Intelligent Vehicle Finance’s Audi A6 route includes combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric catalogue entries. A6 Avant and A6 e-tron searches therefore need an explicit body and powertrain choice here. Compare Saloon, Avant or electric Sportback requirements, then confirm the full derivative before assessing business contract hire, charging and company-car tax.
This A6 page needs to answer two different search intentions honestly. Some customers want a conventional executive Saloon or Avant; others mean the electric A6 e-tron or Avant e-tron. IVF’s live derivative table, captured for this guide, contains both groups together, as well as plug-in hybrids. Start by saying whether you want petrol, diesel, a plug-in hybrid or a battery-electric car, then identify the body.
The A6 is worth considering when longer business journeys, adult passengers and luggage are central to the brief. We would not choose a powertrain solely because a search result uses the familiar A6 name. If reliable charging is available, electric and plug-in hybrid versions deserve an informed comparison. If it is not, assess the combustion choices without applying electric tax or range claims to them.
| Model or route | Reason to compare | What to establish first |
|---|---|---|
| Audi A6 route | Combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric entries together | Full body and fuel identity before any specification comparison |
| BMW 5 Series | Combustion and plug-in hybrid executive alternative | Compare to the matching A6 energy system |
| BMW i5 | Battery-electric Saloon and Touring alternative | Compare to A6 e-tron with charging and body needs aligned |
This compares vehicle roles, not equivalent equipment or financial offers. Match the offered UK model year and specification before deciding.
The captured table includes petrol and diesel Saloon and Estate descriptions, plug-in hybrid entries in those body categories, and electric Hatchback and Estate descriptions. Audi’s UK electric naming uses Sportback e-tron and Avant e-tron. For an electric enquiry, ask IVF to match the catalogue body label to that full manufacturer name. The word Avant by itself only identifies an estate body; it does not establish whether the vehicle is electric, plug-in hybrid or combustion-powered.
The current descriptions include 2.0 TFSI 204, TDI variants, e-Hybrid Quattro 299 and other TFSI e wording. Electric entries carry different outputs and 83 kWh or 100 kWh battery labels, with S6 Quattro also present. These are catalogue records, including descriptions that may span generations. A broad model page is not proof that every record can be supplied or that its shorthand establishes a current manufacturer specification. Request the exact model year and complete derivative before comparing proposals.
A battery-electric A6 e-tron relies on charging for its driving energy. An e-hybrid combines a combustion engine with a plug-in battery. That is a material distinction for a travelling professional, even when both cars have an Avant body. Consider where each would charge, how frequently you could connect it and what happens on the longest journeys you repeat. Do not use the hybrid’s ability to continue on fuel as a reason to omit charging from the assessment.
We have not assigned one electric-range figure to this mixed A6 catalogue. The table spans batteries, outputs, bodies and generations, and a manufacturer’s maximum for one version cannot describe all of them. Ask for the certified range and AC/DC charging specification of the exact electric car. For a hybrid, request its electric range, emissions certificate and charging capability separately. Wheel and equipment choices, temperature, speed, load and starting charge all matter when moving from a test figure to real journey planning.
For frequent business travel, map charging to the places you actually visit. A destination charger that can be used during a meeting may serve you differently from a motorway stop. Check availability arrangements, access hours and a fallback, rather than assuming every mapped location can be used on demand. At home, have the installation assessed and think about parking orientation and cable reach. These are practical prerequisites for a successful electric routine, regardless of the number printed in the derivative name.
Compare bodies with the people and equipment that travel in the car. A Saloon’s separate boot, an Avant’s estate opening and the electric Sportback’s rear access should be tested as distinct arrangements. Put the driver’s seat where you need it and check rear accommodation. Try overnight cases, presentation equipment or family luggage in the configuration you will use, rather than treating a seats-folded measurement as evidence that everything fits with passengers aboard.
The BMW 5 Series is a useful executive alternative for combustion and plug-in hybrid consideration. The BMW i5 provides a separate electric Saloon and Touring comparison. These two routes help keep the A6 decision honest: compare the intended energy system and body role, then assess the offered specification. An e-tron quotation should not be weighed against a diesel proposal without recognising both the charging and tax differences.
An enquiry saying only Audi A6 business lease leaves too many decisions open. Tell IVF the fuel type, body, model-year expectation and essential equipment. Add annual mileage, agreement length, initial-rental preference and maintenance requirements. IVF can then compare suitable proposals through its funder panel. If you are deliberately comparing an Avant e-tron with a diesel Avant, ask for the same usage and contract assumptions while keeping each vehicle’s specification and tax position visible.
Before judging the proposal, confirm model year, battery measurement basis where relevant, package contents, warranty timing and maintenance scope. Retain the actual P11D and emissions evidence with a business quotation so the personal tax calculation matches the supplied car.
