Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Suzuki Vitara leasing around its petrol mild-hybrid powertrain, gearbox and optional ALLGRIP requirements. The Vitara is separate from the fully electric e Vitara. Choose the actual passenger and journey brief first, then check the quoted trim, company-car tax and agreement across the planned term.
The Vitara is worth investigating when you want a compact SUV without making external charging part of daily life. The main practical choices are the gearbox, the need for ALLGRIP and the equipment used repeatedly. It can be a considered option for mixed urban and rural journeys, provided the cabin and luggage arrangement meet the actual brief.
We would make the traction requirement specific before looking at trim. Someone travelling on steep rural access roads may ask a different question from a driver who simply likes a raised seating position. Identify the surfaces, gradients and seasonal conditions involved, then have the exact drivetrain and tyres checked. Four-wheel drive is not a substitute for suitable tyres or careful speed selection.

Vitara, S-Cross and e Vitara: choose the correct Suzuki task
| Model | Why it belongs on the shortlist | Decision to settle |
|---|---|---|
| Suzuki Vitara | Petrol mild-hybrid SUV with selected ALLGRIP choices | Manual or automatic, driven wheels and essential equipment |
| Suzuki S-Cross | Another Suzuki passenger and luggage layout | Whether the cabin better accommodates the regular load |
| Suzuki e Vitara | Separate battery-electric SUV proposition | Charging access and the electric company-car calculation |
Suzuki’s UK model page checked on 28 September 2026 describes mild-hybrid technology with manual or automatic transmission, Motion and Ultra models and a Kuro special edition. It explicitly limits ALLGRIP availability to selected variants. These are the current manufacturer distinctions that matter when reading the IVF offer grid.
The captured IVF catalogue contains eight derivative links, all carrying 1.4 Boosterjet MHEV 109 wording. It separates Motion and Ultra gearbox choices and specific Ultra ALLGRIP and Kuro ALLGRIP entries. Those labels identify options to confirm, rather than proving that every possible combination of trim, gearbox and driven wheels can be ordered.
Suzuki has used different hybrid descriptions over time. For this page, the current UK mild-hybrid range controls the explanation; an older full-hybrid description should not be applied to the quoted car. Ask for the model year, engine, transmission and driven-wheel specification together, then check equipment against that exact entry.
A route involving slippery inclines or changing rural surfaces may justify investigating ALLGRIP. Explain that use to IVF rather than asking vaguely for a capable SUV. Confirm whether the relevant roads and activities are permitted by the funder and insurer, and investigate any towing or accessory requirements separately from the traction system.
If your travel is mainly on ordinary surfaced roads, drive the two-wheel-drive option as part of the comparison. A preference for an SUV driving position does not by itself create a requirement for four-wheel drive. Compare the offered cars’ certified emissions and insurance costs along with their day-to-day suitability before deciding which configuration earns its place in the brief.
For winter travel, consider tyres, visibility, braking distances and whether journeys can be deferred in severe conditions. A selectable drive system helps manage traction within its limits; it cannot make every road safe or remove the responsibility to judge conditions. Avoid choosing the car around a capability that would only be relevant to journeys you do not actually make.
A raised driving position can be useful, but comfort is personal. Set the seat and steering wheel for the main driver and check the rear seat immediately behind. If more than one person will drive, repeat the adjustment for both. This is particularly important for a shared business car where the shortest and tallest drivers may need very different settings.
Inspect the luggage floor and the shape of the opening with the seats occupied. A maximum figure with the rear seats folded is not the right measure for a family journey or airport run with colleagues. Check whether the regular cases can remain below the cover, and whether the space needed for a dog or pushchair leaves room for everything else.
Motion, Ultra and Kuro should be compared through the supplied equipment list. Decide which visibility, parking and comfort features will be used frequently, and whether wheel or trim details change anything that matters to you. Check the automatic version in low-speed manoeuvres if congested driving is common; a brief open-road test can miss that daily requirement.
Suzuki’s standard manufacturer warranty is three years or 60,000 miles. Its longer service-activated programme is conditional: it starts after a qualifying service following the original warranty and renews under the applicable rules, up to the stated age or mileage limit. It should not be presented as an unconditional ten-year manufacturer warranty covering every car and every fault.
