Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you choose between Omoda 5 petrol, SHS-H full hybrid and E5 electric leasing. This route contains different energy systems under one model family. Decide how you drive and whether you can charge, then compare the precise Knight or Noble specification and its business or personal terms.
Omoda 5 is worth considering when you want a compact SUV and are still deciding between petrol, a non-plug-in hybrid and a fully electric routine. The point of this page is to make that choice intelligible before a trim name or a displayed offer takes over. A business driver should separate vehicle fit from the personal tax calculation; both need to work.
Test Omoda with your regular passengers and equipment. Resolve towing, seven-seat or bulky-load requirements early.
Omoda 5 and two alternatives: different ownership tasks
| Model | Reason to consider it | Decision to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Omoda 5 family | Petrol, full hybrid or electric compact SUV decision | Choose the energy system before Knight or Noble equipment. |
| Omoda 7 | Separate vehicle and hybrid task | Read its own powertrain and charging requirements. |
| Jaecoo 5 | Alternative compact SUV body and cabin | Test seating, visibility and exact grade equipment. |
The 28 September 2026 grid contains six rows. Two are petrol 147 Knight and Noble; one is SHS-H Noble; two are 155kW electric Knight and Noble with the 61kWh label; one is a petrol Noble entry without the 147 designation. Keep that older-style petrol label separate until IVF confirms the actual offered car’s output, model year and equipment.
The current UK manufacturer page explicitly presents all three energy choices. It does not establish that each exists in every trim, or that every retained catalogue entry is still a current factory specification. Ask for the derivative code and equipment list that will appear on the order. If an alternative is proposed, compare the changed features and tax data before accepting it.
SHS-H is Omoda’s non-plug-in full-hybrid designation. It combines petrol and electric drive without requiring you to connect the car to an external charger. That can suit a driver who cannot arrange dependable charging but wants to investigate the hybrid’s response in mixed traffic. It is not a claim that the car operates without petrol throughout a commute.
Do not confuse SHS-H with SHS-P, the plug-in designation used elsewhere in the brand’s range. A long electric-distance figure or low PHEV benefit band from another model does not belong to the 5 SHS-H. Ask for the certified CO2 for the offered car and test the engine response, braking feel and low-speed manoeuvring in normal use.
Omoda’s current UK page identifies the 1.6-litre petrol with 147PS. The matching captured IVF rows name 147 explicitly, whereas the additional Noble row does not. It is sensible to ask why the descriptions differ before comparing quotes. Do not assume that a familiar body and badge make power, emissions and equipment unchanged between model years.
Drive the petrol automatic through familiar junctions, gradients and parking manoeuvres. If replacing a company car, identify what needs improving and use the demonstration to test those specific points.
The electric entries use the E5 identity in Omoda’s UK material. Obtain the battery specification and charging hardware for the exact Knight or Noble car, including supplied cables. This pack does not assign a universal range or charging duration to every E5 catalogue entry. Test-cycle figures must match battery, wheels, trim and model year before they become useful benchmarks.
Map the longest regular day and identify where a charge can happen with a workable alternative if that site is busy or unavailable. Consider colder conditions, motorway speed, passengers and heating. For a business pool car, assign responsibility for payment accounts and the return state of charge. Without that routine, a suitable electric vehicle can still be inconvenient to share.
Compare the correct powertrain’s Knight and Noble equipment, with particular attention to the seat, roof, cameras and climate functions you need. A specification headline can conceal a difference between petrol, hybrid and electric versions. Ask the supplier to demonstrate each essential feature on the actual grade and put that requirement in the written brief.
Try your own phone and the common controls while parked. Ask for assistance functions and their limitations to be demonstrated, particularly if employees will share the car.
Omoda 7 has its own page because it answers a different vehicle and powertrain task. Investigate it if the 5 does not meet your cabin or journey requirements, then evaluate charging and tax from the 7’s actual specification. The SHS label alone is not enough to establish whether an Omoda is a full hybrid or a plug-in.
Test Jaecoo 5 with the same occupants and load. Their corporate relationship does not establish equivalent equipment, comfort or servicing. Our electric car leasing guide helps you assess charging access.
Omoda’s current warranty states seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle, whichever comes first. High-voltage battery cover is separately described as eight years or 100,000 miles, with conditions and a defined capacity test. Neither headline covers every kind of wear, accident damage or maintenance. Obtain the relevant booklet for the registration and powertrain offered.
Locate the authorised workshop. Record the exact powertrain, model year and essential equipment, and compare maintenance separately from warranty.
Omoda’s three energy types must be calculated separately. The grid’s SHS-H Noble shows 120g/km and the 147 petrol entries show 168g/km. The following rows are conditional benchmarks for matching certification, alongside the zero-emission E5 path. Obtain the offered vehicle’s P11D rather than calculating from monthly hire payments.
The taxable benefit for an employee or director with private use normally starts with the supplied vehicle’s P11D value and the appropriate annual percentage. Apply the driver’s income tax position separately. A business’s hire payments are a different calculation; sole traders need advice on their own circumstances.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission E5 | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| SHS-H only if certified 120-124g/km | 30% | 30% | 31% | 32% |
| Petrol only if at maximum CO2 band | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.
Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is £440 a year in 2026/27 for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.
Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

The current UK model family includes petrol 5, SHS-H full hybrid and E5 electric, and the captured IVF grid contains all three. Specify the energy type at the start of an enquiry. A shared route and similar body do not give them the same charging requirements or company-car tax.
No. SHS-H is the non-plug-in full hybrid. It still needs petrol and should not inherit an electric-only distance or PHEV tax band from another model. SHS-P is the plug-in designation used elsewhere in the Omoda range, with a different charging task.
E5 is the electric version presented in Omoda UK’s model family. IVF’s captured entries are labelled 155kW, 61kWh, Knight and Noble. Confirm the exact specification and cables before quoting a range or charge time; this page makes no blanket numerical promise for all entries.
The grid includes current-style 147 Knight and Noble rows and a Noble row without that power label. The difference needs model-year and derivative confirmation. Omoda’s current UK page identifies 147PS petrol, but that figure is not automatically assigned to every older catalogue description.
List the equipment you will actually use and compare the correct powertrain’s specification sheets. Demonstrate seat adjustment, climate control, roof and visibility aids if essential. A shared grade name does not guarantee identical equipment across petrol, hybrid and electric versions.
Yes, if you are considering compact SUVs with those different cabin and body designs. Test the same passengers, luggage and parking task in each. Do not assume matching equipment or ownership arrangements because the brands are related; each exact quotation needs its own check.
Omoda UK states seven years or 100,000 miles for the vehicle, whichever comes first. High-voltage battery cover is separately eight years or 100,000 miles, subject to terms. Confirm servicing requirements, exclusions and the supplied car’s registration date before matching cover to the agreement.
No. A zero-emission E5 uses the electric percentage path. SHS-H follows its certified CO2; the captured Noble hybrid row shows 120g/km. The petrol entries have another CO2 position. Your accountant needs the exact P11D and certification to calculate the driver’s liability.
Ask IVF for the agreement type that matches the contracting party and use. Keep the vehicle, mileage, term, initial rental and maintenance consistent when comparing proposals, with the correct VAT presentation. A manufacturer warranty and a displayed grid offer do not replace the final written funder terms.
Keep the supplied keys, cables, accessories and service records. Check the return condition and mileage rules, and remove personal app and phone data when handing the car back. Contract hire does not include a contractual purchase option; additional contractual charges may apply at return.
