Your Mercedes-Benz Vito leasing decision

Intelligent Vehicle Finance helps you specify a Mercedes-Benz Vito for the people, tools and journeys in your working week. Choose panel or crew seating first, then compare body length and diesel or electric operation. Check usable load space, payload after equipment and charging access before settling the contract.

Mercedes-Benz Vito business leasing: where it fits

The Vito is the middle step in Mercedes-Benz’s working-van range. Its strongest use case is a business that needs a proper equipment bay or a dedicated crew layout without moving automatically into a large Sprinter. Trades, installation teams and service engineers should start by deciding whether the vehicle mainly transports equipment or combines equipment with colleagues.

That decision changes the whole brief. A panel van keeps the rear compartment for work materials, while a crew configuration gives seating a share of the same vehicle envelope. Buying a longer van does not make a crew body equivalent to a panel van of the same length. Establish the occupied-seat arrangement before deciding whether ladders, tool cases and job materials have enough secure room.

A Vito is less convincing when the business regularly needs large standing-height equipment or bulky loads that demand a larger shell. Conversely, carrying a few service cases between city appointments may not justify a medium van at all. Compare Citan and Sprinter as deliberate size alternatives, keeping the actual loading task ahead of the badge or trim name.

Mercedes-Benz Vito leasing: key facts

  • July 2026 UK diesel Vito brochure: panel and crew models in L2 and L3, with PRO and SELECT specifications.
  • L2 panel van: 6.0 m³ load volume and 2,831 mm quoted floor length, including 370 mm beneath the front seats.
  • The L2 panel drawing gives 1,392 mm load height and 1,270 mm between wheel arches; measure installed lining and racking separately.
  • 116 Van SELECT L2 UK benchmark: 3,000 kg GVW and 814 kg payload, including the brochure’s 75 kg driver basis.
  • 116 Crew Van PRO L2 UK benchmark: 773 kg payload at 3,000 kg GVW; further occupants and equipment consume the available allowance.
  • eVito is a separate electric panel-van choice. Its range and charging figures need matching to the actual battery and model year listed by IVF.

These are practical alternatives, not a ranking or a like-for-like specification claim. Compare the actual quoted body, equipment, permitted weights and agreement.

Understand the Vito derivatives in the grid

The observed IVF range includes L2 and L3 diesel panel vans, diesel crew vans and electric entries. Diesel descriptions include 114 CDI, 116 CDI and 119 CDI, with manual or 9G-Tronic references where listed. PRO and SELECT appear in the range. Ask for the written derivative, model year and equipment schedule rather than relying on a shortened card title.

The electric catalogue uses 66 kWh wording. The July 2026 UK eVito panel-van document explains that as installed capacity, with 60 kWh usable. Confirm the supplied vehicle matches that specification rather than treating differently labelled entries as automatically identical. The Tourer is a passenger product with its own data; its battery and range figures should not be imported into a panel-van decision.

Panel van or crew van: start with the occupied seats

The July 2026 diesel brochure describes a three-seat panel van and a six-seat crew van. Choose the layout needed on a normal working day, including anyone who travels between sites. An occasional extra passenger is still a real seating requirement; the load compartment is not an alternative passenger space.

The Vito L2 panel-van floor length is quoted as 2,831 mm, but the brochure explicitly includes 370 mm beneath the front seats. That is useful for certain long narrow items, not a full-height rectangular box of the same length. Check the object’s height and width as well as its longest dimension. This distinction is particularly relevant to cabinets, flight cases and equipment that cannot slide beneath the seating area.

Choose length and payload together

In the July 2026 UK document, L2 overall length is 5,140 mm and L3 is 5,370 mm. The L2 panel bay is given as 6.0 m³, with 1,392 mm internal height and 1,270 mm between wheel arches. Use the exact body drawing to plan a load rather than assuming all available volume is a usable rectangle. Check the rear opening and the way the load turns through a side door.

The same brochure lists the 116 Van SELECT L2 at 814 kg payload and the 116 Crew Van PRO L2 at 773 kg, both at 3,000 kg gross vehicle weight. These are specific UK comparison rows, not guarantees for every trim or gearbox. The source includes a 75 kg driver; account for any difference, additional occupants and installed equipment when working out the remaining load.

