Which Jaecoo should you lease?

Choose Jaecoo 5 for the smaller petrol or electric SUV, Jaecoo 7 for petrol and hybrid choices, or the listed Jaecoo 8 when six seats fit your household. SHS-H needs no plug; SHS-P is rechargeable. A required seventh seat sends the enquiry elsewhere.

  • Current electric Jaecoo E5 has a 60.9 kWh battery.

  • The listed Jaecoo 8 version specifies 6 seats.

Jaecoo 7: plug-in range or a petrol drivetrain

Choose Jaecoo 7 SHS-H for full-hybrid use without external charging, or SHS-P when you can recharge regularly. Choose the specifically listed petrol Luxury if AWD is essential: the current UK SHS-H and SHS-P specifications are front-wheel drive.

For family bags, Jaecoo publishes 500 litres of boot space for the current 7 against 480 litres for the 5, a 20-litre difference. Both are five-seat choices; the comparison uses the current UK storage specifications, and the actual powertrain and grade still belong in the quotation.

Jaecoo 5: petrol and electric five-seat choices

Choose Jaecoo 5 for a shorter SUV body with a 480-litre published boot. IVF lists petrol Pure and 155 kW electric Pure/Luxury cars labelled 61 kWh, with the electric model described as E5 by Jaecoo. The UK electric headline is up to 248 miles WLTP combined.

Choose the electric car around your regular charging access and longer journeys. That range is the current UK E5 benchmark for its 60.9 kWh specification, not a claim for the petrol Pure, and speed, weather and load change the distance achieved.

Jaecoo 8: the listed six-seat layout is the key detail

Six seats are the deciding requirement for the listed Jaecoo 8 layout. IVF’s 1.5T SHS-P Executive is explicitly a six-seater, making the second-row arrangement and access to the back the first things to try with the family.

Choose another model if seven people must travel together. A higher equipment level will not create the missing place; for six-person use, match the luggage space and regular charging routine to the actual UK plug-in offered.

Read the current warranty and support terms

Choose the support arrangement alongside the vehicle, especially when a new Jaecoo will be the household’s only car. The August 2026 UK warranty improvements make the current policy the relevant document, with component limits and eligibility still applying.

Put the local workshop, assistance and optional maintenance in the same discussion. IVF’s electric car leasing hub offers a wider body comparison if E5’s passenger or luggage layout does not fit.

What IVF adds to your Jaecoo shortlist

Ask IVF to keep the Jaecoo 7’s SHS-H, SHS-P and petrol AWD versions separate, and carry Jaecoo 8’s six-seat limit into the shortlist. We can then compare the car that meets your passenger and driven-wheel requirements, rather than assuming Luxury or a larger model number supplies them.

Warranty, maintenance and the full lease term

Jaecoo’s UK vehicle warranty headline is seven years or 100,000 miles, subject to the applicable terms. The August 2026 Omoda and Jaecoo update extends specified component cover retrospectively to UK cars, while some components retain different mileage limits.

The supplied car’s policy must cover its intended use, including any hire/rental classification, battery-capacity conditions and service requirements. Ask IVF to resolve that eligibility for the proposed agreement.

Compare optional maintenance by its actual servicing and tyre provisions. Insurance, roadside assistance and return obligations sit alongside the warranty in the full running commitment.

Jaecoo company-car tax: use the exact vehicle

These electric Jaecoo 5 and SHS-H Jaecoo 7 examples use different tax bases. SHS-P cars need their own certified CO2 and electric range before an applicable PHEV rate can be selected.

Read the general company-car BiK rules. Jaecoo 5 electric belongs in the zero-emission class; Jaecoo 7 SHS-H is a full hybrid, while SHS-P entries in 7 and 8 require plug-in tax data.

From Jaecoo shortlist to handover

  1. Decide between Jaecoo 5, Jaecoo 7 and the six-seat Jaecoo 8 before comparing equipment grades.
  2. Compare initial and monthly rentals, term, mileage, optional maintenance, fees and early-termination conditions on the same basis.
  3. For Jaecoo 7, write SHS-H, SHS-P or petrol AWD into the supply request rather than relying on the trim name.
  4. Agree return standards and charges for excess mileage, damage beyond fair wear and tear or missing equipment, with insurance and fuel or electricity budgeted separately.

Compare the correct seats and hybrid system

Compare Jaecoo 7 SHS-P with Geely Starray EM-i on the same charging and passenger brief.

For an alternative passenger layout, compare Jaecoo 8 with Mazda CX-80. Both require exact seat-count confirmation, and the powertrain must also match your intended comparison.

Jaecoo leasing questions

Settle the practical details before choosing your car and contract.

What is the difference between SHS-H and SHS-P?

SHS-H identifies the full-hybrid Jaecoo 7 entries; SHS-P identifies plug-in hybrid entries. External charging and certified electric-range tax inputs apply to the plug-in assessment, not automatically to the full hybrid.

Is every Jaecoo 5 electric?

No. The 5 route includes petrol Pure and electric Pure or Luxury entries. The electric entries carry a 61kWh battery label and are described as E5 in the UK manufacturer range.

Does the listed Jaecoo 8 have seven seats?

The Jaecoo 8 derivatives reviewed here explicitly specify six seats. They do not meet a seven-person requirement. Select the actual layout in the quotation and compare luggage with the required seats in use; do not infer seat count from the model number or another market’s specification.

Does choosing a Jaecoo 7 hybrid give me all-wheel drive?

No. The current UK SHS-H full hybrid and SHS-P plug-in hybrid specifications are front-wheel drive. The 1.6T petrol Luxury is the AWD comparison, while petrol Deluxe is front-wheel drive. Match the actual supplied model year and derivative. Choose between charging, petrol-only refuelling and AWD deliberately; a grade name does not settle all three.

Can combined SHS range determine company-car tax?

No. A plug-in assessment needs the supplied vehicle’s certified electric-only range and CO2, plus P11D. Combined petrol-and-electric distance is a different measure.

Did Jaecoo’s UK warranty change in 2026?

The August 2026 Omoda and Jaecoo update extended specified component cover retrospectively for UK cars. The seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle headline remains subject to the current policy, component limits and eligibility.

Should I compare Jaecoo 7 and 8 on equipment alone?

No. Start with the actual seating and luggage arrangement, then the powertrain, charging and driven wheels. The 8 is a six-seat plug-in, which may answer a different passenger brief from a 7.

Is maintenance included in a Jaecoo lease?

Maintenance is optional: check that the quotation itemises servicing, tyres and exclusions for your chosen Jaecoo. Warranty cover for defects is separate from routine maintenance, insurance, energy and return charges.

What should I confirm before ordering?

For Jaecoo 7, write SHS-H, SHS-P or petrol AWD into the supply request rather than relying on the trim name. Compare the full hire commitment, including early termination and end-of-contract charges.
