Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Jaecoo 5 petrol and electric leasing. The electric version is marketed as E5, while this IVF route groups both powertrains under 5. Start with your charging routine, cabin requirements and the exact Pure or Luxury specification, then compare business or personal hire terms.
The Jaecoo 5 is a compact SUV to consider when an upright body and flexible everyday use appeal, but a larger SUV would add size you do not need. Its petrol and electric versions create two distinct routines. A business driver should resolve reliable charging and the company-car calculation early; a private driver should begin with parking, passengers and the journeys made most often.
Outdoor styling is not proof of AWD or towing capacity. Obtain those specifications if essential. A long warranty also cannot establish seat comfort or visibility; test the intended vehicle.
Jaecoo 5 and two alternatives: different ownership tasks
| Model | Reason to consider it | Decision to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Jaecoo 5 / E5 | Compact upright SUV with petrol or electric choice | Resolve powertrain and exact Pure or Luxury equipment. |
| Jaecoo 7 | Different cabin and broader vehicle brief | Check the sibling’s own powertrain and dimensions. |
| Omoda 5 | Sister-brand compact SUV alternative | Compare cabin usability and current specifications independently. |
The 28 September 2026 capture lists three entries: 1.6T Pure 7DCT petrol, and 155kW Pure and Luxury electric entries with a 61kWh catalogue battery label. These are the versions this page can discuss as captured listings. Jaecoo’s wider UK range and a particular funder’s current vehicle availability are separate matters. Confirm the derivative and supply in writing.
The current UK model page and configurator present petrol 5 and electric E5. Some general brand material mentions a 5 hybrid, but a corresponding current configurator choice or IVF row was not established here. We therefore do not present a Jaecoo 5 hybrid as an orderable option. Ask the specialist to resolve any differently named proposal before treating it as equivalent.
Pure and Luxury are the relevant grade names in the electric listings, while the captured petrol entry is Pure. Jaecoo’s UK material describes additional comfort and convenience features for Luxury, but equipment can vary between petrol and electric versions. Ask for the correct powertrain’s specification sheet instead of transferring a feature from a similarly named demonstrator.
Prioritise seating, visibility and temperature controls. Put any essential roof, heated-seat or audio feature in writing. Test headroom with the intended roof rather than choosing by feature count.
The petrol 5’s turbocharged engine and dual-clutch automatic suit a buyer who wants to investigate this body without arranging vehicle charging. Drive it in slow traffic and through parking manoeuvres, as well as on faster roads. Different automatic transmissions can feel different at low speed, and a short demonstration should include the situations the driver finds most demanding.
Current and launch UK source pages show differing petrol power figures, so this pack does not assign a single output to every listing. Ask for the exact model year and technical sheet with the quotation. The practical decision remains the same: make sure the offered car’s response, equipment, fuel needs and certified CO2 fit the job.
The UK model page specifies a 60.9kWh E5 battery, whereas IVF’s rows use 61kWh. Treat the catalogue number as a label to reconcile, rather than a reason to round every technical specification yourself. Obtain the actual battery, trim, wheels, model year and charging equipment. A published figure for another Omoda or Jaecoo product is not an E5 specification.
Before choosing electric, identify the regular charging location and a practical backup for longer days. This page makes no driving-range or charging-time promise for the listed cars. Request the derivative’s certified benchmark and consider weather, motorway speed, load and charger availability. The decision should survive a disrupted week, not only the most convenient example journey.
Jaecoo lists five seats, but that is not a guarantee that every passenger combination will be comfortable. Place the normal driver’s seat first, then check rear legroom, headroom and the intended child seats. Look at the boot with rear seats upright and try the bulky item you most often carry rather than relying on a seats-folded capacity figure.
Check that the pet carrier or restraint fits securely. Pet-friendly marketing does not establish accessory suitability or funder permission. Confirm interior protection and return-condition requirements.
Compare Jaecoo 7 if the larger sibling’s cabin and powertrain choices address a requirement the 5 cannot meet. The badge relationship does not make their charging needs or company-car tax identical. Start each comparison from the exact version, and test the passenger and luggage arrangement before accepting the extra footprint.
Try Omoda 5 with the same passengers and luggage. A sister-brand relationship does not establish equivalent equipment or cabin comfort. Our electric car leasing guide helps you assess charging access.
Jaecoo’s current UK warranty page states seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle, whichever comes first, with exclusions. High-voltage battery protection is separately stated as eight years or 100,000 miles. Read the detailed terms for service obligations, covered failures and battery capacity conditions; the headline is not a maintenance package or assurance that wear is covered.
Locate the servicing workshop and check its convenience. For E5, include cables and account setup at handover. Record the actual build so a proposed substitution can be checked against your essential features.
The captured petrol Jaecoo 5 entry shows 159g/km, giving the maximum band if the supplied car’s certification matches. E5’s zero-emission calculation is separate. Resolve the exact P11D, powertrain and model year before estimating a driver’s personal tax.
The taxable benefit for an employee or director with private use normally starts with the supplied vehicle’s P11D value and the appropriate annual percentage. Apply the driver’s income tax position separately. A business’s hire payments are a different calculation; sole traders need advice on their own circumstances.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission E5 | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| Petrol 5 only if certified at the maximum band | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

They are related petrol and electric products, with E5 used as the electric name by Jaecoo UK. IVF groups both in this 5 route. Specify the energy type clearly because the drivetrain, charging requirements and company-car treatment differ; the shared route does not make their specifications identical.
The captured grid lists one petrol Pure and two electric E5 entries. No hybrid row was captured. Although some general brand copy mentions a hybrid, the current model configurator reviewed here presented 5 petrol and E5 electric. A hybrid proposal needs separate current UK specification and supply confirmation.
The live snapshot includes petrol Pure, electric Pure and electric Luxury. Confirm equipment for the correct powertrain and model year. The availability of Luxury features in wider manufacturer material does not prove that every grade and engine combination is in IVF’s current quotation range.
Do not infer that from its appearance or outdoor positioning. Jaecoo’s UK petrol launch material describes front-wheel drive. Require the actual drivetrain in the quotation, and verify towing and accessory limits separately if they are part of your reason for choosing the vehicle.
That is the rounded battery label in the captured IVF catalogue. Jaecoo’s current UK model page states 60.9kWh. Obtain the precise supplied-car specification and its battery measurement basis before using range or charging figures; this pack does not make a universal numerical driving-range claim.
Choose the equipment that addresses your actual need. Try seating, temperature controls, visibility and child-seat access in the intended version. If a roof or comfort feature matters, require written confirmation rather than assuming the same trim name means the same equipment across petrol and electric cars.
Jaecoo UK states seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle, whichever comes first. High-voltage battery cover has separate eight-year or 100,000-mile terms. Exclusions and servicing conditions apply, so confirm the warranty schedule and registration date for the vehicle offered.
A zero-emission E5 uses the electric-car percentage path. The petrol 5 follows certified CO2 bands; the captured petrol entry shows 159g/km. Obtain the supplied vehicle’s P11D and certification and calculate the whole agreement period rather than treating both powertrains as the same benefit.
State petrol or electric, Pure or Luxury, your mileage, essential equipment and timing. For E5, explain where charging will happen. Ask for model year and the exact specification, then compare term, initial rental, maintenance and applicable fees consistently across funder proposals.
Review mileage, wear and damage standards, the collection procedure and the accessory list. Return charging cables where supplied and remove personal phone or app data. Contract hire has no contractual purchase option, and missing items or condition outside the funder’s standard may result in charges.
Bring your passenger, journey and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
