Your KGM Rexton leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare KGM Rexton business and personal leasing for a seven-seat passenger SUV with a diesel towing brief. This car page covers the passenger Rexton, not the separate commercial version. Check your loaded trailer, passenger numbers and parking space before choosing the exact specification and agreement.

Rexton business and personal leasing starts with the load

The passenger Rexton is a specific answer to a specific requirement: carrying people while retaining a substantial towing brief. It deserves consideration when a normal working week includes family transport, colleagues or a trailer that rules out some other SUVs. If you simply want a high driving position for short urban trips, test whether its size and diesel layout suit that use before committing.

Write down the largest load you expect to carry and the number of people who will travel with it. Seven seating positions do not mean seven people and all their luggage fit every trip without compromise. Towing equipment and accessories also consume available weight allowance. A realistic loading plan is more valuable than choosing solely from the headline towing figure.

This page concerns the passenger car. Rexton commercial enquiries belong to the separately identified commercial vehicle. Do not transfer its seating arrangement, load-area description or tax assumptions to the seven-seat SUV, even though the model name is shared. For the separate commercial vehicle, see Rexton commercial leasing.

KGM Rexton leasing: key facts

  • KGM UK describes the passenger Rexton as a seven-seat SUV with a 2.2-litre diesel engine.
  • The current UK specification has selectable four-wheel drive with low ratio and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
  • KGM quotes a maximum braked trailer load of 3,500 kg; train mass, payload, towbar and trailer conditions still apply.
  • The technical table gives 240 litres of luggage space with the rear seats fully up; test your own load.
  • KGM’s published combustion-vehicle warranty is five years or 100,000 miles, subject to its terms.
  • GOV.UK: the maximum company-car BiK band is 37% in 2026/27 and 39% in 2029/30; the exact car can fall in a lower band.

These are different vehicle choices, not identical specifications or a ranking. Check the precise powertrain, equipment and availability of each before comparing quotations.

What the Rexton grid actually offers

IVF’s capture on 28 September 2026 shows three passenger derivatives: 2.2 K30, K51 and K50, each described as a five-door automatic SUV. These are catalogue choices, not evidence of three vehicles ready to be delivered. KGM’s current UK material confirms the diesel automatic passenger range; availability and equipment must be matched to the exact offered car.

Ask for the K30, K50 or K51 specification in writing. Focus on seating, parking visibility, the towbar installation and any equipment essential to your work. If two model years use related trim descriptions, check their individual equipment rather than assuming a trim hierarchy proves which has a particular feature.

Use the priced grid to start a conversation, with the mileage and agreement settings visible. A lower displayed rental on a different term does not resolve which vehicle serves the job. IVF can work from your passenger and towing requirements to compare a quotation on a consistent contract basis.

Seven seats and a trailer require one combined check

The maximum braked trailer rating is not a promise that every fully loaded combination is permitted. Have the vehicle’s gross weight, train weight, axle limits and nose-weight allowance checked together. Include people, luggage and any fitted accessories in the vehicle load. Ask for confirmation against the supplied car’s documents before fitting equipment or making towing plans.

Check the trailer itself as carefully as the car. Its permitted weight, coupling and braking arrangements need to suit the combination. If more than one person will tow, each driver should establish their own licence entitlement and competence. Business use may introduce additional obligations depending on the operation; obtain the relevant advice for that use.

For family travel, test access to the third row and the remaining luggage area with those seats occupied. Take the bags or cases you would normally use on a full-house trip. If your normal load requires folded seats, be clear which passengers would then need a different travel arrangement.

Diesel running and parking in the real week

A diesel Rexton needs to fit the routes you actually drive. Discuss repeated short journeys as well as longer trips and follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions. Do not assume a larger diesel automatically reduces costs for low annual mileage. Work through fuel, insurance, servicing and the contract before deciding whether the capability earns its place.

Measure the parking area at both home and work. Allow space to open the doors, load the rear and manoeuvre with a trailer if required. A parking camera can assist, but it does not change the vehicle’s physical dimensions or make a narrow entrance wider. Try the arrangement yourself where possible.

Selectable four-wheel drive and low ratio call for familiarisation with the correct modes and surfaces. Arrange a handover that explains their use. These systems do not remove tyre, braking-distance or weather limitations, and they should not be treated as permission to expose a leased vehicle to avoidable damage.

Compare the passenger brief before choosing the badge

A Korando or Torres may answer a different KGM passenger requirement if you do not regularly need the Rexton’s seating and towing combination. Use the comparison to question what is essential. If your trailer is only a possibility, settle that requirement before selecting a car around it; if towing is central to the business, document it before a quotation is prepared.

Equipment checks should also include the people who use the car least comfortably. Test third-row entry, child-seat arrangements and the space available to the driver with passengers behind. Consider whether a full passenger load leaves room for the equipment that must remain inside the vehicle rather than on a trailer.

KGM’s warranty has its own time and mileage conditions. A business covering long distances may reach the mileage limit before the time limit. Ask about the maintenance schedule and local support, and keep optional servicing cover separate from warranty protection when comparing funder quotations.

KGM Rexton company-car tax across the lease

KGM’s current UK technical table gives a 225 g/km diesel reference. That is at the company-car percentage ceiling shown below. The commercial Rexton is a separate classification task; its name does not change the passenger car’s treatment.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every KGM Rexton. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.

Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing. The KGM Rexton powertrain discussed here is outside those planned electric and plug-in hybrid categories.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

KGM Rexton leasing questions

Is this the seven-seat Rexton or the commercial version?

This page covers the passenger Rexton. The commercial derivative is a separate vehicle task with different seating and classification considerations. Ask IVF to identify the intended vehicle explicitly in the quotation.

Does the UK Rexton come as an electric car?

KGM’s current UK passenger Rexton material describes a diesel range. Do not treat it as a plug-in hybrid or electric SUV. Ask about other KGM models if charging is part of your brief.

Which Rexton versions appear at IVF?

The checked passenger grid lists K30, K51 and K50 automatic SUV descriptions. Confirm model year, equipment and availability for the exact car; a catalogue row is not a stock confirmation.

Can a Rexton tow my trailer?

Possibly, but it needs a complete weight and approval check. Supply the loaded trailer details, passenger load and accessories so the vehicle’s trailer, train, axle and payload limits can be checked together.

Will seven passengers leave enough luggage space?

That depends on the actual people and luggage. Test the boot with the third row occupied rather than relying on a seats-folded volume. If the load requires seats to fold, account for the lost seating positions.

Does a passenger Rexton use company-van tax rules?

Do not assume that. This page addresses a passenger car, so company-car and car-VAT considerations apply to the described use. Have your accountant confirm the supplied vehicle’s classification and your circumstances.

Is Rexton suitable for personal leasing?

Consider it where regular passenger or towing needs justify the vehicle. Check home parking, insurance and realistic annual mileage, including holiday towing, before comparing a personal quotation.

What does the Rexton warranty cover?

KGM publishes separate warranty terms and exclusions. Confirm the actual warranty start date and mileage limit for the supplied vehicle. Routine servicing, tyres and maintenance-package inclusions require their own checks.

How should I compare business quotations?

Keep the model year, trim, towing equipment, mileage, term and maintenance basis aligned. Then ask your accountant to review the private-use and tax implications for the passenger car.

What details does IVF need for a Rexton enquiry?

Include normal passenger numbers, trailer and load details, expected annual mileage, essential equipment and parking constraints. State clearly that you require the passenger version if that is your intended use.
