Grenadier is a specialist choice, so the strongest enquiry explains what a conventional passenger car cannot do for you. That might be access to a rural property, regular travel with outdoor equipment or a particular loaded trailer. Put those requirements alongside ordinary use: the school run, commute, car park and longer road journeys still matter throughout the lease.
The IVF catalogue now shows petrol and diesel Grenadier derivatives, replacing the earlier empty-page position. It remains necessary to identify the actual vehicle and a suitable funder. Tell IVF which passenger layout you need, the equipment carried, annual mileage and required date. A Trialmaster, Fieldmaster or other edition name should prompt a specification check, not an assumption that every accessory or capability is included. A considered lease starts with that vehicle brief before the contract is compared.
Have an INEOS shortlist? Talk through the body and specification with IVF.
| Model line | Body and powertrain | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Grenadier Station Wagon | Passenger four-wheel-drive vehicle; petrol or diesel | Match the exact seating, equipment and year to the intended use. |
| Grenadier Commercial | Separate two-seat UK specification | Not a substitute where rear passenger places are required; classification needs its own assessment. |
| Quartermaster | Separate pickup body in the INEOS range | Outside this Station Wagon passenger shortlist; do not borrow car or commercial tax assumptions. |
A live catalogue route is not an allocation or delivery promise. Rows marked as legacy or announced keep their stated status; confirm the exact UK car and agreement before commitment.
Station Wagon is the passenger proposition discussed here. The UK Grenadier Commercial has two seats and a separate load area, so it cannot satisfy a brief requiring rear passenger places. Quartermaster is another body again. A business invoice or a familiar Grenadier badge does not make these interchangeable for seating, registration, insurance or tax. Ask for the exact vehicle description and approved use.
When towing, start with the trailer’s loaded weight and everything travelling in the vehicle at the same time. Passengers, accessories, luggage and towbar load consume capacity. Check the vehicle’s documented trailer, payload, noseweight and gross-train limits individually rather than treating a headline maximum as permission for every combination. The actual licence entitlement and insurance must also fit the use. This page does not assign a blanket towing capacity to unconfirmed catalogue derivatives or turn a commercial launch description into a passenger-car tax promise.
The live route includes 3.0 petrol and 3.0 diesel descriptions, with edition names including Fieldmaster, Trialmaster and newer specialist variants. Choose the engine around the regular journey and verified specification. The decision should include annual mileage, operating conditions and the precise emissions certification rather than assuming that every diesel or edition has identical running characteristics.
Some catalogue fields are incomplete or inconsistent, so use the matching UK vehicle documents for fuel consumption, emissions and approved weights. IVF can ask for those details alongside the offered car. The passenger Grenadier entries discussed here are engine-equipped; an electric-car tax percentage or a plug-in charging assumption would be inappropriate. If a newer edition is proposed, establish its model year and fitted equipment rather than transferring details from an older launch review.
A business considering an INEOS should set out the passenger job and why the capability is required before discussing tax. The current passenger catalogue contains high-emissions petrol and diesel entries, so a company-car benefit can be substantial where a director or employee has private availability. Use the precise P11D, emissions and diesel certification across the proposed term rather than a general commercial-vehicle assumption.
Vehicle classification must be assessed under the relevant rules for each tax. A two-seat Commercial, a passenger Station Wagon and a pickup body can raise different questions. This passenger-page guide does not promise van benefit treatment, full VAT recovery or exemption. Provide the accountant with the actual construction and registration documents, then compare the appropriate funder agreement. Business use alone does not answer any of those classification tests.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
For a private Grenadier, test how the car fits the journeys that happen most often. Check parking height and width, passenger entry, the load opening and access to the equipment you carry. A vehicle chosen for occasional demanding trips still needs to suit the driver and household on ordinary weekdays. Make essential passenger places and luggage space non-negotiable items in the brief.
Discuss roof equipment, towing fittings or other accessories before a funder quotation is finalised. Obtain written permission where required and confirm how the car must be returned. Insurance should reflect the actual use, including any activity beyond routine road travel. With PCH, the household carries the contract commitment, fuel and maintenance costs; company-car benefit percentages do not describe that personal cost. Plan mileage around both daily travel and the trips that motivated the Grenadier choice.
