Intelligent Vehicle Finance can help you assess Maxus MIFA 9 contract hire for family or executive passenger use. The electric MPV appears in seven and eight-seat catalogue versions. Start with the seating layout, luggage and daily charging plan, then confirm the exact UK specification and agreement before committing.
The MIFA 9 earns its place on a shortlist when carrying people comfortably is the main job. That may be a household moving between school, work and longer trips, or a business arranging travel for directors and colleagues. Its electric drivetrain makes charging part of the operating plan, while its range of seating layouts means the passenger brief should come before the trim choice.
This passenger MPV serves a different task from a MAXUS commercial van. If most trips involve one or two people, consider whether you need this size. Investigate MIFA 9 when its passenger space will be used regularly.
Passenger MPV choices: MIFA 9, MIFA 7 and Lexus LM
| Model route | Reason to investigate | Practical comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Maxus MIFA 9 | Seven or eight-seat electric passenger brief | Match the seat count to luggage and door equipment |
| Maxus MIFA 7 | Same-brand electric MPV alternative | Try the required passenger layout before choosing size |
| Lexus LM | Executive passenger alternative | Compare rear-cabin priorities and a different powertrain routine |
IVF’s September listing shows Elite 7 Seat, Elite 8 Seat, Luxury 7 Seat, Luxury 8 Seat and Premium 7 Seat. All five descriptions include 180kW and 90kWh. MAXUS’s currently linked UK brochure contains the same five combinations, which gives a firmer basis for comparison than relying on one generic specification panel. The quotation still needs to identify the vehicle’s model year and complete equipment.
Elite’s manual sliding doors differ from the powered doors shown for Luxury and Premium in the brochure. That matters where passengers get in and out repeatedly or where the driver will operate the doors for them. Try the actual controls and access in person. Do not select a grade on the assumption that every MIFA 9 has the most elaborate seat and door arrangement pictured in promotional material.
Premium is listed as a seven-seat version, so it cannot simply replace an eight-seat Elite or Luxury in the same passenger brief. Establish your minimum occupied-seat requirement, then choose the grade within it. The live grid contains rental figures for the listed versions; ask for a written like-for-like quotation with matching mileage and term rather than treating the trim ladder as the whole decision.
Seat count includes the driver. An eight-seat version therefore provides seven passenger places; it does not mean eight passengers plus a driver. Check the quoted seating plan and vehicle documents, particularly if your organisation is specifying a minimum passenger capacity. Do not assume that a seat can be removed or repositioned in a way the handbook does not authorise.
Bring the bags, cases or folded pushchair you normally carry and assess space with every required seat available. For a family, test access to the rearmost row with child restraints installed in their approved positions. For business travel, consider the passenger who boards last and the luggage brought by the whole group. A comfortable empty cabin does not prove that everyone and their bags will fit.
The brochure’s body dimensions describe a substantial vehicle. Measure the approach to your parking space as well as the bay itself, and confirm the width including mirrors. Check tailgate clearance under a low roof and space for passengers beside the sliding doors. When loading people and luggage, ask for the specific car’s plated weight limits and usable payload; a generous cabin does not remove those limits.
The current UK brochure gives a combined WLTP benchmark of 270 miles for Elite and 267 miles for Luxury and Premium. Those are brochure-version figures, not promised distances for every IVF entry. Match the model year, 90kWh battery, grade and wheels before using them. Temperature, speed, heating, passenger load and luggage can reduce the distance available between stops.
Plan a day with a full passenger load rather than starting from the longest published figure. Include travel to the first collection, waiting, the main journey and the return home. Then identify where the car can charge without disrupting that schedule. For a household, this may be a dependable overnight connection. For a business, it may require a clear responsibility for plugging in and checking charge before the next departure.
The brochure identifies 11kW AC and 120kW DC charging capability for the specified versions. These are power capabilities, not continuous charging speeds or a time promise. The building’s electrical supply and charger limit AC performance; battery temperature, charge level and the public charger affect DC charging. Ask an installer to assess the parking location and supply before assuming the vehicle can replenish its daily use overnight.
MIFA 7 is the natural same-brand alternative when reviewing the amount of vehicle you need. Compare the actual cabin and luggage arrangement rather than assuming a smaller model name will fulfil the same occupied-seat task. Lexus LM is a different executive passenger proposition; investigate it if rear-passenger priorities outweigh the wish for a battery-electric drivetrain.
MAXUS’s linked brochure states five years or 62,000 miles for the whole vehicle and eight years or 125,000 miles for the battery. Confirm which limit comes first, commencement date, battery conditions and exclusions in the supplied UK warranty. High annual mileage can reach a distance limit while time remains, so align the agreement and maintenance plan with the way the MPV will actually be used.
If the proposed use includes carrying paying passengers, tell IVF, the insurer and the funder before a quotation is accepted. Obtain the relevant licensing advice for that operation. This page does not establish permission for that use, and an executive-style cabin does not itself establish funder acceptance or the correct insurance. Ordinary family and staff passenger journeys should also be described accurately.
For a MIFA 9 provided to an employee or director with private availability, assess the zero-emission company-car bands. MAXUS’s van range does not give this passenger MPV a nil van benefit. Confirm classification and the actual P11D before calculating the personal and employer implications.
