Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you compare Geely EX2 leasing for compact electric-car use. Pro, Max and Ultra differ in battery, motor and equipment, so start with your regular journeys and charging access. Check the exact UK version, passenger space and contract details before requesting a business or personal quotation.
The Geely EX2 is a compact electric-car choice for a driver who does not need the body size of an SUV. Its usefulness depends on whether the cabin fits your passengers and whether charging fits your routine. A private driver might be replacing a hatchback used for commuting and family errands. An SME might be considering a staff car for local visits with occasional longer travel. In both cases, start with actual journeys rather than a technology checklist.
The UK launch was announced on 5 August 2026, and the manufacturer's current range describes Pro, Max and Ultra. That establishes a UK product range, not the supply position of a particular IVF quotation. The model is newer to this market, so be specific about the local service arrangements, the supplied software and the support attached to the offered vehicle. This guide makes no prediction about brand longevity or future resale values.
Geely EX2 and two alternative starting points
| Model | Start here when | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Geely EX2 | A compact electric hatchback meets the passenger brief | Pro battery versus Max/Ultra and actual charging access |
| Geely EX5 | An SUV body may suit access or luggage better | Your parking space, passenger layout and exact battery |
| Renault 5 | You want another compact EV to try | Cabin ergonomics and the battery/charger combination |
These are different vehicle choices, not a specification or availability ranking. Compare the exact quoted versions with your normal passengers and luggage.
The three IVF entries captured on 28 September 2026 use 60 kW Pro 35 kWh, 85 kW Max 47 kWh and 85 kW Ultra 47 kWh labels. Geely UK's current model page supports that broad distinction. Pro is a different battery and motor choice; Max and Ultra share the larger battery description but differ in equipment. Do not pay attention only to the trim name when the battery and regular journey requirements are the more fundamental choice.
Geely's press material also uses more precise battery-capacity descriptions than the rounded catalogue labels. Ask for the exact UK specification and clarify the measurement basis rather than assuming different decimal wording means a different vehicle. For range and charging, use the documents for the supplied derivative, wheels and equipment. This page deliberately does not turn a single manufacturer headline into a distance or charging promise for all three versions.
Start with where the car will be parked for the longest periods. If that is home, check the practical installation route, permissions and the ability to leave the cable connected safely. If it is work, confirm who can use the charger and how payment is handled. Where public charging is the main option, look at alternatives as well as the nearest point, including what happens when it is occupied or unavailable.
Pro and the larger-battery versions have different charging specifications in the UK material. Ask for the exact AC and DC capabilities, supplied cable and the conditions behind any quoted charging benchmark. Peak charger power is not a constant rate across a session. Temperature, state of charge and the installation matter. For a business driver, also establish who pays for electricity and how any reimbursement is handled, without treating personal charging costs as part of the car's rental.
Write down a demanding ordinary day, including the return journey and any likely detour. Then consider cold weather, motorway speeds, cabin heating and the passengers or luggage usually aboard. That is a more useful decision aid than using the average distance alone. A battery that meets a short daily commute may still ask you to organise a stop on a repeated longer journey, and the acceptability of that stop is personal.
Compare Pro and Max first on that journey requirement. If the larger battery is the right fit, assess Ultra as an equipment choice rather than assuming another battery step. If regular long-distance travel leaves little room for charging stops, compare another vehicle honestly. An electric company-car tax path is relevant, but it does not compensate for a charging routine that fails your work schedule or creates uncertainty for the people relying on the car.
Geely describes five seats, a flat rear floor and a 375-litre rear boot with seats up. Those are useful starting facts, but sit in the rear behind the normal front-seat positions before deciding how the car will work. If a child restraint is required, check the approved position and installation in the handbook. A five-seat classification does not establish equal comfort for five adults on every journey.
Try your luggage in the boot and assess the available storage on the exact trim. The separate front storage area may help with charging equipment, but check the load instructions and accessibility rather than assuming every item belongs there. For a small-business car, secure work equipment appropriately and consider what needs to remain out of sight when parked. The aim is to avoid discovering that an apparently spacious cabin lacks the particular shape your regular load requires.
Geely's UK page identifies Ultra additions including heated front seats and steering wheel, a surround camera and other convenience features. Try the controls and screen layout while stationary, using your own phone. Ask which connected functions are included and for how long, and how the account is transferred or removed at handback. Assistance systems and cameras remain aids to an attentive driver, not a substitute for checking the surroundings directly.
