Your MG S6 leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare MG S6 leasing for a five-seat electric SUV. MG calls the current UK model MGS6 EV, with SE Long Range, Trophy Long Range and Trophy Dual Motor versions. Choose rear-wheel or all-wheel drive around real journeys, then confirm equipment, charging and the agreement.

MG S6 business and personal leasing: rear drive or dual motor?

The MG S6 is worth assessing when you need an electric SUV with family space and want a clear choice between rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive dual-motor version. MG’s UK naming is MGS6 EV, while IVF’s route uses MG S6. Both refer here to the electric model, not to the separate MG HS or a petrol SUV.

A business driver’s decision should start with the longest regular route, charging access and the equipment used every day. A private household should add passenger comfort, child-seat access and luggage. The appeal of a higher output figure should not displace those tests. If you do not need the dual-motor arrangement, compare the rear-drive Long Range models first and establish what the Trophy equipment actually adds.

The MGS6 EV sits beside the separate MGS5 EV in the MG estate. Compare their actual cabin and parking fit if the size requirement is unresolved. Do not use a neighbouring model’s range, battery or charging figures to fill a gap in an S6 quotation. The useful result is the correct car for the whole term, with its own documented specification.

MG S6 leasing: key facts

  • MG’s current UK name is MGS6 EV; IVF’s route calls the model MG S6 and lists three electric derivatives.
  • The UK range uses a battery described as 77 kWh, with 180 kW rear-drive Long Range versions or a 266 kW Trophy Dual Motor.
  • The UK WLTP benchmark is up to 329 miles for the rear-drive Long Range models and up to 301 miles for Trophy Dual Motor; confirm exact supplied specification and conditions.
  • MG quotes 10-80% charging in 38 minutes under suitable DC conditions for the stated range; station output, temperature and battery state affect results.
  • MG’s UK terms issued 1 July 2026 give general cover up to seven years/80,000 miles, with first-year and component exceptions, plus separate high-voltage battery provisions; obtain the terms for the supplied car.
  • GOV.UK: zero-emission company-car BiK is 4% in 2026/27, rising to 9% in 2029/30.

The three MGS6 EV derivatives listed by IVF

The current route contains 180kW SE EV Long Range 77kWh 5dr Auto, 180kW Trophy EV Long Range 77kWh 5dr Auto and 266kW Trophy EV Dual Motor 77kWh 5dr Auto. MG’s UK model information confirms the two rear-drive Long Range versions and the all-wheel-drive Trophy Dual Motor. Ask IVF to keep the exact derivative name and model year on the quotation.

The current UK figures give up to 329 miles WLTP combined for SE and Trophy Long Range, and up to 301 miles for Trophy Dual Motor. These are specification-specific benchmarks, not interchangeable range promises. Confirm the supplied wheels and options, then allow for weather, heating, speed, load and battery condition when judging your own route.

Trophy Long Range and Trophy Dual Motor should not be confused merely because both have Trophy equipment. The motor layout changes, and the official range benchmark changes with it. Equally, a rear-drive SE quote is not the same specification as a rear-drive Trophy quote. Separate the equipment decision from the drivetrain decision so you can identify which change is actually useful.

What Trophy equipment contributes to the family or business brief

MG’s current UK page identifies front-seat ventilation, heated outer rear seats and a panoramic roof as Trophy equipment. If rear passengers travel regularly, those may be relevant differences. If the car is mostly used by one person commuting, their importance may be different. Ask for the complete supplied specification and test whether the seat and roof arrangement suit the occupants.

Bring your ordinary luggage to a viewing rather than relying on one cargo-volume headline. Check the boot opening, underfloor space, cable storage and the reach to close the tailgate. MG describes front storage as well, but storage measurements and configuration differ by drivetrain. The practical question is whether your bags and charging equipment fit securely without compromising the rear seats you need.

For an employee car, agree the essential equipment with the driver before choosing a grade. Try the navigation, phone integration and climate controls during a proper demonstration. Check the seating position and visibility at parking speed as well as on a faster road. These are better acceptance criteria than assuming every extra feature will be valuable to every driver.

Make charging and support part of the MGS6 decision

MG quotes 38 minutes for a 10-80% DC charging session under the stated suitable conditions. That describes a particular battery window, not a complete refill or a promise for every public charger. The station’s available output, battery temperature and starting state of charge all matter. Compare another car using the same window before drawing conclusions about travel time.

At home, establish the installation and parking arrangement before deciding that overnight charging is settled. At work, check whether you can access the bay reliably and whether payment arrangements are clear. For long journeys, identify a second charging location rather than relying on a single stop. Include the most demanding normal trip in the brief you give IVF.