A rack full of tools is a permanent load even on a quiet day. Add storage drawers, roof equipment, towbar and consumables before deciding the allowance is sufficient. If loading happens through the side door throughout the day, compare the practical access with a demonstrator or dimensioned fit-out drawing. A little more room on paper may be less useful than being able to retrieve the right item without unloading everything else.

Assess eVito on your own route

Mercedes-Benz UK currently lists the eVito panel van, checked 28 September 2026. Its UK material describes an 85 kW motor, 60 kWh usable battery and front-wheel drive, whereas the current diesel Vito is rear-wheel drive. Treat those as distinct configurations when considering load distribution and the operating route.

The July 2026 UK eVito document separates combined WLTP range from its low-to-medium-speed measure. PRO L2 and SELECT L2 are listed at 159 miles combined, and PRO L3 at 160 miles; the low-to-medium-speed figure is 193 miles. Do not substitute the larger number for the combined result. Neither measure guarantees a laden winter shift, so obtain the supplied vehicle’s certified data and test the actual route.

The July 2026 UK panel-van document describes up to 80 kW DC charging and a 10-80% benchmark of around 35 minutes for the stated eVito. That requires a suitable charger and favourable battery and site conditions. It must be checked against the supplied derivative, especially where catalogue wording differs. Build in the time to reach and use the charger, and test the longest working day with heating, motorway sections and normal load included.

An eVito can make operational sense when it returns to a dependable charger and the route has a comfortable reserve. If home charging is proposed, agree permission, installation, reimbursement and what happens when the regular driver is away. A diesel Vito remains a separate option where the current work pattern cannot reliably support charging.

Specify the equipment that protects the working day

The current UK diesel brochure gives the PRO panel van twin side loading doors, a full-length partition and wood flooring. SELECT adds equipment of its own. Check the exact order sheet before deciding that a feature seen in a photograph or another Vito is included. Door style matters where a van reverses close to a wall or needs kerbside unloading.

Mercedes-Benz Vito van tax: 2026/27 and the years ahead

For a Vito used by staff, the panel or crew description is only a starting point for tax. Your accountant should establish whether the supplied vehicle meets the relevant van definition and how private availability is controlled.

GOV.UK’s 2026/27 amounts are £4,170 for a taxable van benefit and £798 for a taxable private-fuel benefit. The employee pays tax according to their circumstances, rather than paying these amounts as a fixed bill. A qualifying zero-emission van is reported at 0% of £4,170: nil. Check GOV.UK’s company-van benefit values.

An exemption can apply where use is restricted to business travel, commuting and insignificant other private journeys. Giving a driver unrestricted family use should not be treated as the same arrangement. Read the van exemption conditions.

A multi-year Vito agreement may cross 2027/28, 2028/29 and 2029/30. Recheck van-benefit rules and annual cash upratings for each year; no later cash amount is asserted here. Tax checked 28 September 2026. Treatment depends on circumstances and can change; obtain advice from your accountant.

Road tax and costs across the term

Vehicle Excise Duty (VED). For a qualifying TC39 Vito registered from 1 March 2001, at no more than 3,500 kg revenue weight, the 2026/27 single annual VED payment is £360. The category includes zero-emission vehicles. Check the GOV.UK light-goods table. Confirm the funder’s treatment of VED and later increases.

Expensive Car Supplement. The car Expensive Car Supplement does not follow automatically from a Vito’s list price. Establish the vehicle’s registered category and tax class; a qualifying light-goods van is treated under its own rules. Check GOV.UK’s vehicle-tax categories. Checked 28 September 2026.

Planned eVED. At the planned April 2028 introduction, eVED excludes vans as well as buses, coaches and HGVs under HM Treasury’s July 2026 response. Do not apply an electric-car mileage rate to a qualifying eVito. Read the government’s eVED response. Checked 28 September 2026; future policy can change.

VAT and the business accounts

Separate the Vito rental, any maintenance service and the employer’s private-use arrangements when asking about VAT. Recovery on a genuine van follows normal taxable-business-use rules and can be reduced by private use, exempt activity or the VAT scheme. IVF’s van and car VAT guide and HMRC’s motoring VAT guidance explain the starting points.

