Your Peugeot Partner leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps businesses choose Peugeot Partner contract hire around the tools, people and journeys that travel every day. Compare the compact M and longer XL bodies, diesel and E-Partner electric versions, and load-through equipment. Match the precise derivative to your payload and charging needs before requesting a quotation.

Peugeot Partner business leasing: make the working layout count

A Partner makes sense when your business needs a compact van to act as a mobile store rather than a miniature removal vehicle. An electrician carrying organised boxes and cable, a technician with service parts, or a maintenance business visiting several sites can benefit from a load area that is easy to organise. Start with your equipment layout. The trim badge comes after the drawers, cases and longest materials have somewhere secure to go.

A compact footprint becomes a false economy in working time if you regularly leave essential kit behind or make a second collection. If a crew travels with substantial equipment, the XL crew version needs its own load calculation. If tall cabinets, large machinery or bulky finished goods are routine, move the discussion to the Expert. The right Partner is the one that handles a normal full working day without relying on an improvised loading arrangement.

Peugeot Partner leasing: key facts

  • Partner M panel van: 1,817mm floor load length behind the bulkhead; XL: 2,167mm, in the August 2026 UK guide.
  • The same guide gives ordinary load volumes of 3.3m³ for M and 3.9m³ for XL, before using the load-through arrangement.
  • E-Partner M Professional Plus: 759kg maximum indicative payload in the named UK guide; driver and fitted equipment must be allowed for.
  • E-Partner XL Professional Plus: 691kg indicative payload. The longer body does not automatically carry more weight.
  • Current guide: diesel and electric panel vans plus an XL crew configuration. Catalogue labels also include older specifications.
  • 2026/27 GOV.UK standard van benefit value: £4,170 where chargeable; zero-emission van benefit is nil under the current rule.

These vans share a platform family. Compare UK derivative documents and local support; this table is a decision guide, not a ranking of reliability or cost.

M, XL and load-through space are different decisions

Peugeot's UK guide effective 26 August 2026 lists M and XL panel vans with floor lengths of 1,817mm and 2,167mm behind the bulkhead. Maximum internal heights are 1,200mm for M and 1,270mm for XL in that table, with 1,229mm between the wheel arches. Treat those as body benchmarks before lining, shelving or a raised floor. Measure the door aperture and the diagonal needed to turn your largest case into position as well as the final floor space.

The extended lengths of 3,090mm for M and 3,440mm for XL use the specified folding-seat/load-through arrangement. They describe a narrow route into the cab, not a full-width rectangular cargo bay. Pipes or trunking might use it; a wide appliance cannot. Check which passenger place becomes unavailable, the bulkhead opening and the restraint method. A three-person working day and a long-materials day may require different loading plans.

Payload after the workshop equipment is fitted

The current guide gives the E-Partner M Professional Plus an indicative maximum payload of 759kg and the corresponding XL 691kg. These are named-version figures, not a promise for every Partner. Peugeot's weight definitions place the driver within the payload allowance. Shelving, lining, roof equipment, occupants and carried stock all need to be included on the correct basis; do not compare one manufacturer's driver-inclusive figure with another's driver-exclusive figure without adjustment.

Towing is a separate specification. The electric panel-van technical rows show a 750kg maximum braked trailer benchmark, subject to the exact vehicle and combination limits. Do not carry a diesel towing assumption across to E-Partner. Tell IVF what trailer and equipment you use, including the loaded trailer mass. A bigger van may be the sensible discussion where a dense load and regular towing must happen together.

Diesel Partner or E-Partner on your actual routes

Peugeot lists the E-Partner alongside diesel versions in its UK range, checked 28 September 2026. The electronic guide describes a 100kW electric motor and a 52kWh gross, 50.7kWh net battery. Its technical table gives a 213-mile WLTP combined benchmark, while other range rows differ. That figure is a comparison reference for the named guide, not a confirmed range for every IVF listing. Ask for the certified figure for the proposed model year, trim and equipment before accepting a vehicle.

The charging specification includes DC capability up to 100kW. This is peak vehicle capability, not a sustained charging speed or a promise at any public charger; it needs confirming against the quoted E-Partner. Plan around the energy you replace during a normal overnight stop, with a reserve for an additional call. Cold weather, motorway driving, load and cabin heating can reduce the distance available. A loaded route trial is more useful than assuming the brochure maximum will cover every day.

Diesel remains a useful comparison for changing regional routes, towing or sites without reliable charging. The current diesel range includes 1.5 BlueHDi manual and automatic choices, but the quotation must identify the actual output and gearbox. For repeated short appointments, review the operating pattern and servicing requirements with the supplying dealer. Choose the powertrain for the working schedule, then compare the full contract and operating assumptions on that same schedule.

Read the Partner catalogue by generation and job

IVF's catalogue check on 28 September found Professional, Professional Plus and Asphalt labels, Standard/Long and M/XL body wording, electric entries and 1.5 BlueHDi diesel versions. It also returned a 1.2 PureTech petrol Professional label. The current UK guide focuses on diesel and electric. That petrol catalogue entry needs separate supply and model-year confirmation; its presence is not evidence that Peugeot currently lists a new petrol Partner in the same range.

Partner, Vauxhall Combo Cargo and Toyota Proace City are related compact vans from the Stellantis collaboration. Shared architecture does not make their UK equipment, support terms or quoted vehicles identical. Peugeot's load-through and trim packaging should be compared with Vauxhall's FlexCargo equipment and Toyota's Smart Cargo and service-activated warranty arrangements. Compare an equivalent working layout, then check which local workshop can support it.