These are ordinary passenger-car tax benchmarks. Confirm the Grenadier’s classification, P11D, emissions and diesel certification; do not apply them automatically to a Commercial or pickup.
For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.
The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Passenger car at the maximum petrol / qualifying diesel band | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every INEOS. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Ask IVF for the exact INEOS vehicle details to take to your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing. The INEOS powertrain discussed here is outside those planned electric and plug-in hybrid categories.
A fuel comparison should use the exact petrol or diesel specification and a realistic duty pattern. Frequent short trips, a loaded vehicle, towing and demanding terrain can all alter the result from a laboratory figure. Where catalogue economy fields look inconsistent, request a manufacturer document rather than using a convenient number to support the choice. This guide deliberately makes no unsupported brand-wide consumption promise.
Also examine the nearest suitable service location and the practical cost of time without the car. If Grenadier is essential to reach work or carry equipment, determine what replacement transport is actually included in any support arrangement. A warranty can pay for an eligible repair without covering every operational consequence of downtime. Ask about maintenance suited to the intended use and keep routine work, consumables, assistance and insurance separate in the comparison.
The UK and European warranty table gives Grenadier five years of mechanical cover with unlimited mileage, starting from first retail registration and subject to terms. Other components have their own periods: paintwork is three years, anti-perforation twelve years, genuine parts two years and accessories three years in that table. The anti-perforation provision requires the specified inspections, so a long headline period is not unconditional cover.
INEOS requires servicing to its maintenance schedule and evidence that the vehicle has been properly maintained. Towing, severe conditions or other demanding use can require additional attention. Damage from unapproved modifications and excluded use is not made acceptable by the warranty. Confirm the actual vehicle’s documents, service arrangements and any accessory permissions. Optional lease maintenance addresses its stated routine work; it does not extend every manufacturer protection or remove the funder’s return requirements.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use business car leasing, personal contract hire, company-car tax guide, VAT on business leasing, request a callback, electric car leasing, Jeep Wrangler, Business Contract Hire, KGM Rexton, FRC accounting changes, HMRC car-hire deductions, Future company-car tax publication, IVF customer feedback on Feefo to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Ready to compare your INEOS options? Send your mileage, required equipment and timing.
Yes. The current live catalogue contains Grenadier petrol and diesel derivatives. Send the passenger specification, intended use, mileage and timing so IVF can check a particular car and funder. Catalogue presence does not confirm allocation or delivery.
Use the same term, annual mileage and maintenance basis after fixing body, engine, seats and essential equipment. Include intended towing or accessories in the enquiry. Compare the complete written commitment and permitted use, not just an edition name.
No. The separate UK Commercial has two seats and a load area, while Station Wagon serves a passenger brief. Confirm the exact construction and registration. Business use does not make one body a substitute for another where rear seats are needed.
No. Contracting party, vehicle construction and the tax rules are separate questions. Ask an accountant to assess VAT, benefit and vehicle-tax treatment using the supplied vehicle’s documents. No blanket exemption or full VAT entitlement follows from the badge.
Provide the loaded trailer, passengers, luggage and accessories carried together. The proposed car’s trailer limit, payload, noseweight and gross train weight must all be satisfied. Confirm equipment approval, licence entitlement, insurance and any funder conditions.
Discuss them before ordering and obtain required funder permission. Check approved fitting, warranty effects and removal or return requirements. An accessory’s availability from a supplier does not itself establish that it can be fitted under your lease.
The checked UK and Europe table gives five years with unlimited mileage from first retail registration, subject to conditions and exclusions. Paint, corrosion, parts and accessories have separate provisions. Proper servicing and relevant inspections remain necessary.
No such blanket promise is made. Establish what repair, assistance and replacement-transport support applies to the actual car and agreement. An eligible repair does not necessarily cover lost use or the wider cost to a business.
Confirm them against the exact UK manufacturer specification, particularly where a field is missing or inconsistent. Fuel use depends on the journey, load and conditions. Do not transfer a figure from another engine, edition or market.
Contract hire has no contractual purchase option. The vehicle is returned under the funder’s terms, including any charges for excess mileage, damage beyond fair wear and tear or missing equipment. Agree accessory and return requirements before signing.
