Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you specify Vauxhall Combo Cargo leasing for repeatable working duties. Compare M and XL panel vans, the crew layout and Combo Electric, with particular attention to FlexCargo and equipment differences between Prime, Prime Plus and Pro. Confirm the working payload and exact model year before choosing.
The Combo Cargo is worth shortlisting when several people need to do the same kind of work from a compact van. A property services team, a regional repair operation or a business replacing a small existing fleet can benefit from an agreed equipment specification that drivers recognise. Instead of choosing whichever trim label appears first, define the controls, loading method and visibility equipment that should be common across every vehicle.
Combo is less appropriate if your load routinely needs standing height or if a full crew and bulky machinery must travel together. It also deserves a careful weight check where dense materials are carried: compact does not mean every derivative has the same payload. For heavier or larger service duties, compare Vivaro before signing off the fleet standard. Keeping two appropriate van sizes can be more practical than forcing every job into one body.
Building a repeatable fleet specification? Tell us which seats, visibility aids and load-access features every driver needs.
| Model | Useful point of comparison | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Vauxhall Combo Cargo | FlexCargo, Prime Plus/Pro equipment and driver consistency. | Model-year equipment list and completed fit-out weight. |
| Peugeot Partner | Professional Plus/Asphalt cabin and loading provision. | Equivalent seating, door arrangement and visibility equipment. |
| Toyota Proace City | Toyota Professional support and conditional warranty after servicing. | Written eligibility, local service capacity and mileage conditions. |
Shared platform origins do not settle which UK specification is right for your fleet. Compare actual vehicles and support terms.
The current Vauxhall electronic guide is dated 26 August 2026 and identifies Model Year 2027 C0. It lists Prime Plus and Pro panel-van equipment alongside Prime crew provision. IVF also has earlier Prime catalogue entries. These names can coexist while referring to different production specifications. Ask for the model year and the equipment codes on each quotation, especially when replacing vans over several months.
A reversing camera and a digital rear-view mirror answer different questions. The first helps manoeuvring; the second can provide a rear view when solid doors obscure it. Establish exactly which equipment comes with Pro or an options pack on your vehicle. Also check how a driver adjusts alerts, pairs a work phone and reaches controls. A brief familiarisation plan helps a mixed group use the equipment consistently without claiming that assistance systems prevent every incident.
The UK guide gives 1,817mm behind the bulkhead for an M panel van and 2,167mm for XL. Between the wheel arches, the load width is 1,229mm. These measurements help you sketch storage, but you still need to measure the opening and turning space for an awkward item. The van can have sufficient floor area while the object cannot pass through a door in its working orientation.
Load-through provision extends the quoted length to 3,090mm for M or 3,440mm for XL when the specified passenger-seat arrangement is folded. Use that allowance for compatible narrow materials, not as a replacement for a longer full-width body. If three people must occupy the front seats during the same journey, explain that before a quotation is built around the extended loading figure.
In the current guide, electric M Prime Plus and Pro panel-van rows show 759kg maximum indicative payload; the XL equivalents show 691kg. Vauxhall's definitions include the driver within the payload figure. Start with that named version, deduct the relevant occupants and installed equipment, then allow for the contents. The usable working allowance will be lower than the headline number once the van has been prepared for service.
A crew van changes the calculation again. Passengers and the second-row arrangement occupy both weight and space. Do not simply add a crew row to a panel-van payload estimate. Give IVF the people count and the equipment that must still be carried, and ask for the relevant crew derivative's weight and dimension sheet. Where there is insufficient margin, a Vivaro Doublecab may deserve investigation.
Vauxhall continues to list Combo Electric in the UK, checked on 28 September 2026. The current guide specifies a 100kW motor with a 52kWh gross, 50.7kWh net battery. Its technical section gives a 213-mile WLTP combined reference, while the pricing section includes a different range interval. Treat 213 miles as that technical-table benchmark and obtain the certified figure for the actual IVF derivative, trim and options; it is not a route guarantee.
The same technical material specifies DC capability up to 100kW and a 0-80% reference time of 30 minutes under the manufacturer's conditions. Verify both against the vehicle quoted. Actual charging depends on temperature, the charger, the battery's starting state and power available. A scheduled work break only helps if a suitable charger is reachable and available, with room for the van and anything it is towing.
For a shared electric fleet, agree who plugs in, who checks a successful charge and who responds if a vehicle has not charged overnight. Record the longest shift, any emergency mileage and the reserve needed in poor weather. A diesel Combo can remain a useful comparison where call-outs are unpredictable or parking has no reliable electrical supply. Choose from the real duty pattern rather than assuming that all compact service routes are alike.
The September catalogue capture contains Prime, Prime Plus and Pro wording, diesel 1.5 Turbo D entries and 52kWh electric labels. It includes M Cargo, XL and Crew Van descriptions, plus a reduced-payload diesel entry. These are catalogue choices for investigation, not a list of vans ready to leave a depot. Ask IVF to confirm supply, model year and the precise equipment attached to the selected description.