Geely UK states vehicle and high-voltage battery warranties of eight years or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first, with conditions and component exclusions. Confirm the offered car's start date, servicing responsibilities and battery-capacity conditions. The EX5 is a separate SUV comparison if space or access changes the brief; Renault 5 is another compact electric route. Judge each on the exact battery, cabin and charging requirements rather than assuming their badges settle the decision.
For a Geely EX2 provided to an employee or director for private use, zero-emission status sets the published BiK path below. Battery capacity does not change that percentage, although trim and options can affect P11D value. A personal lease is a separate situation: this company-car calculation is not a reduction in the advertised rental.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission Geely EX2 company car | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
For private use by an employee or director, P11D value multiplied by the appropriate percentage normally gives the taxable benefit. Personal tax depends on the individual’s income-tax rate and adjustments. Sole traders follow different rules. Confirm the exact car’s documents; these are conditional bands, not rates assigned to every listing.
Sources checked 28 September 2026: HMRC 2026/27 and 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes and our company-car BiK guide. Tax depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). The 2026/27 standard annual VED payment after year one is £200, before any supplement. First-year tax depends on CO2; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later annual cash rates are not confirmed here. Check how the funder handles increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. In 2026/27 the supplement is £440 annually for five years from the second licence. It applies above £40,000 list price for petrol/hybrid cars, or £50,000 for qualifying zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Include relevant options and ignore discounts. Check GOV.UK and the exact car’s registration.
Planned eVED. From April 2028 the government plans 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids, alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation. CPI uprating is planned from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Check the eVED response and the funder’s treatment. This charge is not currently in force.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Flat Rate Scheme users generally cannot reclaim VAT on recurring car-hire payments. Ask your accountant which VAT regime applies before using the recovery examples above.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Geely leasing, Geely EX5, Renault 5, company-car tax guide, business car leasing to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
Geely Auto UK announced its launch on 5 August 2026 and now lists Pro, Max and Ultra. IVF's catalogue has those three derivatives. This establishes a UK range and listings, but the actual car, specification and supply timing still need confirmation for your quotation.
Discuss a business quotation with IVF for the battery and trim that suit the driver's journeys. A qualifying zero-emission company car follows the electric BiK path when privately available. Confirm P11D value, charging arrangements and individual tax treatment alongside the contract, subject to status and funder criteria.
IVF can discuss a personal agreement around the chosen UK derivative, mileage and term. Make sure charging access is practical before selecting the battery. The company-car percentages on this page do not represent a private lease discount or an income-tax benefit automatically available to a personal customer.
Geely's UK page lists Pro with 35 kWh and 60 kW descriptions, while Max and Ultra use 47 kWh and 85 kW. Ultra adds equipment rather than another stated battery step. Confirm the precise specification and measurement basis on the offered car before comparing technical figures.
Geely UK's current model information describes rear-wheel drive. That is a layout fact, not a promise about how every driver will experience the car. Try the exact version and assess visibility, low-speed manoeuvres and the controls on the kinds of roads you normally use.
Geely UK quotes 375 litres with the rear seats up. Check the actual luggage shape and whether all required passenger seats remain usable. Manufacturer capacity measurements are useful comparisons, but they do not prove that a particular pushchair, work case or travel bag will fit as intended.
Use the certified UK figure for the supplied battery and derivative as a benchmark, with a practical allowance for weather, speed, load and heating. Do not apply the larger battery's headline to Pro. Plan the longest repeated day and the available charging stops rather than relying only on an average commute.
The UK page states eight years or 125,000 miles for vehicle and high-voltage battery cover, whichever comes first, with conditions and exclusions. Paint, wear items and other components can have separate terms. Confirm servicing obligations, battery-capacity conditions and the start date for the actual car.
EX5 is relevant if an SUV layout better suits access or luggage needs. Renault 5 provides another compact electric-car comparison. Try the real passenger and luggage arrangements, and match the battery and charging requirements. Neither alternative should inherit EX2 specifications simply because it is electric.
State Pro, Max or Ultra, typical and longer journeys, charging access, annual mileage and essential equipment. Clarify whether the agreement is personal or business. Ask for the full UK specification, registration status, local servicing arrangements and contract inclusions before comparing the final quotation.