The A6’s mixed catalogue makes powertrain identification essential. Zero-emission e-tron, plug-in hybrid and combustion entries cannot share one company-car percentage.
For an employee or director with private availability, use the exact car’s P11D and the applicable annual percentage, then personal income tax and relevant adjustments. The table separates electric treatment, conditional hybrid examples and the annual maximum. It does not assign a band to an unverified catalogue description.
For e-hybrid or TFSI e, obtain certified CO2 and electric range together. Where newer certification exceeds the normal low-emission threshold, assess any qualifying easement from the registration and emissions-standard evidence. An electric-range marketing figure alone cannot establish the result. Petrol and diesel proposals need their own calculation, including any applicable diesel supplement.
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission A6 e-tron | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
| Qualifying hybrid: 1-50 g/km treatment, certified 40-69 miles | 10% | 11% | 18% | 19% |
| Qualifying hybrid: 1-50 g/km treatment, certified 70-129 miles | 7% | 8% | 18% | 19% |
| A6 at the annual maximum emissions band | 37% | 37% | 38% | 39% |
These are conditional tax bands, not assigned rates for every Audi A6. Confirm the supplied car’s P11D, certified CO2, fuel type and registration date. Diesel supplements can apply where the required emissions certification is absent, subject to the annual maximum.
The electric-mile figures above are HMRC band thresholds, not promises of this car’s driving range. Newer plug-in hybrid certification can show more than 50 g/km. A temporary company-car easement may treat an eligible car as 1 g/km where the registration date, electric range and Euro-status conditions are met; it is not automatic and must not be transferred to lease-rental deductions. Check the vehicle documents and HMRC’s plug-in hybrid conditions with your accountant.
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 24 September 2026 against the C1 ledger and its primary sources. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27 the standard annual VED payment after year one is £200. First-year tax follows CO2 and registration rules; zero-emission cars have a £10 first-year rate. An A6 e-tron is therefore not VED-exempt. Later annual cash rates are unconfirmed here; check the funder’s change provisions.
Expensive Car Supplement. The A6 supplement threshold depends on powertrain: over £40,000 for petrol, diesel or hybrid, or over £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Include relevant options before discounts. The 2026/27 supplement is £440 annually for five years from the second licence. See GOV.UK vehicle-tax rules.
Planned eVED. The government eVED proposals plan an additional charge from April 2028: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids, with CPI uprating from 2029/30. These remain subject to legislation and implementation. Ordinary combustion A6 versions fall outside those categories; ask the funder about the exact proposal.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
The hire-cost rules normally disallow 15% of otherwise deductible rentals for cars above 50 g/km, subject to their scope and exceptions. A company-car BiK easement does not establish relief from this restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Audi leasing range, BMW 5 Series, BMW i5, company-car BiK guide, request a callback to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Yes. The captured IVF derivative table contains electric Hatchback and Estate entries alongside combustion and plug-in hybrid A6 descriptions. Ask IVF to identify the full Sportback e-tron or Avant e-tron derivative in your quotation.
Yes. Specify that you mean the battery-electric Avant e-tron, along with mileage, term and equipment. Electric estate entries appear on this route, but the actual vehicle, model year and funder criteria still require confirmation.
No. Avant identifies an estate body. Audi UK also lists combustion and e-hybrid A6 Avant versions. IVF’s mixed table reflects different powertrains, so the word Avant must be accompanied by the complete derivative and fuel type.
No. e-hybrid is plug-in hybrid and retains a combustion engine; e-tron identifies the battery-electric range discussed here. Charging requirements, certified emissions and company-car tax need separate assessment for each.
The table uses catalogue body categories. Audi’s UK electric model names are Sportback e-tron and Avant e-tron. Have IVF match the catalogue entry to the exact manufacturer body name so that your enquiry is unambiguous.
Request the certified figure for the exact body, battery, output, wheels and model year. This mixed catalogue cannot support one range claim. Temperature, speed, load and starting charge also affect the distance achieved in everyday use.
The captured table includes varied TFSI, TDI, TFSI e, e-Hybrid and electric naming. Confirm generation and model year with IVF rather than assuming every entry matches the newest Audi UK presentation or can currently be supplied.
IVF needs the precise powertrain, body, options, term, annual mileage, initial rental and maintenance preference to compare funder quotations. Matched contract assumptions are essential when considering combustion, hybrid and electric A6 proposals.
No. Those percentages apply to the zero-emission electric car, not every A6. A hybrid needs certified emissions and electric-range treatment, while petrol and diesel versions use their applicable emissions bands. P11D remains vehicle-specific.
Consider the 5 Series for a combustion or plug-in hybrid executive brief and the i5 for an electric Saloon or Touring brief. Align powertrain, body requirements and equipment before comparing their lease terms.