Combo shares its platform family with Peugeot Partner and Toyota Proace City. For a fleet, the useful differences may be the agreed equipment schedule, local dealer access and warranty process rather than basic body dimensions. Compare Vauxhall's specification and service arrangement directly with the Partner and Toyota alternatives. Avoid assuming that a component relationship creates identical warranty coverage or interchangeable approved conversion paperwork.
Vauxhall's current battery terms in the guide state eight years or 100,000 miles with a 70% capacity threshold, subject to the applicable warranty conditions. This is separate from the whole-vehicle warranty and any maintenance package. Check how your expected mileage compares with the cover and how repairs are authorised. A maintenance option should specify servicing, wear items and tyres rather than leaving the driver to assume that every visit is included.
A commercial Combo used privately by an employee or director can create a van benefit. For 2026/27 the standard taxable value is £4,170, with a separate £798 value where employer-provided fuel for private journeys is chargeable. The employee pays tax according to their own position; these sums are not the annual lease cost.
The current zero-emission van rule sets a qualifying Combo Electric’s benefit at 0% of the standard £4,170 value, so nil. A working-use exemption may also apply to other qualifying vans where business travel, commuting and insignificant private use meet the conditions. Classification, actual use and records matter; a company logo on the door does not decide the tax result.
Budgeting across 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30 requires later annual van values and any rule changes to be checked when published. Do not import passenger-car BiK bands into this page. Check the GOV.UK van values and permitted-use exemptions. Checked 28 September 2026; ask your accountant to apply the rules to your business.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). The 2026/27 TC39 rate is £360 for one annual payment where the light goods vehicle was registered from 1 March 2001 and has revenue weight up to 3,500kg. This includes qualifying electric vans. Check the registration class and how a funder passes on later increases. Official light goods VED table checked 28 September 2026.
Expensive Car Supplement. A TC39 commercial Combo does not acquire the car Expensive Car Supplement because optional equipment raises its list price. Check category and registration documents before making a comparison with a passenger vehicle.
Planned eVED. Vans are outside the planned April 2028 introduction of eVED in the July 2026 government response. Keep future policy separate from the current agreement assumptions. Government eVED consultation response.
A VAT-registered operator should assess the business-use proportion and normal recovery conditions for a leased van. The car rental VAT restriction is not a default rule for Combo Cargo. Read our van leasing VAT guidance alongside HMRC Notice 700/64.
Capital allowances, hire deductions and the treatment of installed equipment require the accountant’s view of the actual arrangement. Benefit-in-kind treatment does not establish a capital-allowance entitlement, and a lease should not be described as universally off the balance sheet.
Discuss the vehicle and agreement together. Call 01752 429950 or request a callback with your business requirements.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, crew, loads, towing, fitted equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Vauxhall van leasing, all van leasing, small van leasing, electric van leasing, VAT on business van leasing, Peugeot Partner leasing, Toyota Proace City leasing, the next size up to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Ready to narrow the choice? Tell us the body, load, annual mileage and equipment you need.
No. This page concerns the commercial van and its working load area. Combo Life is a passenger model with a different customer task. Check vehicle classification and the exact body on any quotation rather than treating the names as interchangeable.
M can work where compact parking and organised equipment are the priority; XL gives more floor length. Select the body from the largest carried item, side-door access and finished rack layout, then verify payload after the installation.
It combines an adaptable passenger-seat arrangement with a bulkhead load-through opening on specified versions. It can accommodate suitable long items, but the extended length is not available across the whole width and may affect passenger seating. Confirm it is fitted.
Use the current model-year schedule to compare infotainment, navigation, cameras, security and cabin equipment. Earlier Prime descriptions also remain in the catalogue. The trim name alone is insufficient to confirm the equipment of the van offered.
The UK range and IVF catalogue include XL crew descriptions. Ask for the exact seat layout, remaining cargo space and working payload with everyone aboard. A crew version does not retain all the capacity of the corresponding panel van.
Use the certified range of the quoted vehicle as a starting point, then assess loaded routes, weather, motorway use and charging access. The current guide contains differing range figures in different tables, so IVF should reconcile the derivative before a route decision is made.
No. For example, the current electric Prime Plus guide lists 759kg indicative payload for M and 691kg for XL. Those figures need the correct driver and equipment allowances and must be checked against the actual vehicle.
Yes. They share compact Stellantis van architecture, with Toyota Proace City also related. UK equipment, warranty conditions, dealer arrangements and the specification supplied can differ, so compare those details for the job your fleet performs.
Battery warranty and a maintenance agreement are different protections. Ask for both sets of terms, including mileage limits, battery conditions, servicing, tyres and wear items. Do not assume one document covers everything.
Send the number of vehicles, required seats and body lengths, essential equipment, fit-out plan, annual mileage and replacement schedule. For electric vans, include parking locations, available charging and the longest working shift.
Bring your load, crew, route and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