For a lease, establish who arranges servicing and whether the chosen maintenance package is compatible with any warranty requirements you intend to rely on. High annual mileage can reach a mileage limit before a time limit. Compare the contract on realistic use and ask how a change of driver, address or business travel pattern would be handled during the agreement.
Vitara’s mild-hybrid system does not qualify it for the zero-emission company-car bands. Use the exact derivative’s certified CO2 and P11D, including the chosen gearbox and driven wheels. The rows below are conditional examples to help compare a full agreement; none is assigned to every Vitara in the grid.
Employee or director private use normally creates a benefit based on P11D value and the annual BiK percentage. Personal liability then depends on the individual’s tax position. These are not percentages of the rental. Sole traders follow different rules. Compare every tax year covered by the agreement.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol mild hybrid at 115-119 g/km, conditional benchmark | 29% | 29% | 30% | 31% |
| Petrol mild hybrid at 125-129 g/km, conditional benchmark | 31% | 31% | 32% | 33% |
| Petrol mild hybrid at 135-139 g/km, conditional benchmark | 33% | 33% | 34% | 35% |
These conditional bands require the supplied Suzuki Vitara’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel and registration date. Uncertified diesels can attract a supplement, capped at the annual maximum.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, annual VED after year one is £200 before supplements. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later cash rates are not confirmed here. Check the funder’s treatment of increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. The £440 annual supplement lasts five years from year two. List-price thresholds, including relevant options before discounts, are over £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, and over £50,000 for zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Registration date matters. Plug-in hybrids use the £40,000 threshold. Check GOV.UK’s VED rules.
Planned eVED. eVED is planned from April 2028 alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids. It is not currently charged. CPI uprating is proposed from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Check the funder’s treatment and the government’s consultation response. The non-plug-in Suzuki Vitara falls outside these planned categories.
Talk through the car and the agreement
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Ready to refine your shortlist?
No. The conventional Vitara covered here is a petrol mild hybrid in Suzuki’s current UK range. The e Vitara is a separate battery-electric product with its own IVF route. Do not transfer charging, battery or tax claims between the two names.
The current mild-hybrid Vitara does not require external charging. Its electrical assistance supports the petrol engine as part of driving. If you want a car that runs entirely on electricity, investigate e Vitara separately and assess a suitable charging routine.
No. Suzuki limits ALLGRIP to selected variants, and IVF’s grid distinguishes those entries from other Vitara choices. Confirm the exact driven-wheel specification in writing. The SUV body style is not sufficient evidence that a particular car has four-wheel drive.
Automatic choices appear in the current UK mild-hybrid range and IVF’s grid. Match the transmission with the required trim and driven wheels, because not every combination should be assumed. Try the intended car in the traffic and parking conditions you use regularly.
Suzuki presents Kuro as a special edition. IVF’s captured entries carry Kuro ALLGRIP descriptions with different gearboxes. Check the exact equipment and model year rather than assuming the edition name changes every aspect of performance or includes a particular accessory.
Suzuki’s UK page checked for this build describes mild-hybrid technology. Older model descriptions should not be transferred to a current quotation. Ask for the complete engine and model-year details if a listing or external description uses a different hybrid label.
Compare them with your normal passengers and luggage. If the Vitara’s seating or loading arrangement is the constraint, S-Cross provides a relevant Suzuki alternative. Use the same journey and equipment checklist, then compare each offered car’s own specification and agreement.
No. Suzuki’s longer service-activated cover has qualifying service, age, mileage and exclusion conditions. The standard manufacturer warranty is three years or 60,000 miles. Confirm the supplied vehicle’s eligibility and the renewal process before relying on additional cover for a lease.
Use its P11D and certified CO2 with the applicable annual car-benefit percentage, then apply the individual’s tax position. Gearbox and drivetrain choices can change the inputs. A mild-hybrid badge does not make the car zero-emission for this calculation.
Tell us the required gearbox, whether ALLGRIP is essential, passenger and luggage needs, annual mileage and preferred term. Include equipment or towing requirements early. The written quotation should identify the exact car and explain maintenance, fees and contract-end conditions.
Bring your passenger, journey and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
