix and a cautious fuel assumption. For a household, include the second driver’s routine rather than planning only around the person arranging the lease.

Driver-assistance equipment also needs a proper introduction. Check the alerts and controls on a demonstration car and ask how to configure them appropriately. Assistance supports the driver and does not replace attention. If colleagues will share the vehicle, make time for a consistent handover so essential controls, parking aids and warning messages are understood by everyone who will drive it.

Choose equipment for access, visibility and passenger comfort

The UK brochure places a rear camera and other assistance features in the Premium specification, with additional viewing and cabin equipment as you move through Lux and Ultra. The relevant question is which of those features addresses a real need. A clearer parking view may matter more in your usual bays than an appearance change, while seat adjustment deserves attention if two drivers use the car.

Test the cabin with your normal passenger arrangement and the boot with your actual luggage. The published body dimensions are useful for an initial parking assessment but do not describe door clearance or how a bulky item passes through the tailgate. Check access to child-seat positions or regularly carried equipment while the front seats remain set for the usual occupants.

Where a panoramic roof, ventilated seat or head-up display is part of the appeal, confirm the feature on the exact grade offered. Try it in use instead of treating the equipment list as a checklist to maximise. A carefully selected Premium or Lux can be the right brief when its contents match the task; Ultra should be chosen for its own useful additions, not simply its place in the range.

UK warranty and support: check the terms that apply

GWM UK states a five-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty for the Haval Jolion Pro and separate eight-year or 100,000-mile battery and EV drivetrain cover, whichever limit is reached first for that separate cover. These are different warranties. The unlimited-mileage wording for the vehicle should not be transferred to the battery, paint, wear items or every other component.

Ask for the warranty booklet applying to the supplied car and check registration date, exclusions, servicing obligations and the process for a claim. Identify the service location you would actually use and how routine work can be arranged around your business or household. Published cover does not establish an appointment date, parts lead time or a replacement-car entitlement. Those practical arrangements require their own confirmation.

A manufacturer warranty is also separate from optional maintenance under a lease. Servicing, tyres, accidental damage and insurance should be addressed in their proper places in the agreement. For a company car, compare this support brief alongside certified CO2 and P11D. For a private lease, use it to understand responsibilities over the whole term. That produces a clear ownership-of-tasks plan without speculation about the brand’s future.

GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid company-car tax across the lease

The Haval Jolion Pro uses petrol-hybrid CO2 bands. IVF’s capture displays 133 g/km, but obtain the supplied car’s manufacturer certification before assigning a rate. The table is the conditional HMRC band for that emissions interval, not a completed individual tax assessment.

For an employee with private availability, P11D times the annual percentage produces the starting taxable benefit. Personal income tax and any adjustments follow. The relevant percentage is not a charge on the rental, and a sole trader’s own-car calculation is a separate matter.

Tax specification2026/272027/282028/292029/30
Conditional petrol-hybrid benchmark: certified 130-134 g/km32%32%33%34%

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 using GOV.UK and HMRC guidance. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For the Haval Jolion Pro, first-year VED is tied to certified CO2. The standard annual amount thereafter is £200 in 2026/27 before any applicable supplement. Hybrid assistance is not a VED exemption; subsequent years’ cash rates are not confirmed here.

Expensive Car Supplement. Check the quoted vehicle’s list price and relevant options against the petrol-hybrid threshold above £40,000. If applicable, the supplement is £440 annually in 2026/27, running for five years from the second licence. Its basis is list price rather than the rental: see the GOV.UK table.

Planned eVED. The non-plug Haval hybrid is outside the electric and plug-in categories of planned eVED. The proposed April 2028 starting rates are 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for PHEVs, with later CPI uprating. The scheme needs legislation and implementation; the official response is the current reference.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

GWM Haval Jolion Pro hybrid leasing questions

Does the Haval Jolion Pro hybrid need a charger?

No. GWM UK describes a 1.5-litre hybrid that operates without external charging. It remains a petrol full hybrid, rather than a plug-in hybrid or a battery-electric vehicle.

Can a business lease the Haval Jolion Pro?

IVF can discuss Business Contract Hire, subject to status and funder criteria. Confirm the UK grade, P11D and certified CO2, then assess employee tax separately from the business’s accounting and VAT position.

Can I choose a personal lease?

IVF can discuss Personal Contract Hire for the Haval Jolion Pro hybrid. Compare the chosen grade, term, mileage and maintenance arrangement with insurance and fuel costs. Confirm the offered vehicle and supply position in writing.

Which grades does IVF list?

The captured route lists 1.5 eHEV Lux, Premium and Ultra DHT versions. GWM’s UK brochure describes their equipment differences. Catalogue order is not a guide to grade hierarchy or evidence of immediate supply.

Is the combined hybrid power the sum of both motors?

Use GWM’s stated combined system output. The petrol engine and electric motor have separately quoted outputs, but adding those numbers together would misrepresent the powertrain’s certified system figure.

What vehicle warranty does GWM UK state?

GWM UK states five years of unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty. The cover remains subject to its terms and exclusions. Check the supplied vehicle’s registration date, warranty booklet and servicing obligations before relying on it.

Is the battery warranty also unlimited mileage?

No. GWM’s owner page states separate battery and EV drivetrain cover of eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Do not transfer the vehicle warranty’s mileage wording to that cover.

Does the hybrid receive electric-car BiK treatment?

No. The Haval Jolion Pro is not a zero-emission car. Its certified CO2 and P11D determine the company-car calculation. Confirm the actual derivative rather than applying an electric percentage to the hybrid badge.

How does it differ from the Starray EM-i?

The Haval Jolion Pro does not require plugging in. The UK Starray EM-i is a plug-in hybrid, so its useful electric capability depends on regular charging. Compare those routines before comparing equipment.

What should I confirm about servicing?

Identify the appropriate service location, schedule and warranty conditions for the supplied car. Ask separately what any lease maintenance package covers, including tyres and exclusions. Warranty cover does not automatically include routine maintenance.