Taxable car benefit normally uses P11D value and the applicable percentage; personal tax then depends on the individual’s tax rate and adjustments. The lease rental is not the calculation base. Check every tax year covered by the agreement with your accountant.
Company-car BiK benchmarks, 2026/27 to 2029/30
| Tax specification | 2026/27 | 2027/28 | 2028/29 | 2029/30 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zero-emission electric car | 4% | 5% | 7% | 9% |
Use our company-car BiK guide alongside HMRC’s 2026/27 and 2027/28 tables and the published 2028/29 and 2029/30 changes. Tax information checked 28 September 2026 against GOV.UK and HMRC. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change; consult your accountant.
Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For 2026/27, annual VED after year one is £200 before supplements. First-year VED depends on CO2 and registration; zero-emission cars pay £10. Later cash rates are not confirmed here. Check the funder’s treatment of increases.
Expensive Car Supplement. The £440 annual supplement lasts five years from year two. List-price thresholds, including relevant options before discounts, are over £40,000 for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, and over £50,000 for zero-emission cars registered from 1 April 2025. Registration date matters. Plug-in hybrids use the £40,000 threshold. Check GOV.UK’s VED rules.
Planned eVED. eVED is planned from April 2028 alongside VED, subject to legislation and implementation: 3p per mile for electric cars and 1.5p for plug-in hybrids. It is not currently charged. CPI uprating is proposed from 2029/30; later cash rates are unconfirmed. Check the funder’s treatment and the government’s consultation response.
VAT-registered businesses can normally reclaim 50% of the VAT on qualifying car rentals where private use is available, depending on circumstances and the normal VAT rules. Full rental-VAT recovery requires exclusive business use with no private availability. Maintenance can fall outside the rental block when it is genuinely optional, separately described in the contract and separately quantified on the invoice; recovery remains subject to normal VAT rules. Read HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance.
Businesses using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme do not normally recover input VAT on recurring car hire. The separate capital-goods exception does not turn hire invoices into a vehicle purchase. Check HMRC’s Flat Rate Scheme guidance.
A zero-emission car is not subject to the CO2-based lease-rental restriction. Check HMRC’s car-hire deduction rules.
For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, revised FRS 102 generally requires a right-of-use asset and lease liability for lessees, including small companies using Section 1A. FRS 105 lease accounting for eligible micro-entities was not changed in the same way. Contract hire therefore does not universally keep a car off the balance sheet. Ask your accountant to apply the right framework; HMRC summarises the accounting standards.
Tell IVF your annual mileage, regular passengers, essential equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.
Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.
A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied car’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.
At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.
Use Maxus car leasing, Maxus MIFA 7 leasing, Lexus LM leasing, company-car tax guide, electric car leasing to narrow your choice or discuss a quotation.
The current MAXUS UK brochure and IVF grid list Elite and Luxury with either seven or eight seats, plus Premium with seven. Confirm the actual layout in the quotation. Total seat count includes the driver, and the luggage arrangement needs checking with the required passenger places in use.
This route concerns the passenger MIFA 9 MPV. Use the supplied vehicle classification and car tax framework rather than borrowing electric-van benefit rules from the MAXUS commercial range. An accountant should confirm the treatment for the vehicle and the way your business makes it available.
The currently linked UK brochure specifies manual sliding doors for Elite and powered sliding doors for Luxury and Premium. Confirm the relevant model year and equipment list before ordering. A photograph or general model description can show a different grade from the car being quoted.
The UK brochure lists combined WLTP benchmarks of 270 miles for Elite and 267 miles for Luxury and Premium. Match the supplied model year, battery, grade and wheels; these are not confirmed figures for every IVF row. Weather, road speed and passenger load affect actual distance.
That depends on the installed supply, charger, available time and energy used during the day. Have the installation assessed and plan from your normal journeys. The car’s charging capability alone does not establish what a particular property can deliver or how long replenishment will take.
The current brochure and captured IVF grid list Premium with seven seats. If eight seats are essential, start with the listed Elite and Luxury configurations and verify their equipment. Do not accept a Premium substitution without checking whether it still fulfils your passenger requirement.
The linked UK brochure gives five years/62,000 miles for the vehicle and eight years/125,000 miles for the battery. Confirm commencement, whichever-limit-first terms, coverage and exclusions for the actual car. A long agreement or intensive mileage may extend beyond the applicable cover.
Start with who takes the agreement and who can use the vehicle privately. A company-car decision includes the employee or director’s benefit calculation; a private agreement follows a different route. Ask for matching seating, mileage, term and maintenance assumptions before comparing the contractual figures.
A catalogue entry is not evidence that an identified vehicle is ready for delivery. Ask IVF to confirm the offered car, its specification and the current supply position. If timing is essential, state that early so the enquiry can include suitable alternatives.
Take representative luggage and any child restraints, and bring the people who will regularly use the rear seats where practical. Try boarding, seating and boot access together. Record the trim and seat count of the demonstration vehicle so your quotation can be checked against it.
Bring your passenger, journey and equipment requirements. We can help turn them into a clear vehicle and contract brief.