MG’s UK terms issued 1 July 2026 give general cover up to seven years or 80,000 miles, with a first-year provision and shorter limits for some components. Separate high-voltage battery cover is stated as eight years or 100,000 miles, subject to conditions. Read the actual terms for your car and use. Servicing, tyres and insurance remain separate, so confirm workshop access and maintenance inclusions.

MG S6 company-car tax across the lease

All three MGS6 EV derivatives described here are zero-emission electric cars and use the same company-car percentage path. Their P11D values can differ, so the same percentage does not mean the same personal tax bill. Choose the equipment and drive layout first, then compare the full benefit calculation across every tax year in the proposed term.

For an employee or director with private use, the taxable benefit normally starts with the car’s P11D value multiplied by the applicable BiK percentage. Personal tax then depends on the individual’s income tax rate and any relevant adjustments. The percentage is not the tax rate applied to the lease rental. A sole trader’s own business car use follows different rules.

The agreement can cross several tax years. Compare the whole path, not just the percentage in the year the car arrives.

Tax information checked 27 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, the standard annual VED payment after the first year is £200 before any supplement. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars currently have a £10 first-year rate. These cash rates apply to 2026/27 only; later annual VED rates are not confirmed here. Ask how the funder treats tax increases during your agreement.

Expensive Car Supplement. The Expensive Car Supplement is currently £440 a year for five years from the second licence. The list-price threshold is more than £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, or more than £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Use the published list price before discounts, including relevant options, and check the registration date. Plug-in hybrids do not receive the electric-car threshold. GOV.UK explains VED and the supplement.

Planned eVED. The government plans Electric Vehicle Excise Duty (eVED) from April 2028, alongside VED: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p per mile for plug-in hybrids. This is proposed for April 2028, subject to legislation and implementation; it is not a charge currently in force. The stated rates are planned starting rates, with CPI uprating proposed from 2029/30 and later cash rates not confirmed. An agreement spanning introduction needs the funder’s written treatment of the charge and later changes. Check the government’s consultation response and final implementation guidance before committing.

VAT and the business accounts

VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.

Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.

A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

MG S6 leasing questions

Is MG S6 the same model as MGS6 EV?

On this IVF route, MG S6 refers to the electric SUV that MG UK names MGS6 EV. The captured catalogue contains its SE Long Range, Trophy Long Range and Trophy Dual Motor versions. MG HS and MGS5 EV are separate models.

Which MGS6 EV versions are rear-wheel drive?

The UK SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range use the 180 kW rear-drive layout. Trophy Dual Motor uses the 266 kW all-wheel-drive arrangement. Confirm the full derivative on the quotation rather than relying on the Trophy name alone.

What is the official MGS6 EV range?

MG quotes up to 329 miles WLTP combined for the rear-drive Long Range models and up to 301 miles for Trophy Dual Motor. Verify the supplied specification. Real distance varies with conditions, speed, heating, load and battery condition, so plan a reserve.

Can I choose MGS6 EV business contract hire?

IVF can discuss the appropriate vehicle and agreement, subject to supply confirmation, status and funder criteria. For private-use company-car tax, the electric percentage multiplies P11D value. The driver’s income tax rate then determines the personal tax, with relevant adjustments.

How long does an MGS6 EV charging stop take?

MG’s benchmark is 38 minutes from 10% to 80% with suitable DC equipment and conditions for the stated range. It is not a full-charge time or a promise for every stop. Battery temperature, starting charge and station output affect the result.

What does Trophy add that I should consider?

MG’s current UK page places front-seat ventilation, heated outer rear seats and a panoramic roof on Trophy models. Confirm the exact specification and try it with your passengers. Trophy equipment and the dual-motor drivetrain are separate decisions.

Should I compare MGS6 EV with MGS5 EV?

Yes, if you are still deciding how much vehicle and cabin space you need. Try both with normal luggage and passengers. Keep their battery, range and charging specifications separate, and compare equivalent contract terms rather than transferring figures between models.

Does the Dual Motor version have the same range as Long Range?

No. MG publishes a different WLTP benchmark for Trophy Dual Motor. It should be chosen for its specific drivetrain and equipment needs, not on the assumption that the rear-drive range figure applies. Confirm the car’s certified specification before ordering.

What should I check about MG’s warranty?

MG’s July 2026 UK terms describe general cover up to seven years/80,000 miles, with first-year and component exceptions, plus separate battery provisions. Obtain the applicable terms and check mileage, servicing and use restrictions. The headline does not cover every repair or routine cost.

What details make an MG S6 quotation useful?

State SE or Trophy, rear-drive or Dual Motor, annual mileage, regular passengers and charging access. Agree term, initial rental and maintenance basis. Ask for equipment, supplied cables, insurance responsibilities and the treatment of tax changes in the written quotation.