The Vito agreement and the business’s accounting framework determine reporting and any capital-allowance questions. FRS 102’s revised lease treatment generally applies for periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026, bringing right-of-use assets and liabilities onto the lessee’s balance sheet. FRS 105 did not receive the same amendment. Read HMRC’s accounting-standard summary. Checked 28 September 2026.

Talk through the vehicle and agreement with IVF, then confirm your tax treatment with your accountant.

Build the quotation around the way you will use it

Tell IVF your annual mileage, crew, loads, towing, fitted equipment, charging access where relevant and preferred timing. Ask for the precise model year, derivative, options and registration status to be written into the quotation. The catalogue is a starting point; the offered vehicle and funder terms need confirmation.

Business Contract Hire is taken by the business; Personal Contract Hire is taken by the private individual. Both are subject to status and individual funder criteria. Compare the initial rental, term, mileage, maintenance and applicable fees on the same basis. An initial rental is part of the hire cost, not refundable security or ownership equity.

A manufacturer warranty starts under the supplied vehicle’s warranty terms, normally from first registration. Its time and mileage limits may finish before your lease does. It is separate from optional servicing and tyre cover. Confirm maintenance inclusions, insurance responsibilities, tax provisions and early-termination terms before signing.

At the end of contract hire, return the vehicle; there is no contractual purchase option. Excess mileage, damage beyond the funder’s fair wear and tear standard, missing equipment or other contractual charges may still be payable. Check the return process before choosing your agreement.

Mercedes-Benz Vito leasing questions

Can I lease a Vito with crew seating?

IVF’s observed range includes diesel Vito crew vans, and the July 2026 UK brochure describes six-seat crew models. Confirm the exact seating, partition and body length. A crew van does not retain the full cargo layout of a panel van of the same length.

What is the Vito L2 load length?

The July 2026 UK panel-van brochure quotes 2,831 mm measured at the floor, including 370 mm under the front seats. That under-seat portion is not full-height load space. Check your object’s complete shape and the fitted bulkhead.

How much can the Vito carry?

Payload varies by derivative. The July 2026 UK table gives 814 kg for the 116 Van SELECT L2 and 773 kg for the 116 Crew Van PRO L2. Those include the stated driver basis; options, additional people and equipment affect remaining capacity.

Is eVito currently listed in the UK?

Yes, the electric panel van is listed by Mercedes-Benz UK, checked 28 September 2026. Confirm the precise battery, body and model year against the IVF quotation. Do not use eVito Tourer specifications for a panel van.

What electric range should I plan around?

The July 2026 UK document lists eVito PRO L2 and SELECT L2 at 159 miles combined WLTP, and PRO L3 at 160 miles. Its 193-mile figure is low-to-medium-speed, not combined. Test the offered vehicle on your laden route with reserve for weather, speed and auxiliary use.

Why does the catalogue say 66 kWh when Mercedes-Benz says 60 kWh?

The July 2026 UK eVito panel-van document lists 66 kWh installed battery capacity and 60 kWh usable. They describe different capacity measures for that specification. Confirm the quoted model year and vehicle data before matching the catalogue title to those figures.

Are diesel Vito and eVito driven by the same wheels?

The current UK material describes rear-wheel drive for diesel Vito and front-wheel drive for eVito panel vans. Match the specific vehicle and its technical data before making a towing or load-distribution decision.

Should I compare Vito with Citan or Sprinter?

Yes. Citan is the compact step and Sprinter the large-van step. Choose from actual crew, equipment and access needs. Vito is useful when the small van cannot carry the job but the large van’s envelope is unnecessary.

Can a Vito be fitted with workshop racking?

Discuss the design, weight and fixing method before ordering. The funder and relevant manufacturer or converter must accept the modification, and the contract should state what happens to the racking when the van is returned.

What should a Vito lease comparison include?

Use the same body, powertrain, mileage, term, initial rental and maintenance basis. Check insurance, tax provisions, fees, early termination and return standards. The final quoted vehicle and funder conditions need confirmation.