Plan service access before a van becomes your workshop

A breakdown affects the technician's diary as well as the vehicle. Ask the proposed Peugeot service outlet about workshop access for your body size, routine booking arrangements and any support for electric vans. Establish what recovery and replacement-vehicle terms actually apply. A courtesy vehicle, where offered, may not take your shelving, specialist tools or full load, so it should not be treated as a complete continuity plan.

Keep battery warranty, whole-vehicle warranty and paid maintenance separate. The Partner guide quotes an electric traction-battery warranty of eight years or 100,000 miles with a 70% capacity condition; obtain the applicable terms for the vehicle supplied. That does not cover every service item or give unrestricted protection for modifications. For a working van, the practical question is who authorises and pays for repairs to the base vehicle, added equipment and accessories.

Partner van tax: 2026/27 and the years ahead

For an employee or director with chargeable private use of a qualifying diesel panel van, the 2026/27 standard van benefit is £4,170. Employer-provided private fuel can add a separate £798 benefit. These are taxable benefit values, not the employee's tax bill and not figures applied to the lease rental. Personal tax depends on the individual's circumstances.

A qualifying zero-emission E-Partner has a van benefit value of 0% of £4,170, or nil, under the current rule. Business use, commuting and insignificant other private use can fall within an exemption when the conditions are met. Keep an appropriate use policy and records; the fact that a van is leased by a company does not itself establish an exemption.

For a term spanning 2027/28, 2028/29 or 2029/30, review the van rules and annual values as they are published. Do not apply the electric company-car percentage path to a commercial Partner. Confirm classification and use with your accountant, particularly if seating or bodywork changes.

GOV.UK van benefit values and the van-use exemptions checked 28 September 2026. Tax treatment depends on circumstances and can change.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, a qualifying TC39 light goods vehicle registered from 1 March 2001 and not exceeding 3,500kg revenue weight has a £360 single annual payment. Zero-emission vans are included. Check the actual tax class and the funder’s treatment of increases. GOV.UK light goods rates checked 28 September 2026.

Expensive Car Supplement. The car Expensive Car Supplement does not apply simply because a TC39 Partner has a high list price. Verify the registration and tax category rather than borrowing a passenger-car calculation.

Planned eVED. The government’s July 2026 eVED consultation response excludes vans from the tax at its planned April 2028 introduction. It does not establish a permanent exemption from future policy. Read the published eVED scope.

VAT and the business accounts

For a VAT-registered business, VAT recovery on van leasing depends on business use, the VAT rules and the business’s own position. Do not apply the passenger-car rental block automatically to a panel van. HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance and our business leasing VAT guide explain the starting point.

Ask your accountant how to treat the hire agreement, fitted workshop equipment and any private use. Capital allowances and VAT do not follow automatically from the benefit-in-kind classification. No universal deduction or off-balance-sheet outcome is assumed here.

Discuss the vehicle and agreement together. Call 01752 429950 or request a callback with your business requirements.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, crew, loads, towing, fitted equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Peugeot Partner leasing questions

Is the Peugeot Partner suitable for a mobile workshop?

It can suit organised tools and service parts, provided the finished rack layout, heaviest working load and door access fit the chosen body. Include permanent equipment and occupants in the weight calculation. Move to an Expert if the normal job needs substantially more space.

What is the difference between Partner M and XL?

The August 2026 UK guide gives panel-van floor lengths behind the bulkhead of 1,817mm for M and 2,167mm for XL. XL adds space, but its electric indicative payload is lower in the named Professional Plus rows. Check the complete derivative.

Does the load-through length apply across the whole van?

No. The extended length relies on the specified bulkhead opening and folding passenger-seat arrangement. It creates a route for suitable long items rather than a full-width extension. Check seat availability and how the load will be restrained.

Can IVF discuss electric Partner leasing?

Yes. E-Partner is listed by Peugeot UK and appears in the IVF catalogue checked on 28 September 2026. A quotation still needs to confirm the exact battery specification, model year, equipment and supply position; the catalogue is not a stock promise.

How much can an E-Partner carry?

The current UK guide lists 759kg maximum indicative payload for M Professional Plus and 691kg for XL Professional Plus. Those figures require allowances for the driver and fitted equipment under the manufacturer’s definitions and do not certify every listed van.

Should I choose Professional Plus or Asphalt?

Compare the equipment that affects your work: load-through seating, visibility systems, security and cabin controls. Ask for a model-year equipment schedule because a trim name alone does not prove a feature is fitted.

Why does the catalogue include a petrol Partner?

IVF’s September catalogue includes a 1.2 PureTech petrol label alongside diesel and electric entries. Peugeot’s current guide focuses on diesel and electric, so the petrol entry requires separate age, specification and supply confirmation before it can be considered.

Is the Partner related to the Vauxhall Combo?

Yes. Partner and Combo belong to the same compact Stellantis van family, with Toyota Proace City also related. Compare the UK equipment, body configuration, warranty conditions and servicing arrangements rather than assuming every badge offers an identical vehicle.

Does a business lease remove all van tax?

No. Benefit-in-kind, VAT recovery and business deductions depend on classification, use and the taxpayer. A qualifying zero-emission van currently has nil van benefit, but that does not determine every other tax or accounting outcome. Ask your accountant.

What should I send with a Partner enquiry?

Give IVF the longest item, heaviest load, required occupants, preferred body and gearbox, annual mileage and charging access if considering electric. Include proposed shelving or roof equipment so the quotation can cover the finished working vehicle.
